Dr. Whitfield's add came up in my FB feed today. His adds do make sense and after seeing him on a podcast, I too decided to move forward with having him remove my implants. He does an awesome job of marketing himself. In his add he revealed that he has performed thousands of explant surgeries. So why when I had to cancel my surgery did I not get refunded ANY of my $27,634.00? I was charged $500 for the first consult, which I understood, $4,294.00 for your testing/health protocol, which I also understood and then $ 22,840.00 up front for the explant surgery. I took a very last minute opening in his schedule so I could not give him the 30 day notice his contract requires when I canceled. I was unable to travel to Austin for the surgery due to complications that came up with my partner's stage 4 lung cancer treatment and on top of that my 96 year old dad had a health emergency. I was told there are no refunds. I understand there are ramifications for cancelling, but I am out nearly $30,000! After digging deeper and reading several scary reviews and discussing my ordeal with friends in the SF Bay Area whose explants cost less than half of what Dr. Whitfield charges, I no longer felt confident and trusting in having Dr. Whitfield do my explant. I wish I never heard his podcast with TSC. That's what led me to this practice, and it was the worst decision I could have made. Dr. Whitfield performed an overly tight lift, removed my pectoral muscle, caused tissue displacement, and I lost most sensation. This is not a normal outcome. He is extremely difficult to have a conversation with. When I tried to address what was happening, I was met with dismissive behavior instead of answers. At one point, he told me I should sell my car, quit my job, and move out of state, which had nothing to do with my medical care. I was originally supposed to have a fat transfer, which never happened. Dr. Chung is no longer with the practice, and looking back, I am grateful for that. I communicated with Jen from the office regarding my concerns and request for a refund. She did not seem surprised by my experience and has since stopped responding. I'm grateful my implants are out. The lady's at the front desk are nice and 2 other staff members I dealt with. But I could see by their faces they couldn't believe how he treated me either. One nurse having to pull him aside and tell him I was doing the best I could. I highly regret going to this Dr.. He has a God complex and the worst bedside manner I have ever seen. It seems that his staff is made to go around worshiping him. He talked down to me, went off on me, and was extremely aggressive. Non apologetic. This seems to be a pattern considering at min 5 women I've talked to that have gone to him say the same about his bedside manner. I was doing the best I could to survive and didn't deserve the beat down that he gave and barely survived that. He immediately gave me a hormone pellet the first consultation I had with him without even knowing where my hormones were at. Turns out I was living in mold and definitely did not need that 800$ + a month pellet he gave me. He tried reassuring me that everyone in his office including him had it. Had my brain been functioning I would have thought why would a man and every person take the same pellet when they aren't the same? He looks at you as income instead of a person. I left his office in tears several times. After spending thousands of dollars with him no one should be treated that way. They don't care about you and in a years time I saw his staff turn over several times. Had I had any other choice I would have left but I barely had a car or money to support me at any dr.outside of the city I live in. He drains your implants if they are saline a month before surgery and then they sit in your body for a month. You have no idea what toxins are floating in there to infect you more. This is his god complex idea and he thinks he's so smart for coming up with it yet it can make you more sick. Then he knifes you up all over your abs to create pockets for fluid to collect that he drains instead of using drains. So this fluid that should be leaving your body sits in several days. I was drained four times and let me tell you the pressure and pain I felt even though I was on meds was unbearable. Then he sticks needles in to numb and a huge cow tipped needle to drain. It's painful. And he gets pissed at you and makes a big scene all while talking down to you. It's not right and no one deserves it. They also didn't tell me to not drink water after surgery. Wasn't on their surgery form either. I was drinking so much water and that created more fluid in my body. Then he was angry at me for all of this even though it was their fault. His methods lead to a longer more painful recovery. The way you are treated is like his punching bag for his life frustrations. I would highly recommend going elsewhere. Ask in Texas BII groups on FB and ask for several experiences. Check yelp for actual reviews. And stay clear of this Dr unless you are ready to be treated like