This is an honest business. I was originally referred to Robin and as I have a 91 Ford Mustang that I could not pass smog and brought to four different shops and nobody would take this project on. It was a complicated situation but Robin looked at the car and I had all the proper equipment. Before I had a scheduled appointment Robin spent some time looking at my car twi different times, and he would not accept my money for his time, I want it Pam Saturday because he's the only one that would work on my car. Hi all. Im a busy plumber, and my work truck is my livelyhood. My truck started running sporadically. I dropped in and talked with Robin. He assured me that he would diagnose it that day. He not only took care of my worries. He gave my truck a full tune up., an inspection, and a list of things to get taken care of before they begin to be a problem. Robin was awesome with my car! I took my car to Robin's last week for help with my tire pressure light on, even after I filled my tires, and shifting gears was sounding rough on my 2008 Honda CR-V. Robin took the time to recreate the shifting gears issue I was having and taught me how to avoid it. He also filled up my tires and said if I have only 3 pounds less pressure in the tires, the sensor comes on. Robin was super honest and very helpful wIth my car. I'm going to go back to him when it's time for an oil change. UPDATE: My tires have been low again on air so I took my car back to Robin's and he did a quick diagnostic test on my tires and I had a really small nail in one of the tires. Robin did a quick patch on my tire and I was out of the shop in about 15 min! It only cost $20 and I was so grateful that I didn't need a new tire. Thank you, Robin! read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. If you are looking for a honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and affordable mechanic then don't look any further. Robins auto service is the place for you. I came in with a list of different concerns regarding my vehicle, and Robin was very attentive to each one. He was honest about some of my concerns not being anything to worry about, when other mechanics would probably try to take advantage and tell me I need to purchase services that I don't really need. The one concern that was legitimate (a knocking sound coming from under the back of my car when I hit bumps) was quickly diagnosed, he showed me the broken sway bar link under the car that was knocking, and he ordered the part and his team fixed it the same day. The estimate and final price was also much lower than I had expected and he even topped off all my fluids for free upon completion of the job. He has a comfy set of couches that you can sit on while waiting for the repair to be done too. He also told me that he noticed another repair I may need in the future, showed me the cause of it, and gave me another affordable estimate for that too. All in all, I'm very satisfied with my experience at this shop and I'm looking forward to continue utilizing their services for all my auto repair needs. Thanks guys! read more

Got tune ups and check safety on two Mercedes: 1) parking spaces for the service vehicle and towing truck to stop by are plenty. 2) did things right based on my request, always seek my permission when additional faults found and before fixing it. 3) service correspondents Robins and Carlo are conscientious, fair and considerate guys, they tried to work well on my budget. 4) their mechanic team must be super and efficient, because it is always so busy busy, but still, they cared for my time too. The funny thing about this place is that I didn't even Yelp it before I stopped in. BAD ANDREAS! BAD! *spraying myself with a water bottle* On to my experience: I was quickly greeted by a nice man in the office area and I told him my problem: I needed a smog test ASAP. Fast forward a few minutes and my car was in the bay and being hooked up. The technician was friendly, funny, and even gave me a chance to tweak a lingering issue under my hood with some of the shop's tools. Way cool. A few minutes later I walked out with a smog-tested vehicle (I passed!) and a smile on my face. Great group of people, great prices, and an overall 5-star experience. Cheers! read more

They called me and asked if there was anything else I needed looked at, and then gave me their honest opinion on what needed to be done (my brakes) and said I could wait until my next oil change! Took my old Toyota into Robin's for the first time based on the reviews here. I called and made an appointment. They were friendly and efficient and reasonably priced. Update....I took my Toyota in again for another service (I was commuting 100 miles a day, so a service was due again). This time, they weren't as friendly nor as efficient. My service took two and a half hours even though I had an 8am appointment and was waiting for the car. The cost was also expensive for some extra parts needed. Some of the work was even done on my car whilst parked outside of the shop. Other people were also kept waiting when no one was available to serve them. I won't be going here again. read more

