I first met Matthew when he helped a friend's father deal with numerous gas leaks in a mobile home. It was a difficult situation, but he was responsive, professional, and thorough. Later, after we moved into a home in Lancaster, I asked the company to travel from Simi Valley to help overhaul several parts of the plumbing system. The house needed a new regulator and cleanout, and an addition had been plumbed incorrectly with the hot and cold lines reversed. They also replaced an older water heater with a tankless system and rerouted portions of the gas piping as we converted more appliances and systems to electric. They handled several additional problems that demonstrated both persistence and honesty. A serious clog in the main kitchen drain line took more than two hours to break through, but they stayed with it until the line was cleared. During the home inspection, we had also been told that approximately ten feet of piping beneath the house appeared cracked and might need to be replaced. After performing a full video inspection of the plumbing system, Matthew's team determined that the marks were likely only surface scuffs and that the pipe was safe to continue using. Their willingness to give an honest assessment instead of recommending an unnecessary replacement meant a great deal to us. Most recently, they helped at a Scottish Rite commercial building where more than sixteen feet of older cast-iron drainage piping had collapsed. The affected section included multiple connections serving different drains in one of our primary bathrooms. They replaced and rerouted the damaged piping, charged a very fair price, and once again delivered quality work. It is rare to find a plumbing company equally comfortable handling mobile-home gas leaks, a major residential overhaul, difficult drain problems, video inspections, and complex commercial cast-iron drainage repairs. Highsmith & Daughters has been responsive, honest, efficient, and reliable throughout every project. I would gladly call them again and strongly recommend them.

They came to our home and within 2 minutes was giving me a quote of $17.5k. Didn't look at the pipes or listen to me at all. I told them I didn't need the kitchen pipes redone, only the bathrooms, and he told me kitchen pipes are always they worst, so we'll do that, too. He said they'd tunnel 6 ft under the foundation of the property, putting someone completely under the house without looking at how it was built or the current state of it. When I asked him questions he was clearly annoyed with me. We've had lead pipes in places, but when I asked about it he said we have good water pressure so I don't need to worry about lead. That makes no sense. After that I stopped asking because I figured we would just be wasting time. I knew at that point I wasn't using this company. They never sent me an estimate or followed up at all. Every red flag in the book. I'd be very careful with this company.

Not only was their communication poor, I found their price to be almost outrageous. You have competitive pricing and luckily we have received more complete bids with less than half the cost. I chose to go with a with licensed C-36 that's been in the business for 30+ years & 15 year guarantee. Word of the wise, invite several trades to your project at the same time. Get these guys to bid more competitively and hold them accountable for price gouging. I'm giving two stars only because I actually received a bid. Not complete or detailed mind you. We called JC Plumbing based on their great Yelp reviews - Julio called back immediately and said they could be out within the hour. They kept their promise: Julio & Cesar arrived on time and explained their method and cost. We agreed, they proceeded (removing some Sheetrock, filling the shower pan with water, watching for source) and they determined that the shower pan construction ("hot mop") had failed. Although JC doesn't reconstruct hot mop shower pans, they gave us exactly what we needed today: great service, quick response, methodical work and the definitive source of the problem. We now know what to do for our next step. By the way, another plumbing company that we contacted (before calling JC) said that their first move would be breaking up the concrete slab to discover the leak. Thank goodness we hesitated on that other company and called JC Plumbing - we saved ourselves a world of hurt!

An outside leak was investigated to determine whether it was the HOA's responsibility. The leak detection visit was arranged through the HOA, and I never consented to hiring T Top Plumbing for myself. Very little was done during the visit, yet I was later told I had to reimburse the company once the leak was deemed homeowner responsibility. I later learned the leak detection company used charges significantly less than what I was billed, with the difference attributed to a "dispatch" fee that was never disclosed or approved. The invoice itself states that I declined further locating and marking once responsibility was determined. If I declined continued service once responsibility was determined, it is unreasonable to bill me for services I neither requested nor authorized. Homeowners should be cautious and get everything in writing before allowing any involvement from this company.

