I've been following The Saucy Chef on Instagram for a bit. She posts her menu on Instagram and you call your order in. It can take a few tries to get through her phone lines. The Menu is straightforward and no substitutions allowed. Totally understandable as I believe she works solo. However, this limits some of my choices as many of the entrees are carb heavy. The pick-up was a bit confusing as I didn't realize you call and the food is brought to you. No big deal there. It is a small parking area so when you pull in, make sure you reverse in so you can drive out more easily. Portions are generous. We would order again. This is just a take out restaurant so no full service involved! The menu was a lot to choose from but I chose the Mac n cheese and chicken and also chicken jerk pasta. Both were amazing and the pick up was pretty seamless and easy. We traveled in from Syracuse and there was no way of making any substitutes or speaking with anyone or going into the restaurant itself but we picked up our food and returned promptly to eat it at home. This was our first time getting food from The Saucey Chef, which is basically just a door on the side of a building that food comes out of. You call in and then go pick it up. I wasn't really sure how it all worked so I will tell you how it happened for me. I called the phone number when the lines opened (the number, menu, and time are posted on the instagram and FB pages) and placed my order and then paid through Venmo. At 5:30, our designated time, I pulled into a little parking lot outside the door. (It's on the Atlantic side of the building). At this point, I actually called the number again to ask if I needed to let them know I was there. The phone went straight to a message informing people that all the food was sold out... so... call early, y'all. A lady came up to the windo and asked for my name and to see my Venmo confirmation. She told me that it would be a few minutes and kinda made it sound like maybe she was running late. I got really antsy and felt like I was waiting forever... it was like, 10 minutes. I took the food home while being tortured by the smell in the car, which was sooooo good. Unpacked it, took a couple of pictures of it. Ate it. It was AWESOME. Everything is so dang delicious. I ordered for the first time and because I was hungry and my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach I ordered most things that were still available: the Mac n cheese with the chicken on top literally one of the best I've had on a very long time- well seasoned, smooth and cheesy with that cheese pull you gotta love. I had the trap fried rice which was very flavorful and they did not skimp on the shrimps or sausage at all. The jerk chicken pasta was bomb- I could not stop eating it and again topped with a healthy portion of chicken, it was spiced well not too spicy, but very balanced and well seasoned. Then the beef stir fry had obviously fresh and well sourced veggies and big beautiful chunks of beef. I wanted to try more from the menu but things go out of stock fast so you have to order quickly and know what you want. I ordered "small" portions which is a enough to hold me over for 2 or 3 days and because the food is fresh, when reheated it's just as great. The curb side service was great- the server was very friendly. It's also easy, you pull in, park, text your spot number and they come out quickly. Was SOOOO EXCITED to finally have a chance to order from this place! I have read so many good things and the menus make my mouth water! Sadly the food didn't. Got 2 dishes tonight and garlic bread. One a chicken sandwich with french fries. The fires were only half cooked and we had to put them in the air fryer. The sandwich was pretty solid but half cooked fries? The other dish was the Cajun Stoned. It looked AMAZING and it's pretty hefty. The down side was it seemed liked it had been sitting a while. Was definitely not fresh. Like the cheese on top was crusty and not gooey. There was almost no sauce in the pasta either and it was bland. The chicken was also room temp but was tasty. For almost $60 in take out I expect more. I will say we ordered at 7 but first asked if they were still cooking so they had an easy open to say sorry we're done for the night. Also the garlic bread was served in paper bags and they got super soggy from condensation. Sadly this did not live up to the hype but at least we tried it once! read more