Robin is great. He is a straight shooter. He never tries to sell you something you don't need. He often goes way out of his way to do small things without trying to nickel and dime you. One Saturday years ago, Robin worked very late on a Saturday night to finish some work on our SUV before we took off for Tahoe the next morning. These guys are the best. Always quick, efficient, friendly, and trustworthy. I went March 2016 for a battery change. They were quick and were able to take me right away. I went August 2016 for an oil change, tire rotation, brake/tire/fluid check and in less than 40 minutes, they finished everything! I have been having our cars serviced by Robin for many years (even before he moved from Larkspur Gas downtown). They are outstanding. Robin is the smartest and most fair mechanic I've ever met. He understands customer service and is always willing to work with you. Every time I've been there I come away with a smile on my face. Several months ago, I went to Robin to have my slightly leaking transmission checked and was told that I will need to leave it alone since there are no replaceable parts to fix it and that I should run my car until the transmission dies. I was not told to buy any unnecessary parts or services that I did not need (which a car dealer would try to do) which I very much appreciated. The owner is an expert mechanic and very honest. He will check out the problem you are having sometimes on the spot and will let you know what the issue is. Too bad he is out of my area but will gladly drive out there if I have a major problem since he is the best! read more

These are guys are awesome, even if all they had to do was a transmission service I have already saved over $500 in towing fees and here's the story how.... So I am coming home from Stinson Beach and about half way back to highway 101 I lose 90% of power and my check engine light fires up with an additional message stating my so far reliable Saab was having a gearbox malfunction and to see a dealer...Thankfully I made it somewhere I had cell service to get my baby towed on a flatbed to a shop within 5 miles of where I was (some shitty insurance I have since upgraded). Well anyways I was concerned, not only because I was staring at a possible tranny replacement but that the replacement would be made in a shop in Greenbrae (it's pretty expensive out there). The guys were upfront about the time it would take just to be able to start looking at it and even though it was Saturday it wasn't like I had much of a choice so I figured the upcoming Tuesday (today) would be D-day or in this case T-day. Low and behold once they finished clearing the code they checked, took it on a couple test drives and after completing a full service on the transmission I was able to pick my car up today (Tuesday as promised) and it only cost me $107 n change. The true test was driving it home which to be honest with what I read online could of gone in several directions, thankfully both the car and my wallet survived this scare, THANKS TO THE GUYS @ ROBIN'S!!! I would recommend checking these guys out, not just when you are stuck but anytime your vehicle starts to hiccup!!! They are a little far for most preventive maintenance but I will see you guys in 30,000 for another service!!!! read more

Finding a new mechanic is one of the big headaches that comes along with moving, I must say I am so happy to have chosen Robin's! Both my husband and I got our Toyota's serviced here. I will definitely stick with this auto shop for my time in Marin. They are extremely welcoming and polite. For the past 17 years, I'd been taking my cars to an auto shop in Uptown Oakland (Torchio's) where my office was located. However, my office moved to San Francisco, so when my car battery died, I wanted to find an auto shop near my home, that was open on Saturdays. Using Yelp, I may have found my new auto shop, Robin's Auto Service. I called on Friday, and got a noon appointment for Saturday. Robin and his staff are very friendly, and in under an hour, I got an oil change and new battery installed at a fair price. I waited in their waiting area, but Trader Joe's, Cost Plus and Bevmo are a short walk away. read more

It's disappointing because I was quite satisfied with this auto shop. I came here a few times because they were honest about the work needed on my car and they were happy to help. I appreciate that kind of service. But I'm sure I'll be able to find this at another place. I came here on March 19th, 2016 and got a smog. I didn't receive a certificate and just assumed they logged it into some system automatically, which they later told me they do! So yay, right? No. Even though it was my third visit and they had record of my vehicle, they entered the information incorrectly and so the DMV didn't see that I had a smog and didn't register my vehicle. It's in "pending status." Things happen and so I didn't get all upset with Robin's Auto Service..initially. They made a mistake so I went there to get it resolved. I called in advance and Carlo told me that the only person who can issue smog certificates will be there ANY MINUTE so I should just come by and get my certificate. After I get there, 45 minutes go by and Carlo is running around in the back helping another customer. I'm then told that Robin will be there in another 30 minutes. That's 1 hour and 15 minutes I'm expected to wait without a "thank you for being patient," or an "I'm sorry we screwed up." No, Carlo actually has the audacity to say, "these things happen, I don't know what you want me to tell you." That's rude service. I literally sat there patiently while he wasn't in the office so I don't even know what could have made him this way. Maybe he's having a rough day but to be taking it out on someone who you told to wait for 1 minute, and it turns into 45...you should apologize or at the very least be respectful. I had to come back and get my smog certificate because I couldn't wait any longer and that'll be the LAST time I come here. read more