dirt. I'm sorry it's taken me two years to wrap my head around what happened to me there and leave a review. Wish I would have done it sooner. He did not heal me of BII. He just took the implants out and did check ups lasting almost a year. When I begged for help they acted like they were going to help me and then dropped the ball. Extremely disappointed. I was looking for a PS in Austin TX that did explants (implant removal) and preferably by enbloc. That's how I found Dr. Whitfield, his name popped up in that search. And I'm so thankful I did find him and he advertises breast implant removal on his website. That in-of- itself made me very happy - many PS I've found don't advertise implant removal, even if they have done it. So the fact that Dr. Whitfield has a page on his website that's easy to find, made me also confident in going to him. I loved that he never tried to talk me into doing an exchange or other unwanted procedures, like draining them before removal -- like some others had that I had talked to. Dr. Whitfield took the time to listen to me, he wanted to know why I wanted them removed and he gave me his honest opinions during the consultation. His nurse Sarah is also really helpful and I love that, both Sarah and Dr. Whitfield will get back quickly if I have a question and they don't mind if I ask questions. And they are both friendly, they always greet me when I come in for my follow-ups. And Erin, who works in the office has been and is always really nice and can work wonders with the scheduling. When I first went there, I had to move around my consultation and surgery date a few times. Erin, was always very at ease with it and never got flustered with me. She was able to move my appointment up even, so I was able to get it done earlier in the month. Which was AWSOME! I really like how Dr. Whitfield will have pathology testing done and gives you the option of keeping your implants if you want them. They are super easy to find and they have a satalight office in RR which is helpful. I've been too both. I've recommended a few ladies here, who were looking for a PS. Okay, so after much thought, I've come up with two stars. I appreciate Dr. Whitfield taking my implants out, as they were literally killing me (Breast Implant Illness and no insurance). Unfortunately, that is all of the good I can list here. To make a long story short, Dr. Whitfield lost my implants at the surgery center. I was under the impression that I would get to see the toxic bags that caused me so much pain and sickness for 5 years; I thought my doctor understood Breast Implant Illness (and how we need to see the implants after removal for closure), amongst other reasons I'll list below. When I asked to see them, Dr. Whitfield got out his cell phone and proceeded to find a picture for me, but said he needed to get ahold of someone as to their location. ...And he never contacted me again. I called him one more time to ask about the implants and he told me that he would "get back to me." This is now twice I asked him about the whereabouts of my property, with no answer. Needless to say I was devastated after my surgery by how I was treated (or not treated); not to mention he had apparent difficulty removing my implants and my breasts are very uneven. However, that part I can live with. What I cannot live with is being treated like I don't matter, and being lied to. If you forgot to save them after surgery, or threw them away just TELL ME. Don't pretend you're investigating their whereabouts and then just avoid me...because of course I'm going to have to tell people. For the people that are wondering why someone would want their implants back, I have 3 reasons. 1. Implant manufacturers will buy them back from you after removal as a way to keep you quiet. They pay over 2 grand for a pair. I could have used that money to rest longer and not have return to work as soon as I did. 2. If I chose not to sell back the implants, I could have kept my property for a class action lawsuit, which is in the makings in one of the Breast Implant Illness groups I'm a part of. 3. They're my property. What I choose to do with two toxic bags that nearly killed me should be MY choice and mine alone. Anyways, I gave two stars because I did appreciate him removing them; I probably wouldn't be alive if the implants were still in my body. I just hope he can learn to be more honest with his patients. UPDATE: After Dr. Whitfield messaged me on Facebook messenger, I've changed my review to one star. He offered me money to take down my reviews and to make the situation right (after reading the conversation I hope he didn't just mean for the reviews because that would be dishonest and hardly sufficient for this) and when I told him how much I would need to be reimbursed and to take down the reviews he refused to work with me. As I'm obviously all about honesty, and you've made it this far in my review, I'm just going to give you the details straight. My total loss is 8k+. Between surgery cost, and the buy-back (reason #2) that I would have most likely