Back in May, I was in the market looking for a new vehicle in my budget, I had a hard time actually trusting and feeling comfortable with a car salesman. By whim, I stopped into Robert Basil. I wasn't absolutely ready to commit yet because my current lease wasn't up until September but I met this awesome guy named Todd who walked me through all of my options and costs. Still wasn't fully ready. Fast forward, my father passed away and I had two vehicles to get rid of, both Jeeps. Went back to see Todd and also had the pleasure of dealing with Ashley in guest services that walked me through everything, helped me set up appointments, just genuinely both caring people. I will never forget their kindness through such a difficult time. With my lease being so close to the end, Todd tried everything in his power to help me, as did Ashley, I had to take it back to an actual Jeep dealership. 10/10 would not recommend from the start it was a nightmare took about 4 hours to run credit because the manager forgot about us then took someone else. Go to pick up vehicle the following day to find out they can't sell it because there's no title and I would have to wait a week to get it in. Ended up in a different truck with I feel was a better deal and the dealership did help on the price that was the only good thing. Now after 2 weeks the title for the new truck finally comes in and it have joint names on it after we specifically told them we didn't want that. Never ever go here for literally anything. $100 oil changes, I had a free inspection coupon from when I purchased my car from them in 2020, they told me that my wiper blades have to be replaced in order to pass inspection.. $25 per wiper blade. Went in looking for a used vehicle around $20,000ish with Driver Assist features. The salesman told me they had nothing like that on the lot (at least he didn't try to tell me such vehicles didn't exist as the sales guy at another dealer had). I know there are very few cars that meet my needs, but they do exist. (I am looking at a couple now, but I would prefer to find one that checked off a couple more of my "want" boxes.) So, the guy politely says goodbye. No taking my information to contact me if something suitable comes in. So, I guess they are getting two stars because they appear to have a pretty limited used car inventory and they don't appear to want to put in the least bit of additional effort. I attempted to buy a Camaro ZL1 from them. I am 500 miles away and asked for very detailed descriptions of the wheels, paint and interior. We made a deal on the car based on their description. They FAILED to mention 2/4 wheels have significant curb rash and that the paint is chipped and attempted to be poorly repaired on the car. I did a 1000 mile trip to see a $50k+ car that should not have been in that condition. Do not trust this! read more

Bought my car over the winter, I traded in my SUV for a sedan to lower my monthly payment and they completely undershot my vehicles KBB value by several thousand and refused to negotiate. When I first test drove the car everything seemed okay, I was told there was no damage in or outside the vehicle. After a couple days it broke down on the highway due to a electrical issue that would've been caught during a basic inspection before they sold me the car. When I had the car towed to the dealership they told me the repair would take a few days and refused me a rental car. The car did in fact have a large dent on the hood of the vehicle that was hidden by a bug strip which I'm assuming they installed to avoid liability, as well as several broken pieces inside the car such as a vent, and cladding. When I called to see what I could be done about the damage which they lied to me about the manager at the dealership flat out asked me "why did you buy this car" and I explained that it was test drove and night and I was lied to about the damage and he hung up on me and refused to pay for the repairs. I'm never one to write a review but I wanted to steer people aware from this dealership. read more

We took delivery of the new Buick Envision at the end of the month and didn't have time to get the On-Star system activated for the free trial. The vehicle itself is awesome, but for a $43,000 suv we expected them to at least clean the windows and the mirrors for pick up time. The outside was nice....but not the interior. It showed all the suction cup marks on the inside windows, made during the manufacturing process. Other than that the staff was friendly. read more

I had my 2019 Canyon A/C repaired yesterday and they had my vehicle from 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM. No call for updates and no updates on the GMC app. They actually asked if I wanted to wait! LOL! The real reason for this review is I watched my vehicle taken out for a test drive and it was not sanitized before returning to me. I asked Service Manager about their policy and she stated they spray the vehicle when it comes in. I have no idea who was breathing in my vehicle for the entire day. The lot jockey has his mask on below his nose and the mechanics gather in the service area without masks and social distancing. It's great they are protecting their employees from me and the other customers, but they are not protecting their customers from the Covid. This is their policy, so bring along sanitizing wipes if you have your vehicle serviced at Robert Basil in Orchard Park. BTW, my wife had her oil changed here 2 weeks ago and she watched the mechanic drive her car without a mask on at all and then returned the car. read more

