I came here on a Thursday evening planning to dine in, but because it was busy, there weren't any tables available. I was offered a seat at a table of four with one empty chair, but I declined and instead placed a to-go order for a plain cheeseburger and fries. I completely understand that busy restaurants have waits, and that wasn't really my issue. After waiting more than 30 minutes for a simple order, I noticed a table for two had opened up. Since I had originally intended to eat there, I asked if I could now be seated. I was told that because my order had already been entered as to-go, it would be coming in a box. That was disappointing. There wasn't anyone waiting to be seated, the table remained empty, and a little flexibility would have gone a long way. When I asked how much longer my order would take, I was told they were making it "right now." By the time my food was ready, I'd been waiting 43 minutes. Another table for two had also opened up, and my order was initially handed to another customer before it finally made its way to me. The food didn't make up for the experience. The top bun on my burger was burnt enough that I removed it before eating. After that, the burger was just okay, and the crinkle-cut fries were disappointing. My frustration isn't that the restaurant was busy. It's that there was an opportunity to turn the experience around, and no one seemed interested in doing so. Good customer service isn't just about getting the order right. It's also about recognizing when a small gesture can leave a customer with a much better impression. Unfortunately, that didn't happen here.

It's all about the pizza here. Super thin, slightly salty crust topped with the perfect sauce and incredible cheese. Kale Caesar salad was a bit much and enjoyed the fresh mozzarella app but next time I'd rather opt for more pizza. It's that good. Parking can be a challenge in that neighborhood.

Went hungry and ordered a lot of food for the 3 of us, plus, they had a wrong order so we got a free pizza on top! We had: 1) beet salad - 4/5. Basic, but also very refreshing and on point. Good dressing. 2) vodka pasta - 4/5. Good pasta and sauce. The smokey flavor is very forward. 3) Margherita pie - 5/5. On point. 4) meatball pie - 3/5. Rather dry. 5) fig pie - 4/5. Sweet and delicious. 6) stacked eggplant parm - 3/5. I thought it was a little on the dry side, but my friends enjoyed it! Overall, great service, quaint space, would go back.

Pizzeria La Rosa is a family-friendly restaurant that can be difficult to park since it's on a very narrow street. Service was great but the food was overhyped and overpriced. For two people, we ordered a lot because I wanted to make sure I tried the popular dishes. It's started with the meatballs and beet salad as our appetizers. The price and portion didn't really match. Don't get me wrong, the meatballs were good but small. You get about 5 pieces with 3 small bread. The "large" beet salad was good but nothing spectacular. The size was misleading because it more like a small bowl that was topped off. The wings were tasty but slightly on the salty side but pricey for the amount. The chicken parm was big but bland and there's an extra $6 for pasta. Finally, their Margherita pizza good. It was thin and crispy but very little ingredients so the taste was just okay. There was no cheese pull and the sauce and basil were light. Texture was not a traditional NY style pizza or even a Neapolitan style either so don't expect any chewiness. It's a very thin and crispy which was different but god. Overall, I love the old-school pizzeria charm and relax atmosphere but not sure if it's worth the hype.

I love this place - great pizza and great vibes. It's become one of my go to spots when I want to grab casual food and drinks with friends/family in New Rochelle. My only issue with this place is the parking which gets tricky. There's a parking lot but it's often full and getting street parking nearby is tough.

Don't tell anyone, but on Thursday's they have smash burgers that maybe one of the best you'll ever eat. They come in single, double or triple. The staff is great and you really feel like this is a family tradition to providing excellent service. Prices are good. The dining area and bar has a relaxing atmosphere so you can wind down and enjoy great conversation.

We ordered takeout to eat on the road, we didn't get any utensils. We ordered the grandma meatballs which in their photo shows meatballs with Parmesan cheese parsley and a side of oiled bread. We got 5 tiny meatballs with no bread or cheese. Definitely not worth $15. We also ordered the bolognese pie and chicken parm. The pie was just ok it didn't have much flavor and the parm was actually really good but if I'm ordering meatballs and chicken parm I'm expecting utensils. The way our food looked vs the way it looks for people who are dining in is like night and day. I don't think just because you order to go the quality should go down or you should get less ingredients. That's really bad service. Also when I went in to pickup no one looked up and me who worked there I stood around for a couple minutes then had to ask the bar tender where to go. He just points left so I go and there's about 5 employees and they all just look at me and no one says anything. I was getting frustrated so I said I'm picking up my order and another employee from the other side I guess noticed no one was saying anything and came over to help me.

