Really like the mango habanero sauce and the kebab itself was pretty good. Had it during lilac festival

The hard thing about food like this through a food truck is: either it takes too long because they cook it to order or they cook it ahead of time and it's cold when you get it. Today, my chicken kebab was cold. Though, really, isn't food often cold when you eat when you grill? But it was pretty good, but I could've used a little more seasoning. (I actually think I often like things saltier than other people.) I also really enjoyed the seasoning on the beans and rice and it was probably the best slice of toast I've had in forever. I was really hungry. I would definitely check out more of their options.

Our chicken and beef were on the dry side. The seasoning was good, along with the vegetables. We found it really hard to navigate the little cardboard containers the food was served in.

Fairly decent food truck, helpful folks, decent selection available for differing tastes and palates. I ordered the Jibaro Plate, which sounded interesting. While I was not overly impressed (felt that it was relatively bland outside of the splash of Jibaro sauce), it was definitely an interesting take on a "plate" and was presented well. The avocado was perfect, btw.

I had a chance to try them at Midtown Eats, which was an awesome event downtown featuring local businesses outside of Branca and Tower280. I wanted to try something I haven't had before so Rob's Kabobs was the pick of the day. I recommend sharing with friends because that way you can get more bites of what they offer. We shared the tostones, the beef and cheese empanada, and the lamb meatballs. Everything was really flavorful and the lamb meatballs were the star - tender, packed with flavor and filling! The empanada could have used a bit more meat/cheese to dough ratio, although my fave part is always the crispy fried crust so I didn't mind all that much. I also really liked crisp golden fries. They do kabobs, but also offer a variety of Caribbean flavors in their sides with options like the tostones, pernil (slow roasted pork), and rice and beans. Being a food truck, they have the ability to mix things up and try different options of dishes depending on the environment they're in i.e. food truck festival vs. catering event. I'll be back for more!

The first time I went, I was thoroughly disappointed and because this is a new truck I've been holding off on writing this review until at least giving them another shot. Today, just couple of months after my first visit I was pleased to find that the things I was disappointed in had been improved. For anyone reading this who also tried this truck back when they first opened and were disappointed, I'd urge you to go back just one more time. During my first visit, I was disappointed to find that they did not accept cash. On days when I'm busy with work and need to eat lunch at my desk, I am not trying to run around to find an ATM before heading to get lunch, especially when so places and trucks in the area accept cards. I'm happy to say now, you can pay with a card J. Although I did not have cash during my first visit, my friend was able to spot me so I ordered a chicken kabob which cost $8.00 just for 1 kabob! Fortunately I wasn't terribly hungry because on a normal day, I don't know how this can be considered lunch. The flavor was good, I can't complain about but to have to pay $8.00 for 1 kabob with maybe 4-5 chunks of chicken was in my opinion overpriced. Today however, I was pleased to find that now you can order this same kabob for $8.00 and you also get a side of rice and beans. Now that is a meal! Since my last visit, they've expanded their menu offering a lot of yummy foods like beef and cheese empanadas, arancini, and more. Today I got a side of rice and beans and a beef and cheese empanada. The food is so flavorful and delicious. The rice and beans were on point! There's not many places I like to eat rice and beans from because my sis in law makes them so good but Rob's does a great job. The beef and cheese empanada was delicious too though just slightly overcooked but I won't hold it against them. Overall, my lunch today was $6.00 which is very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food. I can't wait to try some of their other menu items!

I had my first Kabob @ the Rochester Lilac Festival & it was delicious!! I tried the shrimp skewer & it was honestly grilled to perfection with just the right amount of lemon. Definitely have to grab it again if I see the truck out.

Rob's Kabob is one of the newcomers to the Rochester Food Truck scene. I was one of the first clients to try it on their very first day out! Since then they are normally parked on Elm St and S Clinton (Windstream) a number of days during the work week. My first impression was "wow, about time we had a Caribbean truck"...my second thought after ordering was "wow, the prices are steep". My first time ordering I had the Sweet Heat BBQ Chicken kabob which comes with pineapple and peppers. Nowadays it is made with green peppers and onion. The kabobs didn't come with any sides so I upgraded to include rice & beans. $11 dollars after, I was looking forward to my meal. When I got the kabob, I puzzled over if the 5 small pieces of chicken on the kabob, served with garlic bread and a toston (singular of tostones/fried platain), was worth the $8 price tag. On top of the size, the chicken was very dry. Kudos for using chicken breast, but it needed marinating and/or brine. The rice & beans were also very skimpy and was made with black beans instead of the tradition red or pink. Fast forward to nowadays and trying them again a few times, I have to say things did improve but did not get tons better. The kabobs now come with garlic bread AND rice & beans. Not more upgrading business! What you can do is upgrade with a beef & cheese empanada. I've tried the Shrimp kabob and admit that is way yummier than the chicken. The Garlic Lemon Salmon ($10) is the clear winner for me. I asked them if it could be made medium and they did! It was tender and juicy. Their rice & beans are now served with bland yellow rice and pink beans. I believe mine had chunks of chorizo, so beware people with dietary restrictions. Things can only improve from here and I am happy they at least eased back with prices for what you're getting.

Bottle of water steak kabob and shrimp kabob $22. Would be fine if it came with sides. It was inadequate as a meal to say the least.