I attempted to make a simple $400.00 claim against the Basil "free engines for life warranty". The claim was denied because of a missed tire rotation. The "free engines for life" warranty, which is backed by National Auto Care, Westerville, Ohio, requires the vehicle owner to have all oil changes and tire rotations performed by the dealer. Every oil change and tire rotation was performed by Robert Basil Cadillac since the day the vehicle was purchased in 2011. Because Robert Basil Cadillac failed to rotate the tires on one occasion, National Auto Care denied the claim for the engine repair. What does a tire rotation have to do with the operation of the engine? Why did the dealer fail to rotate the tires during the scheduled oil change? I used to be a loyal Basil customer, but not anymore. I purchased a Cadillac and a Lincoln from the Basil family of dealerships and I am now having both of these vehicles serviced by a local repair center due to my complete disappointment with the Robert Basil service team and their insurance company, National Auto Care. read more

I purchased a 2018 GMC Yukon SLT certified pre-owned in June 2021. About 2 weeks later, my husband and I noticed the brakes were squealing. It sound like we were driving a bus. We took the vehicle to the service department to have them to check it out. Their response was it's normal and that the brakes are new. So this issue persisted. We had to take the vehicle back...on a tow truck...because the starter went out and we decided to have them to look at the brakes again. We were told they didn't hear anything. So we decided to take the vehicle to West Herr. Their service department said that it is the rear brakes that was causing the squealing and that they needed to be replaced. Almost a $500 price tag. We had them to complete the service. My husband called to speak with the Robert Basil service manager, Jeff to explain this situation. He told us to bring it back to them. Lol. Are you serious?! He wasn't very empathetic so that explains the horrible customer service of the people he manages. I would never take this vehicle back to their service department nor would I ever buy another vehicle from Robert Basil. My first and last time. Oh and our vehicle was delivered in horrible condition. Paid $50k for a vehicle and it wasn't even detailed inside. Just washed on the outside. Also, the Accessories Rep at Robert Basil GMC contributed to the sales pitch. I have it in writing that the salesman knows nothing about the products he sold me. DO NOT TRUST THIS DEALERSHIP. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL AND ARE LOSING EMPLOYEES LEFT AND RIGHT, hence the advertised Job Fair Ads you have heard offered through the media. The 2 Employees mentioned above that sold me GMC Accessories that failed to perform suddenly no longer work for Robert Basil GMC. They sold me a defective Brand New GMC monogrammed Tonneau cover. The cover retains a myriad of puddles and snow instead of shedding water and snow properly like other covers. The cover will not adjust to tighten the cover to shed precipitation and the product slams and bangs from the wind which is not a characteristic of a quality Product. BEWARE. They will stroke you and stroke you until you pay them. Then, they stick it to you, leaving you holding the bag, while getting rid of the salesman so the purchaser has no recourse for the promises made by the employee's of Robert Basil GMC. I bought my truck at this dealership and I have had all the service work done here. I typically have been very pleased with the service, however this time I am totally unsatisfied. I purchased winter tires to have mounted on my truck. I waited almost 4 hours for a job that they said would take two hours, only to find out they put the wrong tires on my truck. I purchased a used vehicle from this dealership. It was a two year old vehicle, with low mileage and a clean car fax. I was assured it had been given a thorough inspection and safety check. It's a minivan, and it's used for all of the stereotypical minivan things...transporting our four children all around WNY. Within a few weeks, I had to bring the vehicle in three times for things that they should have caught...within a week I returned it due to three bad tires that were riddled with debris and not holding air (they told us the tires were low because when vehicles aren't driven a lot the tires can lose air...should have been our first clue). Two weeks later, the van wouldn't start due to a bad battery (which, again had been "supposedly" checked). Now, they were good about remedying the first two (because I was irate and this was unacceptable). However...after a year of having the vehicle I come to find out yesterday that there's no spare tire where the spare should be (underneath the car). Again...this was supposedly checked! I'm livid that they are so careless and quick to get you out the door, when I'm counting on this vehicle to be safe for my family to ride in. The manager in the service center is helpful, but literally every associate and dealer manager is dismissive and quick to get you out the door (while getting your money). I know we weren't a "big ticket" item to them, but for our family this vehicle was a huge purchase. I will not be taking a chance with my family and my money by purchasing a vehicle from them again. read more