chosen, I asked for 10k to cover my loss and to remove the numerous reviews I have written and was planning on writing. Not to mention the 20+ screenshots I have of our lengthy conversation and his proposal to shut me up. In the conversation, he only agrees to pay for the 2500 for implant buy-back OR his surgery fee (3k). Which, in my mind, is absolutely insulting. Especially when his entire motivation (as you can see from the screenshots) is for me to delete all of my honest reviews. I'd like to think he actually wants to reimburse me for the money I wasted, but I highly doubt that is true after reading the conversation again. I really don't like leaving negative reviews, but I feel it is my ethical obligation to let people know my experience with this doctor. I went to Dr. Whitfield based on a recommendation and regret that I did not consult with more doctors or hold out for my number one choice. Dr. Whitfield performed liposuction with skin tightening on a small area on my body. Months later my results were not at all what I expected or told to expect. Even after receiving multiple laser treatments promising to tighten my skin and even out the lumps caused by the liposuction, I am still extremely unsatisfied. I can not speak higher of Dr. Whitfield-- he will make you feel comfortable while answering all your questions. He's performed countless surgeries and it shows in his immaculate work. My initial surgery, by another surgeon, was NOT a good job yet in spite of this Dr. Whitfield did an amazing job removing the implants total en bloc and I am very pleased with the results! Now, his staff, they are just the icing on the cake... not sure where he found such amazing caring beings to work alongside him but it probably has something to do with his own caring nature. Sarah, Erin, Angela, Anissa, Kathy, Leah -- everyone I've met up there--very sweet and helpful... I'd like to think I was getting special treatment but I highly doubt it! Dr. Whitfield is honestly a game changer. I was suffering from Breast Implant Illness and was at a loss with what to do. Once I correlated my 30 plus symptoms with possible BII I started to search vigorously for an explant surgeon. Dr Whitfield was amazing with my mother! She had extensive damage from radiation to her chest that her doctors in a smaller town could not fix. She was pretty miserable and we just thought there wasn't anything she could do. She moved here and we took her to a doctor here who texted a picture of her to Dr Whitfield. He called back immediately and asked to see my mom that day. He had her scheduled for surgery within a few weeks was able to completely fix the damage on her chest with skin from her stomach. He really was amazing with her and I am very grateful. She really never thought it could be fixed and he allowed her to live much more comfortably. I am only two days post surgery, removed my implants due to BII, did this on Valentine's Day so it was the ultimate self-love gift to myself. I can tell you I can breathe for the first time in a really long time the oils coming back into my hair and I just feel like I have life back in me. I emailed him very distressed about how I felt with my implants in my body he called me on a Sunday did a consult over the phone right then and there. I had liposuction done by Dr. Whitfield some time ago. Dr. Whitfield definitely is a competent physician, but my results were not what I wanted by a long shot. I requested outer thigh liposuction, and it seems that some fat removed from the upper outer thighs only. I had no visible bruising or swelling post surgery, which somewhat concerned me as to how much fat was removed (and I did not have that much fat to remove in the first place). The rest of the outer thighs were left essentially untouched. I went for the typical 1 week follow up and was told that it was too early to do anything, which is reasonable and I did not mind that. I was told to follow up in a month. I will admit to shared culpability here, life was very busy for me at that time and I did not remember to follow up in a month, but no one from the office followed up with me either, at all, ever again. I don't know whether anything would have been done had follow up been more typical, so I certainly won't comment on that, but needless to say I was unhappy with my results. Ultimately I decided life is too short to be unhappy, so I made and appointment to see another Plastic surgeon in Austin for thigh lipo, who was very aggressive with the surgery, and did an excellent job. I left the surgery center super bruised and swollen, but results have been excellent. I would definitely say too, that Dr. Whitfield should not answer phone calls during patient care - makes patients feel like they are not a priority. read more

I am beyond happy with my results. I just came back from a bra fitting and for the first time in my life, my chest looks normal. I had extensive work on my breasts because they were rediculously uneven and small. I had been to 2 consults prior to walking into the Breast and Body Center.
