Guess its about time to write to write a review after being a patient for 34 years! We lived in Costa Mesa, where our family began seeing Dr herried and staff. We moved to San Diego in 1995 and started to look for a local dentist. We found no one even close to Dr Herrieds professional services, and staff. We have been happily commuting twice a year to Dr Herrieds office! In 2022, a friend referred me to Dr. Herried and as a I was referred by a patient, I was provided a complimentary dental exam and x-rays to which I had on November 22, 2022. While I have had the same "dental hygienist" for the past 14-15 years at another office in Orange County I had been driving to LA to see Dr. Bill Dorfman for my primary dental care but I truly need to have a reliable honest dentist local to me in the OC, as I don't always want to have to drive from OC to LA to see a dentist. Upon meeting Dr. Herried, he was extremely polite and professional. He took the time to answer all my questions and I loved that he didn't make me feel like he was too busy for me. Nor did he make me feel like he was doing me a huge favor, while he was, nor was he pushy in any way shape or form, trying to get money out of me as some dentist's in the past have done. Some 13 years ago a very famous TV celebrity OC dentist, to which I shall not name, did an exam on me and told me I needed a $1500.00-$2000.00 crown. I did not trust her in my gut and went to get a second opinion and was told I did not need a crown. It is now 13 years later and I have never had a root canal or crown and have been seen by not just multiple dentist, but also periodontist and orthodontist and no one told me I needed a crown, except for one dentist wanting to rake in the money. I alway floss, brush, butler, tongue scrape my mouth, and rinse with a professional mouthwash, and use coconut oil for my dental routine. In my whole life I've only had 3 cavities and I am in my 50's. In any case, I use my gut and power of observation to evaluate doctors and I felt like Dr. Herried is definitely a dentist that could be trusted and has ethical integrity. I am planning to book my next exam with him and again say thank you to him for the first exam. Last week, on Monday July 15, 2024 I called his office to ask if they had my dental x-rays on file and they emailed them over to me within minutes and the receptionist was very polite and accomodating. read more

Can I give this place 10 stars? I unfortunately had to stop coming here to realize how great this place truly is. Dr Herried is one of the most caring and professional dentists around. He always does the best work, and it's always work you actually need. I never feel that I'm being led down the wrong path or getting sucked into something unnecessary or expensive. This was the best dental experience for me. I always am a chicken going to dental appointments. It gives me anxiety. Going to Dr. Herried's office was a great experience and it surprises me to say this since dental appointments are not a fun thing for me LOL Dr. Herried's staff was so nice, sweet accommodating and very thorough and made me feel important. X-rays which are usually painful for me since I have sensitive gums. My experience was pretty good with x Rays. The dental assistant was pretty awesome Pam was really nice at the front office with the appointment,scheduling and the whole explanation of prices and everything. she was upfront and said it like it is. No surprises there. I appreciate that because I don't like surprise bills. I like to know what to expect upfront. Dr. Harried was very thorough, very patient and very kind. He explained things carefully asked if I had any questions and if I understood everything. He examined my mandibular area and how I bite and if there's any clicks when I open and close my mouth. He Inspected my gums and my tooth enamel and the whole structure and wear of my teeth. In all my years of going to many dentists this has been by far my best experience ever. I wish I would've known of this dentist sooner but I'm glad I still found out now through a referral of a friend. Now, I share the referral with you and I hope that your experience is just as wonderful as mine all the way from the appointment process down to your dental visit and checking out at the door. I've been coming to Dr. Herried for about 19 years now (wow!). Ever since I was a wee pip squeak! He's always been really great. Very efficient. He might not be the most talkative guy, but he's good. I'll take that any day. I always make my cleaning appointments with the dental assistant, Carol. She's super nice and friendly. She doesn't jab at your gums like some dental assistants can. I gotten fillings and had a couple teeth pulled here, but nothing too major. He referred me to an oral surgeon to have my wisdom teeth pulled. Pam, who works the front desk is wonderful. She's always happy and smiling. Overall everyone in the office is super to work with and I would definitely recommend them! My boss even goes here now! :) Oh yea, he seems to take all kinds of insurances. read more

I'm going on my 3rd year here - and I love it! I've had pretty bad experiences with dentist in the past, but a friend recommended Dr. Herried and I'm glad I gave him a shot! His must really treat his team well, because most (if not all) are long term employees. They also really have a great system down in regards to booking appointments and sending you reminders. Shelli is my regular hygienist and she is awesome. Super friendly and very thorough. She schedules my appointments and has always been very flexibly. Pam (at the front desk) is great! Also sends me a timely reminder and more than helpful when I had questions about my insurance coverage. read more