I called a licensed plumber, he took his time and was able to light pilot; hot water is on and no repair required ... What a racket this company is!!! Who makes $629 for 45 minutes of work .... BUYER BEWARE with this company! I had to pay $59 for a 'service call' and he gave an incorrect diagnosis ... so sad. UPDATE: Per telephone conversation with Payless Water Heater management, they have decided to revisit their pricing structure -- especially for small repairs. on tuesday, oct 11, 2016, @ 1:25 pm pst mr. e ,one of my tenants e-mailed me. i opened the e-mail, tuesday, oct 11, 2016@ 1:40 pm mst it related: "hot water tank just blew out at bottom please advise". i immediately called my plummer who has replaced water heaters for me in the past. he told me he was getting to old to lift water heaters and referred me to robert's plumbing at: 818.298.1344. (northridge ca.) i immediately called robert telling him my former plumber recommended him. also, that "i live in montana and my tenant lives in sylmar, california and his heater just blew out. he said he would put in the water heater. i've had some "really bad experiences" with plumbers in the last 35 years and took his statement with a grain of salt. i gave robert the tenant's address, phone number. gallonage and location of the water in the house. approximately 20 minutes later i called my tenant, mr. e., to tell him robert's plumbing would be calling him. mr. e said robert had already called him and would be at the house @ 4:00 pm. (tuesday oct. 11, 2016). on wednesday october 12, 2016, i called my tenant who said that robert arrived at the house at 4:00 pm, removed the old water heater, installed the new water heater and left the house shortly before 6:00 pm. i live in montana, have never met robert and only know of robert's plumbing thru a recommendation of my "former" plummer. robert's plumbing is now my plummer. how could he not be given the absolutely excellent five star service. he has my highest recommendation. this says it all: if you don't call robert's pluming you'r cheating yourself out of some excellent service. mp, montana read more

I saw Robert working on a project a couple of blocks from my house. I asked if he would be available to check on my clogged line. He came over that afternoon. The snake didn't work but he was persistent and sent a camera down the line and explained everything to me while he was doing it. Where the opening narrowed considerably he sent a hooked line in and pulled out a plastic collar that was wedged in the pipe. Problem solved and we both smiled at the results. Robert and his assistant were great. I live on a hillside and have 140' of sewer line. They showed up on time and using incredibly well maintained equipment did an incredibly thorough HydroJet of my sewer line. He showed me HD Video of the pipe mid way and at the end of the job that showed how clean it was. I used to get the line snaked twice a year and that wasn't working. For a small water heater the price was in the thousands and spoke with supervisors and not directly to a plumber. Saturday morning at 10:00am. Robert calls me. He gives me a great price and says, I will drive immediately to the plumbing suply and pick up the the water heater, by this time he only had a half hour to get their. They close at 11:30am. This sweet man says "don't worry u can pay me later when I complete the job". I have a cast on my knee and I can't drive at the moment. I get that you have to charge for your time, and that can variy, BUT, when you are being scammed for parts that have zero issues or relation to the unit, and its not even preventative...NO WAY.. Even in the conversation you can tell how scamy this place is...evading questions. Straight up greed infested business. I am CERTAIN you will be pleased or in major fear of not having water and open your wallet to such businesses, and they will smile and make your emotions calm and you will be at ease...but that is all you paid for. These are parasites. Then he claimed the part isn't available, and he pushed to swap out the unit. A little web search and the parts magically were available (Not even needed!). Crazy part was that the issue was simple enough that I fixed it myself with a couple O-rings. Oh, he also damaged a valve getting it out(luckily not bad enough to replace (what a tool). These guys will damage things on the idea of "emergency" and you will need more parts. They come and seam professional, and they explain things vaguely in case you know what they are talking about....It really bothers me that we have such parasites! They should just run for office. These techs should stop working for such companies. They learn horrible ways to cheap and lie. Have human blood run through you, and do work independently, you can market yourself, you need that, on social, etc. The reason they can pay you 40-75$ an hour is because they are cheating people. Do honest work, do preventative measure options to see if client is in position to pay for it, and build from there. Not scum pond businesses. This was my experience and my take away from a variety of service providers. They West Coast Water Heaters falls into this category. I am sure they will claim he is fired, so we are better now.... the training camp says.
