Better experience, still needs just a little polish. Wandering around on an early Tuesday, ended up back here. So decided to try again. The server/cook was jamming to some rock in the back. He starts me off with a coffee and I look through the menu. Didn't have any preference, so I asked the cook to cook me up whatever he wants to make me. 5 seconds later, he comes out with a single slice of white bread on a plate. This guy...I like. He goes back into the kitchen and whips me up what he was going to make himself for lunch. A ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some loaded breakfast tots with some Polynesian sauce. It looked really good, so i was very happy with the gamble. I'm terms of a sandwich, it's really good. The croissant is soft and buttery, grilled slightly but not overly charred. The Cheddar cheese was mild but flavorful, didn't overpower the dish and gave it a nice cheesy sharpness. The egg was hard cooked, so it was solid but a little too form for my liking. The ham was grilled and not overcooked. But the dish needed some seasoning. Some salt or some butter to elevate the flavors a little bit. It's well composed, but needed something more to punctuate the flavors. Something to bump up the umami if the ham and cut through the richness of the cheese. The loaded tater tots needed a little longer in the grease, they were a little cold in the middle. But I informed the cook of this and he offered to refire them for me. I declined, couldn't eat it all. The polynesian sauce was very close to chik fil a's version. It reminded me a bit if thousand island dressing with a little more sugar. Pretty good, but very sweet. Price cane out to 18, which was not too bad for a random order. Overall, I'm much more pleased this time around. Still not trek-worthy, but a very solid option for the area
Have lived in the area for 18 years and ate breakfast here recently for the first time. It was a recommendation through a Facebook posting comment. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. We arrived to find a waiting list, we showed up mid Saturday morning, so no surprise. No place to stand or wait for more than 4 people and it was occupied. We were informed they will text us when ready. The car was the perfect place to wait on a cold, drizzly morning. Wait time was minimal. Service by rendered by a young but well-seasoned and friendly staff. I was impressed with how well the waitresses worked together to know when and how to cover each other's tables and customers. Menu had an array of comfort-inviting dishes. Homemade corned beef hash was an option, that will be my next trip. I ordered chicken fried steak, gravy and biscuits, hash browns with soft scrambled eggs with a side of the extra thick country bacon. The hash browns are what I came to try, I was not disappointed, almost as good as Waffle House. A good breakfast eatery knows how to do soft scrambled eggs, many don't, ending up with mostly overcooked eggs. SH did mine perfectly. My wife ordered eggs Benedict with home fries, she said the eggs and hollandaise was prepared to perfection. There are many things I want to try from their menu, I will certainly be back here, I can't wait to try their corned beef hash. Where I live in Ellington, this is conveniently located in my backyard. I have driven by it hundreds of times and never gave it a thought it never looked like much from the outside. I need to stop judging places by their covers. Driving by and stopped in for an impromptu brunch. Initially the wait was to be 10 minutes but we were seat after about 5. I ordered the western omelet which comes with home fries and toast. She had the 2 egg sandwich with sausage. Both entrees were out in minimal time and pretty good. The server was attentive and a pleasure to have helping us. The atmosphere is very small town and comfortable. I nice spot in the country part of the area.
We love to go out for breakfast and it's always wonderful to find a new place to add to our list. Sunny House will definitely be returned to! It's right on Route 5 and across the street from East Windsor High. Nice, clean comfortable sit down restaurant. Good service. Coffee was good/strong- the way I like it. I had cheese omelette with a mix of cheddar & American. Perhaps because I was extra hungry, it was really delicious. Paid additional $1.50 for fruit ( than potatoes) - very good.
I really loved this place ! It was our first time here, my husband and I , for a late breakfast... 1 pm . Very friendly staff and we were seated right away. We got our coffee . And then placed our order. I liked their menu options for breakfast , a little bit of everything. They had 3 specials for the day, which I like. And I looked at the lunch menu for another day , and I really liked what they had to offer . I can't wait to go back!
OK. We needed to find a breakfast joint in Windsor where we were meeting some friends from MA. I am not familiar with the area so of course, I checked Yelp. Sunny House came up with great reviews and a simple breakfast menu. I went in with no expectations, just to meet some friends for breakfast and would get something simple like eggs. I decided on the two eggs (over easy) and bacon which came with toast and home fries. I was oddly blown away. With simple breakfast food you don't expect much tbh. I don't know what it was, but the bacon had such a distinct flavor. Like it was fried. I can't put my finger on it but it was amazing! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the home fries were nice and charred. Only regret is I didn't ask for hot sauce! Everyone else in our group felt the same way about their meals. The staff was friendly and they were very generous with the coffee refills (I think my husband had 4 cups in total). If we ever find ourselves back up north, we'll be back!

