Roberta Oaks is a gem! Her designs are fresh and crisp, fun and youthful. I really love the shirts I've purchased there...island prints and colors with an eye towards dressier cuts and details. All her designs are made in Hawaii, which itself is a good reason to shop there. Women's fashions are upbeat and creative. She uses cotton that has a crisp finish, not so relaxed, and well suited to slimmer bodies. I also find little accessories that make nice gifts. Really a great place if you are looking for alternatives to shapeless island styles. read more

I've quickly became a fan of Roberta Oaks... Through the recommendation of some friends from Conde Nast, I made sure to stop at Roberta's to pick up some "not-so-cheesy/touristy" souvenirs. The shirts are beautiful and locally made. read more

I don't know where I should start with this post. Maybe I should start at their voicemail. The beginning of the voicemail there's a greeting and then she goes in to the hours of operation. She says ( literally) don't leave a message because it doesn't get checked frequently! LOL!!!! " just call back during business hours" then something like have a good day, Aloha which sounds fake. Called back and someone (assuming the owner because it was the same person on the answering machine) picked up and I asked for a specific kind of product hoping they had it or something similar. She sounded as if she rolled out of bed answered the phone and I was interrupting her. Not helpful at all, very short and abrupt. What I would have wanted to hear and what would have benefitted their store was " guess what we don't have anything like you're describing, but I invite you to come down to the store and I'm sure we can find something". The funny thing is knowing me, I would have. Today you lost a potential customer and I will share this with all my friends. I honestly have been wanting to come down to the shop since seeing your add in FLUX. I work in downtown and know a lot of people in the industry. Why would someone be so rude and not willing to help? You have nothing different then stores in Chinatown Ala Moana or anywhere else. Awesome service at the end is the deal breaker and what brings people in to create life long relationships. If you've worked this hard to build this store, I'm sure you can work just as hard with service. Aloha! read more

This is a lovely independent shop with original fashion, unique trinkets and photo cards of interesting visual snippets that caught the owner's eye during her travels. I just adored the flirty and fun dresses. K even liked the Aloha shirts, and he has long stated that he hates Aloha wear for men. He reconsidered his position after seeing Roberta's shirts made with unique fabrics and patterns. The carnation shirt in particular was his favorite. read more

Every fashion forward man should have a few aloha shirts in their closet from Roberta Oaks. I actually was at the airport and saw a dude in this colorful aloha shirt walk by me, I turned around to ask him where'd he get his aloha shirt from. Unfortunately, when I visited some of the styles that caught my eye didn't have my size :-(.. However, I was still able to find a few shirts and walked out a happy young man.. I will be sure to spoil myself with a few Roberta Oaks shirts come Christmas time... The price is on the higher end but you get what you pay for and these aloha shirts are QUALITY!!! read more

I love visiting this store, I could easily spend my entire paycheck in this place. The staff is always extremely friendly and super helpful. They truly make you feel like you've been friends for years. Even when I just plan on browsing, I often leave with a new treasure. I have fallen in love within the walls of this store several times. There is always something new and special to find. Despite wanting to keep this place a secret gem, I advise you all to visit Roberta. I hope you all fall in love just as I did. read more

Roberta Oaks makes some deliciously cute dresses, perfect for island life. She sells these lovelies online and I've found a few dresses in other boutiques around Oahu and even at Pink Stripes in Santana Row, San Jose once upon a time. Her store is also her studio, so her hours are limited: they are listed as 11am-6pm Thurs. and Fri. and on First Fridays til 9pm. I wandered by and saw her inside her closed shop and she graciously opened it for me! Of course, I dropped some dough for two unique dresses. I love how she uses vintage swimsuit material and bamboo fabric. She has recently designed some sick jewelry that incorporates car decals into blingy necklaces and bracelets. I heart RO! read more

Love this store! The best part is that Roberta, herself, serves up fantastic customer service. I went for a new years outfit and she was having a huge sale. Now these are what I call dresses! In full disclosure I have never been to the retail store on Oahu. I did however find one of their Aloha shirts in a boutique retailer on Kauai / loved the design so I ordered it online from Roberta Oaks. I have two shirts now and will likely add to the collection. I love Hawaiian shirts and really appreciate small clothing manufacturers like Roberta Oaks and Surf Line. Product quality is very good, designs are great, and most importantly, the shirts are MADE IN HAWAII (not some far flung sweat shop half a world away). read more

Roberta and her store are awesome and a must visit on a Chinatown shopping trip. Roberta has created a warm and inviting store full of clothes, jewelry, and other items as unique as Roberta is. My person favs have been the diverse, local jewelry offerings and funky sunglasses. She really focuses on ensuring her customers have a great experience in her store and providing them with lots of background info on all of the items. She also posts new items on instagram so you always know when something of interest comes in. This store has quickly become my favorite store in Chinatown. Check it out! read more

In my dream world, I find all my vintage, perfect, cutie dresses at Savers for 10 bucks a pop. In the real world, I wore too many polyester mu'us in high school. Enter roberta oaks. Cutie, perfect, vintage-looking dresses that are expensive, yes, but made in Hawaii with eco-concious practices! You guys! Support this lady. Just checked out Roberta Oakes for the first time. This store definitely a new favorite. From bold & beautiful New Mexico Native American cuffs to adorably functional & locally-designed dresses, to a wide selection of fragrances designed by Roberta herself... Oh and totally cute, affordable sunglasses with funky cases sold separately... I'm loving this place! Most importantly, Roberta was a doll. Helpful and fun to chat with. Can't say enough good things about the clothes and the owner. I adore my RO women's aloha shirts - please never ever discontinue these! They fit perfectly, I don't have to worry about vanity sizing and look for an XXS, and best of all they require NO IRON. I'm also in love with the men's shirts and continually variable styles, the gifts, the jewelry...all that is enough to have me coming back for more. But a recent experience made me a permanent loyal customer: over the holidays I ordered a gift card to be delivered to my mailbox, and apparently we had a mail thief on our street because while tracking showed it as delivered, it was never received (neither was another package that arrived the same day). Sure I had lost the value for good, I nevertheless called the store and Roberta was happy to cancel that gift card and mail me a new one at no cost the very next day - which I promptly received. I totally appreciated her no worries style and desire to help out her customers - it meant so much to me that she cared. Definitely stop in and visit!! read more