Dr. Herried has been my dentist for over 30 years and he continually convinces me that I made the right decision to stay with him and his staff to care for my teeth. Everyone there is friendly, efficient and the office has a comfortable warm waiting room, not like other doctor's cold waiting spaces with no personality. My daughter has been going there from the first time she went to the dentist and loves Dr. Herried and his staff, like I do. This dentist is amazing. My husband went to him before we got married. We switched because of insurance and the dentist we went to lied to us about needing all this extra work. Even on our 10 year old. We went back to Dr. Herried and he told us the truth and spent quality time with us. He did veneers on my husband's front teeth that had turned gray as a child from antibiotics. They look gorgeous and super natural. He is the best dentist in this area. I was referred to Dr. Herried by a friend of mine who HATES going to the dentist. So much so, that he hadn't been to one for years. When he told me he didn't mind seeing Dr. H, and in fact found it even enjoyable, I was sold! From the first visit I could see why. Dr. H is very personable, very friendly - so is every single person in his office. Not only are the ppl great, so is their work. What really impresses me is just how much his entire office puts the patient first. Below are two personal experiences. A tooth of mine was borderline between needing a root canal or just a normal filling. So Dr. H used a temporary filling to see if a normal filling would suffice. When I went back to see him, he told me he noticed my insurance was maxed out for the year, and the filling could wait until the next year. Needless to say, I was very pleasantly surprised by this!! Dr. Herried has also helped with two crowns of mine, both gold. From the time of my first crown to the time of my second crown the price of gold had gone up a hefty amount, yet the price of the crowns were the same. I asked him why he hadn't raised the price. He said he felt gold crowns are best and wanted to do what he could to make the best option as affordable as possible to his patients. read more

Honest, forthright, qualified. Dr. Herried is a nice man who's a very good dentist-- his staff is great as well. I've been going to him for about 7-8 years now after my previous dentist sold his practice to some shyster who lied to me about needing huge amounts of work done (to help pay for his new acquisition was my guess). I have been coming to Dr. Herried's dental office for about two years and I am so happy I made the change to his practice. Dr. Herried is outstanding in his craft, kind and caring in nature and very supportive whenever I had questions or concerns. I used doctor Herried as my dentist for a couple of years and then, because a change in insurance went elsewhere for a while. I found that the other dentists that I saw were no where near as good and the service elsewhere was not even close. I highly recommend doctor Herried. I first tried Dr. Herried's office because I read the other 5-star review. Tartar build up on my teeth really fast, so to me, hygienists is a huge factor in deciding which dental office to go to. In the past few years, I had tried a few dentists within the network of my insurance company and had not been pleased with any of them. But now I can say I've finally found my dentist. I've actually just had my cleaning visit a few hours ago. My hygienist, Shelly, was really really good. She took her time to not only make sure that my teeth are cleaned (which they satisfactorily are), but also took every effort to ensure that I'm as comfortable as can be at a cleaning. She was very careful not to scrape my gum and made sure my mouth was not uncomfortably filled with water. I know this is an odd comparison, but I sometimes even felt like I'm in a massage session for my teeth. And did I mention that my teeth were very very well cleaned? I totally recommend Dr. Herried's office. As far as cost and insurance go, Dr. Herried's office is not affiliated with any insurance network, but no good dentist would want to stay in the chains of an insurance network. My dentist friend once told me that when he first finished dental school, he had to enroll in some HMO network to start a client base, but as his practice gets a little more established, he jumped out of the HMO network as soon as he could and was only in some PPO network. Now he's not in any network at all because he wants to take his time offering quality work for his patients and doesn't want to be strapped by the limitations and prices that insurance company imposes. For Dr. Herried's office, their price is very reasonable and my PPO insurance would cover most of my basic and preventative cares. So anyone who has PPO insurance and is looking for a good quality dentist should definitely consider Dr. Herried's office. read more

My favorite dentist! I have been going there since 1998. Dr. Herried is a great dentist and a nice person. Pam at the front desk has been there as long as I've been going and she is so kind, cheerful, and helpful. Shelley is the dental tech that has been cleaning my teeth for all these years and she does an excellent job. The room I'm usually in has a photo of an island with ocean scene attached to the ceiling so when you lay down you can look at it... It says "relax"... a nice reminder! lol I make appointments for twice a year (I used to visit 3 times a year but budget constraints has messed with my schedule- hopefully I can correct that soon!). Dr. Herried also gave me excellent advice and suggestions for caring for my teeth in between visits. I was just there today getting my teeth cleaned and realized in all these years I have never written them a review online and its long overdue. Highly recommend them! read more
