I visited this car wash on June 22 during a very busy afternoon. There were four separate lines of…read morevehicles feeding into the wash tunnel. After entering the tunnel and placing my car in neutral, I quickly noticed that my vehicle was getting dangerously close to the car in front of me. I eventually had to apply my brakes to avoid hitting it. At the same time, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw that the car behind me was experiencing the same issue. The conveyor continued pushing vehicles forward, and the car behind me ultimately struck my rear bumper multiple times. After several minutes, the staff finally shut down the wash and instructed the vehicle at the front of the tunnel to move forward so the rest of us could exit. Once I reached the vacuum area, I inspected my vehicle and found scratches on my rear bumper. The driver behind me and I were both frustrated and confused by what had happened. More concerning was the fact that no staff member came out to address the incident. We went into the office to report it, but the attendant simply handed us a form and told us they would provide video footage so we could handle the matter ourselves with the vehicle at the front of the line. What was especially frustrating was that the car wash made no apparent effort to stop or identify the vehicle at the front of the line that contributed to the backup inside the tunnel. When we asked about that vehicle, we were simply told that they had already left. No attempt appeared to have been made to retain the driver's information or assist the affected customers in resolving the situation. In my opinion, the car wash allowed vehicles to enter too closely together, leaving very little margin for error if a vehicle failed to exit the tunnel promptly. The incident itself was concerning, but the lack of accountability and customer service afterward was even more disappointing. If you're concerned about the safety of your vehicle, I would think twice before using this car wash.

I know the customers and the types of people who visit this wash and they wouldn't stand for this. But yet this is how I left. The women working inside was pleasant. Last week, however, I decided to put in some elbow grease and try this self-serve car wash. Perhaps it was the 90+ degree heat melting my brain cells, a twang of nostalgia tied to helping my dad wash down his cars every summer, or the fact that I knew I'd have to roll through LA Express or Bellagio at least 10x to get it clean. It's $1/minute and the timer feels like I'm on a game show trying to beat the clock. To outsiders, I probably looked like Eric Andre or Mr. Bean in my comedic race to beat the clock that I accidentally over-timed. NOTE: The dial is sensitive. The attendant told me it only charges when the nozzle gets started. (Umm, maybe? Or maybe I got charged an extra 50¢ for dilly-dallying.) EQUIPMENT: The water pressure, various brushes, and color-coded dials with instructions are in good working shape. I loved the tire brush with lots of soap and was excited to finally see chrome under all that grime. Overall the docks are clean, people come and go. The vacuum station is efficient but you have to pay more for using them. MONEY: I paid $14 to hand wash and scrub my filthy car, but that didn't include vacuuming. The place was filled with car lovers, rubbing down their babies and buffing out the dirt with their hands, while speaking sweet nothings into them. If you have an old car and want to personally give it more love, then this is one solution. To my understanding, LA doesn't allow us to let carwash water go into our streets/runoffs/gutters. VERDICT: For the price and the amount of work, I'd probably just pay my monthly subscription at my drive-in, roll-through options and shell out the extra few dollars. But if you're an anal retentive clean-freak who uses Q-tips to detail your car, this is a clean, efficient, and well-run DIY hub that allows you all the control you need/want to get your baby sparkling.

The attendant initially resisted changing it and only did so after I insisted. I've used this location many times for oil changes and upgraded car washes, so this was disappointing. The issue wasn't the few dollars. It was that I clearly asked for the cheapest wash and wasn't given it. I do want to recognize the cashier, who was friendly, honest, and helpful. Without her, I never would have known I was being charged for the wrong wash.
