We usually do the high tea which is always beautiful and delicious. Apparently this place doesn't answer their phone when they are busy. I tried to reach them several times before physically going there with my 9 month old daughter and my mother. I came here with a group of friends one day. The lady at the front seated us within 10 mins. However, once we started to place our order, the waitress kept trying to get us to order more tea or food. Then, she tried to tell us no food sharing.... it's our money paying for the food.....so we'll do whatever we want with the food we order. We already had lunch and only came here for the sweats. I've never been to any place that told us we can't share. We then ordered the 1 full service 3 tier with tea. She told us the chocolate chip scones were all gone so we choose another one. She takes the order behind us and we hear the table orders chocolate chip scones and she doesn't say they ran out. We didn't say anything to the lady at this point. She then brought out one plate and ignored everyone else sitting at the table. For the three tier pastries, we asked the waitress, what are the different types of pastries. She said it's the chefs choice and she just listed out all the possibilities. At this point everyone was annoyed because every response was "it's the chefs choice" and she doesn't know. Usually when you go somewhere they say it's the chefs choice of item 1 or item 2.... but this lady didn't know at all. Everything seemed overpriced, small portions and overcrowded tiny place. This is the best of Long Island! Tucked in a quaint shopping center, Robinsons Tea room did not disappoint! We tried the chicken salad sandwich, chili, quiche, turkey Brie and apple sandwich for starters and all were delicious! The loose leaf tea was divine and served in a large tea pit! Then onto the desserts! The scones were warm and the best I've ever had! Next we had the carrot cake! Oh my goodness! Literally every bit of the meal was perfect. I can't believe I've never reviewed this place. I've been coming here for seven years now, since attending SBU. The loose leaf tea list is long, the food is incredible and all homemade, and the scones are my favorite part of the visit. Fave teas of mine here include jasmine and also the cherry green tea. For scones, butterscotch pecan or the cinnamon- both are fantastic. I usually get their chicken Ceasar wrap- Jimmy, the owner and cook, grills the chicken in his homemade Caesar dressing. SO GOOD. Robinson's is awesome. I came here a couple of times with my good friend Gaurav (always the only male there AND always the only one bringing color) for tea. They have a large selection of fine loose teas, including black, green, white, and oolong, as well as hybrids. Flavors cover the spectrum: fruity, nutty, floral, sweet, even chocolatey. Come here for British high tea..they will give you assorted high tea sandwiches, scones with clotted cream (or as I say..coagulated cream), and dessert pastries. There is also the option to do substitutions if you don't want ham (or any meat) in your sandwiches, so come on in vegetarians. The only drawback to this place is high tea is pricey. Between 2 people it just breaks $60. it can also be difficult getting a reservation for high tea because this place packs out fast. The demographic here is mostly estrogen dominant (menopausal) women but I don't care, their tea and food is too good. Take your tea loving friends here on a beautiful sunny day. read more

Sigh. I just love this place. I love that it's family owned and operated. I love that they display teacups from noteworthy visitors (many of them Long Island natives). I love that they've kept it small when they could have expanded. I love the charming atmosphere and attention to detail- from the beautiful plates and teacups to the presentation and aroma of freshly baked scones. My family and I have been coming here for the past 20 years. I actually remember being a little kid and com in in with my family after a walk through the woods at Avalon and I was the only one who had any money on them, so we all split a piece of apple pie! This place is precious and sentimental; it hasn't lost any of it's charm. The only difference is that the secret is now out and more people know about all that Robinson's Tea Room has to offer! Something about their tuna wrap makes it outrageously tasty- I think it's the dressing. They serve it with a slice of cantaloupe and an orchid, which is a lovely touch. The chili is hearty and filling on a cold day. No matter what I order, I end the meal by splitting a cinnamon or cranberry orange scone. We always buy one or two to take home with us, too! The homemade clotted cream is out of this world; it adds a whole dimension of flavor. The raspberry preserves are succulent and sweet. Robinson's is an interesting place. This is a small, hole in the wall place with a upscale English tea-room atmosphere. My girlfriend and I went for lunch and we sat at a small table for two near the window. They have a huge selection of teas and people rave about the scones. In my opinion the scones were nothing super special, but ok. If you go here, you may want to take advantage of the "High Tea Service". We didn't, because it is quite expensive, but it looked like an interesting experience. Also, I believe you have to make a reservation for that in advance. Overall, I feel it's a bit on the pricey side. They also sell loose-leaf tea, but it's extremely expensive and I wouldn't trust the packaging they use to hold in the flavor. Anyways, I would recommend this place if you want somewhere with a peaceful Victorian atmosphere. The waiter showed a lot of etiquette and it's the kind of of place you also need to show proper etiquette, especially with other people sitting nearby (oftentimes, older women who look high brow). As I walked into this tea house, I was met with a very warm and smiley man. He told us to sit wherever we liked. After looking through the menu, I was very impressed with the large selection of tea. This tea room had a charming victorian countryside feeling to it. The location in beautiful stony brook village square makes it all the more real. I first came here when I was 12. I had my 13th birthday here - we had a tea party and I made all my friends wear dresses and gowns, that was so cute. The tea selection is really large. They have a lot of edible options with your tea too. I love the warm bri and apples. My mom and I will be opening a family tea house one day, and this place has been a huge inspiration. The decor, and the way it's run. The servers and owner are very friendly, and very knowledgeable about all the teas. The decoration is bright, floral, antique. All the tea cups are different, and unique. It's a nice place to go when it's rainy, because inside it always feels really sunny. They are closed on monday. Loving it! So cute! Like Hana said it is in this cute shopping village that is all white and nice to walk around. Their scones are good and you can easily share one with two people (go for the cinnamon one). Their muffins were also good but very sweet. For lunch they have wraps and the Greek chicken salad wrap is yummy. I want to go back for tea time which you have to make special reservations before hand to do. My colleague made arrangements to reserve the Tea Room for a work event in the late afternoon. (You know, for tea.) Was visiting Stony Brook and heard this place was a must try. I heard right! Was told there would be a 30 min wait, but was actually seated before then. Our waitress, Ashley, was super friendly and patient with all of our requests. The place is casual, but cute. They have an extensive menu of teas. Thinking that high-tea was by reservation only, (thanks to yelpers) I ordered the pot pie. It took forever and a day to come out because everything is apparently made fresh. It was worth it though because that was the best pot pie I'd ever had. Don't let the size and smushed look of it fool you. I have nothing but positive things to say about his place. I stumbled across it with my bf one day thanks to other great Yelp reviews about it. It is so quaint and cozy inside. It seriously is like I'm going to visit family every time I go there. The owners and staff are that hospitable and genuinely warm and friendly. I'm usually more of a coffee drinker, but this place got me into teas again. I absolutely love their caramel creme brulee and the apricot tea is another favorite. The scones, which always seem to be coming straight out of the oven every time I come in, are soooo delicious! I've also had the shrimp wrap and chicken salad wrap and they are also very scrumptious. You can tell every ingredient is always fresh and they take time and pride in the way the prepare the food. Also the presentation of the food is always very delicate and pretty. I cannot praise the place enough. I went in solo one time (happened to be on Mother's Day) to order a single cup of tea to go, and it was given to me free of charge! Because it was mother's day :) and I received this even after protesting and saying that I wasn't in fact a mother. The owners are always so kind like that.