Lots of choices for the breakfast and lunch menu. I had the steak and cheese omelet with home fries and sourdough toast. The home fries were cooked with onions that were almost caramelized and had a light French onion flavor to them. Definitely my favorite home fries yet. The decaf coffee was very good here. The place is cute, too. It's clean and has a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time I'm visiting my mom.

The actual wait was about 20 minutes faster than what we were quoted so that was a plus. We ordered a western omelette, French toast, kielbasa, pancakes, veggie omelette, and sausage egg and cheese sandwich. All of the food was good. Everything came out hot and tasty. The omelettes were stuffed and had a nice amount of filling. The home fries were well seasoned which is a big deal for my husband lol. The staff was friendly and they seemed like they worked as a team. I would definitely go back.

Happen to stop by here and have some breakfast. We've passed this place many times but never early enough for breakfast. My husband and I got the western omelette and it spinach, the corner beef hash and thick slice of bacon. Everything was really good. The potatoes were nice and crispy on the outside and soft in the inside yum! Th cooked bed beef hash you can tell it's really good it was seasoned well. The restaurant was nice and clean. The service was excellent I was very pleased. And yrs will definitely go back. read more

Day one of our 7-day road trip started off at The Sunny House for breakfast, and what a great way to kick things off! It's a cozy little diner that fills up quickly, but the line moved fast so no worries there. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with home fries, and everything was absolutely delicious. The best part? The quirky décor--there are fun little chickens tucked all around the restaurant, which adds to the charm. A perfect small-town diner vibe to start the trip right! read more

We love to go out for breakfast and it's always wonderful to find a new place to add to our list. Sunny House will definitely be returned to! It's right on Route 5 and across the street from East Windsor High. Nice, clean comfortable sit down restaurant. Good service. Coffee was good/strong- the way I like it. I really loved this place ! It was our first time here, my husband and I , for a late breakfast... 1 pm . Very friendly staff and we were seated right away. We got our coffee . Excellent experience. A bit of a wait on a Sunday morning but great system. They take your number down and text you when table is ready. The girls are extremely efficient and on top of their patrons. Service was 10/10! Great little family diner! Highly recommend!! read more

Sweet place that is essentially a VERY reasonably priced diner with a little flare on the menu. I drove up here just to try something different and there are not a ton of options around but it was clear when I parked that Sunny House was busy on a Sunday morning. Coming inside, I was seated promptly because I was alone but most parties had to wait a bit to be seated. There were some cool things on the menu including some seasonal specials but I chose my standard which is eggs benny. The food was tasty but nothing wild in my standard dish. Throughout my dining time, the service was quick and attentive. Like I opened with, the prices are amazing. You can find a reasonably hearty breakfast on the menu for about $10 which is quite a good deal if you ask me. Good diner for breakfasty things. Would certainly come back. read more
Sunny House stands right in front of East Windsor High school and I have passed by this place countless times. Tried them for the first time for breakfast on "Good Friday". The place is cozy with limited seating and they serve breakfast and lunch. The restaurant had only few tables available when we walked in and we were seated quickly. I ordered the cream filled crepes with berries, my husband ordered a veggie omelette and my little one got a waffle. The crepes and waffles were delicious. Never knew this place served amazing crepes. The omelette wasn't bad though I'm not an omelette person. My husband was satisfied with his place! The food took really long to get on the table and the menu was priced a bit high for the portion size I guess. The menu has lot of options and want to try them for lunch sometime soon. read more