I drove 35 minutes to get there on my lunch to check out a used vehicle I saw online. I had financing already approved. After I left, I went back to my bank and if I could get the car down a few hundred $ they'd lower the apr. I called them and they said they couldn't. They told me to apply through their site and they'd see if they could get the deal through one of their lenders. A couple hours later they called back and said they could match the terms. I drove 40 minutes from my house (with a relative who was going to drive my other car home for me). When I went to the finance manager's office the terms they put in front of me did not match the better offer. They insinuated that I was lying that they agreed to the deal. I left. Took my vehicle in to be inspected and oil change they told me that I needed a L/F axle seal, L/F bearing, trans. gasket and filter, L//F tie rod and bushing, R/F fender light, front end alignment and the cost would be $1500.00 plus tax. Took it to my mechanic and they replaced everything except the tie rod and bushing which they said was not bad to begin with and didn't need replacement and the entire work cost me $875.00, so why would I recommend your Dealership to anyone ????? read more

TERRIBLE customer service and used car buying experience. About a month ago I completely totaled my first car, so when I saw that Robert Basil had a used vehicle that I was interested in (in my price range) I called immediately. I went in for a test drive that day which went really well. The dealership accepted our offer that was $500 lower than the asking price, and said we were already approved for a loan through the bank. Then the salesmen proceeded to ask how we wanted to pay the down payment of $1000. After giving them the down payment we left the dealership thinking that we would be picking up the car the next day. Mind you I live in East Amherst and this dealership was all the way in Orchard Park, so the next day my mom, my dad and I drove out there under the assumption that we only had to sign some papers and then we would be on our way home with the car. When we walk into the dealership they are having a huge party for NEW car owners. They sat us down and said they would be right with us, it took well over a half an hour of sitting there for anyone to come over to us. Finally the salesman and the finance guy came and sit with us, which is when we found out that we wouldn't be taking the car home today because the bank hadn't even approved my loan! It was close to 6pm at this time, and the finance guy hadn't even spoke with the bank trying to get everything all set for us. The salesman had even called me earlier that day telling me what to bring in (My license, my moms license, my insurance card, tax returns, etc.) which is why I don't understand why he didn't mention that we weren't even approved, and that we wouldn't be getting the car today. SO after wasting our time driving out there a second time, we left disappointed. Later that night my father called to complain about how we were treated, the used car manager gets on the phone and begins screaming at my dad saying that we're not approved for a car loan, and that there is no way we would be. Although I had the letter from the bank stating the amount of my loan that I was approved for, he insisted that we weren't approved. The following day my mother spoke with the bank trying to figure out what the problem was. The bank clarified that I had been approved for the loan so they couldn't understand what the problem was. After many phone calls and going back and forth we were on our way out to Orchard Park for the third time. At this point I had to double my down payment on top of the other frustrations. We arrive and they give me the whole "Congratulations!" speech, and they sit my mother and I down. I kid you not it took two hours of us sitting there to sign a few sheets of paper. Fast forward a couple weeks of me having the car, we get a phone call from the dealership stating that if my mom didn't bring in her 2013 tax returns they would be coming to take the car. Even my mothers accountant said this was the most ridiculous thing they ever heard. Why would they need her 2013 tax returns? So after that issue was dealt with, we get another phone call saying that we had to drive back out there to sign more paper work that they had missed. Why should we have to drive out there a fourth time because of an error on their part? My father was furious and called the dealership and made their salesmen drive out to my house and bring the paper work. And this guy was NOT happy, again we were being punished because of an error on their part. Once the salesman left he assured us that we were all set for good this time. When yesterday I get a phone call from them stating that they need more information. Two references for my mother and I, proof of my address, and a copy of my social security card. The guy assured me I could send all of this over email, and that it would be no big deal. Mind you I am in college and I have a job. I couldn't do all of this the second I got off the phone, so this morning I get another call from them and let it go to voicemail. They're threatening me that if I don't send this information by the end of today, that they will be coming to take the car. I really thought that going through a well known dealership such as basil that I would be getting great customer service and that I could feel confident in my car buying experience. I was so wrong, this place does not value good customer service, nor do they value your time. Anyone who intends on buying from here should know that unless you're purchasing a brand new 2016 car they do not value customer service. I will NEVER go through this dealership again. Absolutely pathetic that a well known business like this treats its customers so poorly. I apologize for the lengthy review but I don't want anyone else to go through what I did. read more