YOU NEEED to go and try the smash burger here. Top 3 I've ever had. (I've eaten a lot of burgers from all over the globe) great service, all of the pizza, food specials they have are amazing. Smash burger is served only on Thursdays just a FYI. Thanks to the whole La Rosa crew!

I've reviewed this spot before when trying their delivery, which is great. Tonight, my husband and I dined in. It was even better! This place is definitely mid-Atlantic. Not quite northeastern/New England. But big wooden bar, large, spacious, high wooden booths. Big Christmas lights hanging along the mirror. You can see the white tile pizza kitchen in the back. Young people, laid back and cool, as servers. This is a neighborhood kind of place. We had the Margherita pizza, which was crispy, hot, and delicious. We also had the bolognese pasta, made with fusili lunghi buco, beef, soffritto bolognese, and cold ricotta. The pasta was the perfect al dente, the beef was well seasoned, and the flavors were quite unexpected, but very good. We also had the arancini which was crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and served with a tasty marinara sauce. This spot has several types of pizza, pasta, salad, and parms. Service is awesome. Love the vibe of this spot. Delivery is good, dining in is better.

This place was so cool, welcoming and home-y. I almost want to gatekeep lol. However, I'd prefer to see the small business thrive. The waiter we had was so chill, helpful, and honest. We were about to order two pies and he's like "Trust me you'll be stuffed with one." I respect that so much! Had to tip bro 25% because he's a real one. Also, all the patrons, bartenders, waiters/waitresses were interacting with each other the entire time. Great vibes. I went on a Sunday afternoon and ordered everything pictured. The pizza was SO good and unique. - Best way I can describe it would be like a perfectly crispy Neapolitan. - The sauce had a slight sweetness to it. - Ingredients tasted like they were imported from Italy. - My ONLY critique was the bolognese had too much star anise. It was a bit overpowering. FYI you can counteract that with a drop of fish oil and a lemon squeeze. Wings - Cooked to perfection - Perfectly crispy - Honey Lime hits different and the wing is not drenched Meatballs - I don't love meatballs in general but these were solid - Presentation was nice Perfect calm date. Check it out before they blow up because they're on the way.

We were a party of 7, and we all felt cared for, the staff was understanding, and attentive from the moment we sat down to leave. Each member in my party had something diffferent: 1. Wine was nicely poured, cocktails were tasty (although I didn't love my raspberry martini) beer was cold. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and welcoming. Will be coming back ASAP!

The restaurant is small and cozy. Large metal chandeliers adorn the ceilings and it has an upscale, rustic vibe with candles on the tables. Their menu is enticing. It's Italian inspired, but has lots of variety beyond the classic dishes. The appetizers were fantastic. The crispy artichokes were airy and melted in your mouth. The brussel sprouts were deliciously crispy with a pleasantly sweet sauce. I enjoyed the pistachios on them. The eggplant fries were a unique offering and very tasty topped with crumbled parmesan cheese. They would've been even better with a dipping sauce. For my main, I had the mushroom ravioli. The sauce was rich and creamy and it was topped with sharp parmesan and arugula. I enjoyed it, but the portion size was quite small, as the dish only included four pieces of ravioli. My husband got the black linguine and enjoyed the accompanying cream sauce with shrimp and lobster. To drink, I had the queen margherita, which was nice and tangy from the passion fruit. The waiters were great about refilling our water. The entrees took a little while to come out, but overall service was good. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Disappointed by the experience -- not what we've come to expect from The Modern…read more The four of us have been to The Modern many times and usually enjoy sitting at the bar for a more relaxed experience. Last night, however, was deeply disappointing. From the start, there was pressure to place food orders quickly, even though we were just settling in. We did order appetizers and later entrees--not an unreasonable timeline--but it felt like we were being hurried for no reason. The real issue came when we ordered a gluten-free pizza with toppings. What was delivered was essentially a round piece of bread with toppings -- not remotely what we expected. We tried several times to flag down the bartender, who proved extremely difficult to get the attention of. When we finally spoke to him and explained the error, the pizza was taken back, but then... nothing. We waited. And waited. More than 30 minutes passed while the rest of us finished our meals -- and still no replacement pizza. When we brought it up again, the bartender's attitude was indifferent at best. Frustrated, I went to the hostess stand and explained the situation. To their credit, the response was immediate: a manager stepped in, apologized, offered a round of drinks on the house, and ensured the corrected dish came out quickly. That level of service--from the manager and hostess--was appreciated and helped salvage the evening, but the overall experience was the worst we've ever had at The Modern. We may go back, but it will be with hesitation. The service at the bar needs serious attention. A restaurant of this caliber should never let service--or guest experience--slip this far.