I decided to stop in and get a quick breakfast while my car is in for service at the repair shop next door. This place is taking the virus seriously, with outdoor dining, social distancing, hand sanitizer and masks. With the virus always front and center in the news every day, I feel comfortable having a meal here. The staff is friendly. The food is very good. read more
I've been wanting to try this spot forever and am now sorry that I waited so long. My pancakes were light and fluffy, eggs cooked perfectly. Homefries have a little paprika kick. My roommate had the kielbasa breakfast sandwich. The environment is clean and cozy. Service impeccable. (4.5 stars if I could) Felt like being at grandmoms place for breakfast, had my grandmom only made great pankcakes. read more
I used to LOVE to go out to breakfast! It's the best meal to get at a restaurant and the cheapest to boot. Sadly, with three kids, this does not happen often. My wife and 2 girls were doing girly things so it was just my 9 year old son and me. With time and a wad of cash, we decided to try Sunny House. A co-worker highly recommended Sunny House so we decided to try it. The atmosphere is amazing with a corner nook feel. There was no wait, but the restaurant was pretty full. The menu was full and very tall. I was not expecting such a selection. Sunny Place also serves lunch and on weekends too. We passed on the pot roast and went with a traditional breakfast. I ordered the chef's omelette, which was loaded with bacon, sausage and ham. Good lord, I'm going to have a coronary, but it was worth it. My son had chocolate chip pancakes. He loved them, but would have liked a little whipped cream. I find it so hard to find great breakfast places around here and I'm very happy we added Sunny's Place to our rotation. read more

Finally got to try this place out!!! After passing by this busy place multiple times in the past year and half since our move, we finally had the time to drop by! We got lucky with no waiting to be seated as we came at 11am on a Wednesday. Be mindful that this place is small. If you have a party larger than 4... good luck on the weekends... We ordered the Italian omelette, the chef's omelette, blueberry pancakes, black coffee, and French vanilla coffee. The omelettes were super fluffy and packed with ingredients. Absolutely loved how the ingredients were not sparsely added. It was also, super cheesy and came out super hot (so fresh!) the pancakes were airy and fluffy and omg so many blueberries! I loved it, but boyfriend thought there were too many blueberries idk. Also, the coffee. Black coffee was standard. French vanilla coffee, idk what I was thinking... I thought it would be like a latte lol but it was literally just French vanilla black coffee haha Overall, very very good. Will be back! read more

My husband and I went here for breakfast on the weekend. Cozy little place with some booths and tables. It was full when we got there and there was a little bit of a wait. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and portion was generous. I got the caramel banana waffle. It was tasty. My husband got eggs, bacons, pancakes, and corned beef hash. He finished everything! Thumbs up and would visit again! read more

Wow this place is popular! We came on a weekend and the wait was quite long so we opted for sitting at the bar instead of a table. This is your traditional diner that serves both breakfast foods, lunch/dinner types of foods. We ordered a daily special and a breakfast combo that came with eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns , and pancakes. The sandwich was a bit heavy and hard to finish but the breakfast combo was great. It was a large serving of pancakes, eggs your way, and two strips of bacon. I think what makes this place so popular is the service. It's hard to go wrong with breakfast food but there are a few disappointing places out there. The only con is their limited hours which is typical for most diner type of places and this place is small relative to the amount of customers they have on a Sunday morning. I dogsit in the area so I'll definitely be back. read more

Service was awesome and food was good. Close To the highway. The have a booth when you walk in so if you're in a rush and don't wanna wait it's a good idea to sit there if it's not taken. read more
