He was thorough and took his time explaining the procedure to me and my husband and when I called him at 8AM on a Sunday morning, he called back within minutes and got some new meds called into the pharmacy for her. He is not only an expert at what he does but he's a as good of a human as he is a doctor. He cares about his patients and makes himself available to them. His staff is also fantastic! I wish he was an expert across all medical fields so my whole family could use him for all of our medical needs.

I was repeatedly billed for charges my insurance had already paid, and despite multiple attempts to resolve it, they sent me to collections anyway. I ultimately had to insist they contact the billing/credit department themselves to fix their own mistakes. Over the years, scheduling was always difficult. After being away for about three years, I began having serious health concerns, I tried to schedule six months in advance and was told to call back closer to the date. I carefully arranged flights, hotel, rental car, and multiple specialist appointments within a three or four -day window. Then, just two weeks before my trip, the office called to cancel because Dr. Kelley was going on vacation. No real apology. No concern. No effort to accommodate me. Just: he won't be available. When I said this was a major hardship and asked for another appointment, I was stunned by their response: they told me they did not want to continue seeing me because I had not been in for three years. Let that sink in. A former cancer patient returns with renewed symptoms and concern about recurrence, and instead of helping, they refuse care. I then asked for a referral and was given the name of a random head-and-neck doctor--not even an appropriate oncologist for my situation. The lack of compassion, professionalism, and basic human decency from this office was shocking. They even knew it and a day later tried to make up for it with an email and a phone call saying they had done my insurence research to get the right referral. "even though that is my responsibility". Un believable. Go some where else!!!! Like most Dr's these days it's just a business. Nothing more than collect money cover your ass and go home, Dr.s. these days. So sad.

I went in for a consult about an elective procedure - not the procedure itself, just a meeting to discuss potential side effects. The entire visit took about 10 minutes, but I'll be generous and say it was 15 minutes. Dr. Verma did a laryngoscopy that took less than 2 minutes and then explained the process for the procedure. I learned nothing new about the procedure that I hadn't already read on Reddit. But fine, this initial consult is required for the procedure. Figured it wouldn't be that expensive to just ask a doctor if Reddit was right (BTW he confirmed Reddit was, in fact, a good resource to learn about this procedure). When I got the bill for this "consult" I figured there had to be a mistake. They had billed the office visit as a code 99205 at $974.00. That was **in addition** to the laryngoscopy code 030575 at $592.00. That's a cool $1,566.00 all-in. Dude's billing $6,264 per hour? That's Beyonce money. If you look up the description for a code 99205 "provider visit", you'll find it's typically 60 minutes with a comprehensive history, comprehensive exam with high complexity decision-making and an extensive amount and/or complexity of data to be reviewed. This exam was none of those things. That's called insurance upcoding, my friends. This was a code 99202 (99203 if I'm being generous). My insurance adjusted his $1,566.00 to $1,035.79 and then billed me $530.21. I spent about 2 months trying to get Dr. Verma's office to bring the billing code down. Always difficult to reach, always referring me to the billing department at UCI Health (who couldn't do anything for me), but I finally got the office to lower the provider visit code. These MF'ers lowered the 99205 at $974.00 to a 99204 at $739.00 and said that was the lowest Dr. Verma was willing to go, like he was doing me some big favor now. And then, of course, somehow my insurance increased what I was responsible for. I finally had to say F it and just pay the bill. So all said and done my 15-minute exam to rehash what I read on Reddit cost me $556.10 and my insurance paid him another $497.38. Complete f'ing scam. I ultimately decided against doing the procedure before I got this first bill, but man I'm glad I didn't go through with it because if this is what he's charging for a short office visit, I'd probably have to file for bankruptcy after doing the procedure. I would have been better off setting fire to $556.10 cash than doing this little office exam. Then I at least would have gotten some warmth from the flames.

Dr Bhandakar is extremely good, he cured my chronic sinusitis with a surgery years ago, but UCI, what a bunch of jokers. Two office visits within a month, each having to use the scope to look up my nose (the 2nd time the entire appt took 30 sec), the hospital billed insurance $5400 for the facility and the provider (doctor/staff) billed $2100. EACH VISIT. My insurance company paid $6700 each time which is really stupid and I have to pay the balance. Big racket with UCI knowing the right code to bill the most money. Bill was sent to review, took two months for any answer, then they just said code was correct. This is just like Las Vegas, you can only build big buildings if you overcharge your customers.
