I also make my own smoothies at home and I pretty much order the same type of smoothie I make at home...if it ain't broke, don't fix it, amirite? I've noticed a few times coming here, there are different people working and the past two visits have left much to be desired. I just ordered the Breakfast Smoothie, which is the only smoothie I order from here. I sometimes add protein but ALWAYS add chia seeds and cayenne. For some reason on this visit, I received a weirdly loose smoothie. I added cayenne, chia and vanilla protein. The person that took the order was not the one that made my smoothie. It was extremely sweet and watery which doesn't make sense if I'm adding protein powder. I asked if they add sweeteners and was informed that they add agave. This is not listed on their menu boards and if they do add sweeteners, they should inform the public so we can opt out if necessary. As I said, the smoothie is extremely watery and when adding chia seeds, it thickens the smoothie, especially when blending it. I asked the girl who made the smoothie, if she added the chia and she then asked the guy who took the order. He said they did but you can tell that they didn't or they didn't use much. Chia seeds leave black specks in smoothies, even when using a Vitamix. I'm not sure what's happened to the quality control but I'll probably wait a bit before coming back. The time before this, a completely different person was behind the counter and she added the protein powder but didn't make up for it with any additional almond milk so I ended up with a ridiculously thick smoothie. I'm seriously gonna need them to vet the people they leave behind the counter. You have to adjust for customizations, y'all. For real. Three stars bc my son's smoothie didn't get screwed up.

But last we were in the owner appeared to have instructed the wait staff to come and tell me that outside water bottles were not allowed in the restaurant. I mean it was warm, I have a condition I am battling that requires constant hydration and so I always have a 16 or 20oz water bottle in my hand. I eat out probably 500 times a year for the last say 25 years so say more than 10000 eat outs and have never been hassled about drinking water I had in process to stay healthy, so this is kind of an extreme outlier to me. We haven't been back since and likely won't ever go back even though we live in the neighborhood, since it just so destroyed the vibe to be hassled over a 50 cent bottle of water. We generally tip 30 to 40% even on $100 plus bills so it is just in my view a dumb business decision to hassle over something like that and lose what I would guess is $2500 in revenue from this customer a year. For sure the owner can run the business however he wants, but doubt the hassling behavior is increasing revenue for him.

I used to order food from Roberto's all the time, but about a week ago, my mom had ordered and paid for delivery for my 13 year old niece, when the driver came to our house, he handed my niece the food, she said thank you and proceeded to close the door WHEN THE GROWN MAN DECIDED TO FORCE THE DOOR BACK OPEN AND DEMAND A TIP FROM A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL bc "he works hard all day and is 'supposed' to get a tip." My niece had to search everywhere for just $2 to give this GROWN. MAN. are you kidding me?? First of all, my house is just around the corner so it's not like he was going far, and tip is not mandatory! You DO NOT FORCE THE DOOR BACK OPEN AND DEMAND MONEY FROM A CHILD. And when my mother called back, the manager (or whoever it was that answered the phone) said "well he has a point. He works hard and deserves tips". You deserve to be arrested for harassing a THIRTEEN YEAR OLD CHILD FOR TWO FREAKING DOLLARS. Sucks bc my family and friends have been ordering from you guys for years. Located on Tuckahoe road, it shares the space with a few other businesses - namely Cafe Billiards. Parking lot is decent, but it's probably best to park along one of the sides as the front can sometimes get congested. 'Famous' is absolutely correct.