I'm mixed on what stars to give and here is why: So we called on Saturday when the lines opened per Instagram but were told the lines don't open for another 1.5 hr, no big deal but confusing. Then we get a text to call in before lines opened so we did, picked our time for 7, everything we wanted was available so it should have been all set. Get there after some confusion locating it and we are told they are subbing the salmon for shrimp, didn't ask if that was okay or if we wanted something else since they over sold the salmon. Mind you, we called before the lines opened so how could our order not be placed based on that reason? I was very upset about this, I hate shrimp so to pay almost $30 for a dish I didn't pick out/pay for/ want was upsetting. Then the wait began, food came out about half an hour late. BUT the 2 salmon dishes had the salmon has ordered and they gave us 2 cookies for free. So the problems were all resolved and they gave us complimentary cookies. The food was delicious, we had the beef and broccoli, spring rolls and 2 salmon fettuccine. I've had $50 salmon that didn't taste as good as this salmon. And the portions, my god you get a hefty serving of fettuccine. You could easily split the fettuccine between 3 people but not the salmon, that was 1 person serving. It was a bummer that there was no vegetarian options except for the spring rolls, our vegetarian eater order 2 sets of them for his dinner and I gave him some of my fettuccine. Honestly if I didn't have to deal with the stress of potentially being stuck with food I didn't want and the wait it would have been 5 stars. The reason we didn't leave was because we had already paid but if the money was not handed over beforehand we would have abandoned ship. But they ended up resolving so I'm giving 4 stars for taste, serving size and conflict resolution. read more

After drooling over Saucey's instagram posts for months, my sister and I decided to try her food. The Saucey Chef drops her menu and phone lines open around noon each day she is open (Wed-Sat/Sun, I can't remember). We called many times in a row and got a busy signal each time (it's POPULAR). After countless attempts, someone finally answered. We placed our order, set a pickup time, and paid via Venmo. We picked up our order from the kitchen at our determined time. It was definitely a process, but it is WORTH IT. All of the food was so hot, fresh, and flavorful. You can tell that each dish is made with an incredible amount of love and care. My sister, husband, and I could not stop raving about it! The meats were cooked to perfection and the mac and cheese was one of the BEST I've ever had. Saucey chef has been captivating everyone with her drool-worthy insta posts, so it seemed like a fitting choice for my last night in Rochester. With the daily menu release and limited capacity, you definitely need to plan ahead and be ready to call as soon as it goes live. My family and I shared the garlic noodles & steak, hibachi papi, jerk chicken pasta, and loaded birria fries. Added rainbow chippers for dessert, too! Where do I even begin? Servings were HUGE and everything was loaded with generous amount of sauce, spices, protein, and add ins. Far from boring and great for sharing and sampling, which is my favorite! I personally loved the fries the most - the fries themselves were well-seasoned which is often overlooked, then add the birria meet, queso, and sauces... wow. But really everything was above average; the jerk chicken pasta had a nice thick cream sauce and subtle spice, hibachi rice was on point with the yum yum sauce, and shrimp (which was in multiple dishes) was cooked perfectly. The cookies fell a tiny bit flat for me (literally) because they were SO thin yet gooey style so you couldn't even pick them up, but they tasted good. The ordering process was a bit hectic, as was the pick-up due to limited parking and orders being slightly behind schedule. The entrance to pick up food is absolutely filthy,looking inside, the floors ,doors, and walls were also filthy. WIth all the concern about Covid,food safety and sanitation, I decided this wasn't the place for me to eat from. If they cannot keep the floors and entrance clean I wonder what the inner kitchen is lacking. I saw one review that said the food wasn't refrigerated properly I don't know personally, but it's not worth getting sick over, it's a No Go from a sanitation standpoint!. Absolute 5 stars for the food - gotten it a few times and the quality is A+ and the portions are extremely generous. Can be a little pricey for some dishes but I've paid just as much, if not more, for far less quality. Knock it down a star because picking up can be a little chaotic. Each time I've gotten it and showed up at my pickup time I haven't gotten my order until 15-20 minutes or so after. Not a huge deal as the food was plenty fresh and hot, just something to be mindful of. Honestly if you just plan on showing up twenty minutes after you're supposed to that's probably perfect. Also quite easy to miss the location - it's behind/attached to Sticky Soul BBQ on Atlantic and parking is very limited by the store. All in all, absolutely give it a try. We were hung up on, talked to condescendingly, and all around treated very poorly. We were told to park in the gas station and then the middle of the road on Atlantic with intense traffic to receive our already paid for food. If I had had my kids with me I would've immediately left due to the rude behavior and unsafe pickup line. If I were to order food from Saucey Chef again I would hope I did not have to interact with this hostess. Again, great food but unfortunately was dampened by the hostess/food runner.
