Yum! I saw a TikTok review of this restaurant so I had to try it for myself. The Peruvian chicken is delicious and very moist. The French fries too were delicious and ample. Mac and cheese rounded out the sides and I would order it again. We also ordered the fried chicken sandwich that needed not sauce or condiments. I stopped by Just Chik'n for lunch and was impressed by the value. For about $20, I got a half chicken, two sides, and a small cookie. I arrived hungry and excited to try the food, especially after hearing good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to my expectations. The black beans tasted like they came straight from a can and had virtually no flavor. The chicken was tender enough, but the only flavor I could taste was salt. In fact, it was so salty that I found myself reaching for the green sauce with almost every bite just to make it enjoyable. Without the sauces, I don't think I would have finished the meal. Be prepared to drink plenty of water afterward. On the positive side, the customer service was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The prices are definitely reasonable, and you get a good amount of food for your money. Overall, it's an affordable lunch option with great service and a clean environment, but the food itself could use more seasoning and flavor beyond salt. What a crap show this place is. Drove from Syracuse to try this place and ended up just leaving. Hygiene is really questionable I sat and watched one of the employees eating with gloved hands in the food prep area. Then the food came and the rice looked like it was smashed and half starch water. I expected this to just be another (highly recommended) chicken sandwich place, and boy was I wrong. As soon as I saw the Peru wall art and the large section of the menu devoted to Peruvian cuisine, I got about 20x more excited. Peruvian chicken is always some high quality, juicy, flavorful chicken, and this place was no exception. I'm so glad that Rochester has a great Peruvian chicken place. The inside wasn't busy (we were the only ones there on a Thursday night), and I suspect most people order takeout. However the environment was pleasant and brightly lit. Service was great. Flavor is the reason to come to Just Chik'n. The rice and beans alone were super flavorful and the chicken didn't disappoint. The Aji Verde sauce is spicy, smooth and vibrant. I also thought the value factor was pretty good here. 1 full size bowl, 1 mini bowl and 2 drinks was under 32 dollars. The menu has just a few different combinations of the same few ingredients. I was disappointed when I walked in. Not so much a restaurant, but a stark take out food establishment. I was even more disappointed when I saw the menu. Only a few items seem Peruvian, the rest looked like any American Chicken fast food place. I ordered the Machu Bowl- Shredded Chicken, Chaufa Rice, Salsa Criolla, Turtle Beans. The Chicken was very well seasoned, but too little. I think they deboned a drumstick and that is the portion. The Chaufa Rice (indescribable with a handful of dried Turtle Beans on top) fills the container, and the Salsa good all of a spoon. On my drive back to Buffalo, was hungry after just running the Rochester American Heart 5k Run/Walk.. it was later when I had stopped in around 830ish this past Thursday... and know I need something to eat... so of course went on YELP for recommendations. I must admit the reason for the 4 star rating, it was a little hard to find and in an odd plaza , even with using my GPS. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and bright, which is something you don't generally see for a fast food place. Until this past week, I never realized that Peruvian chicken existed. My selection was the chick'n nuggets entrée, which were made fresh, and came with your choice of dipping sauce. I was hungry after an appointment and decided to try Just Chic'n for the very first time (hard to believe with all the hype). It was late lunchtime so I just ordered their deluxe sandwich which means that lettuce and tomato is added. I also asked for some verde sauce on the side and I'm glad I did as without the sandwich was tasty, but dry. The result was a nice sandwich, cooked to order, but a bit higher priced than other premium chicken sandwiches. I'd like to return and try their Peruvian chicken which could add another star to their review. Nothing wrong with their sandwich, but just average. The place itself was sparse and I assume that although it has a few tables, they are seldom occupied. I guess that most of their business is take-out or delivery. I really like the Amarillo, it had a garlic flavor, and the Verde is more of a chimichurri kind of flavor. The Alfajores cookies are so good! I've been here a couple times and enjoyed the food a lot. Love the different chicken options. All of the sides and sauces I've tried so far (especially the rice and yucca fries) are great! I would've given 5 stars however I did have some issues with ordering last time. Tried calling twice with no answer so I put my order in online. It didn't get accepted for 20 minutes and then when I arrived the order had not been completed so I pretty much waited an hour for 8 chicken nuggets and a side of rice so that was kinda disappointing. There were like 7 people waiting + me. Maybe next time if I order I would try at a less busy time? Or if I can get through on the phone try to get a better idea of how long food would take. Not really sure how to approach next time but if you do get food here, it is good, you just might have to wait for an undetermined amount of time. read more

As the name suggests, there's not a lot of options here. There are chicken tenders that come in regular and spicy and a Peruvian rotisserie chicken (a half or a whole). We only tried the fried options today. We could tell the difference between the regular and spicy chicken, However, the spicy wasn't hot, it just had more spices. The chicken tenders were kind of small but tasty. The service was great. Everything was clean, and hand sanitizer was available. Masks are required, of course. I chose the Chautauqua rice and French fries, along with an Inka cola. The chaufa was good, but wished it was plain garlic rice (my opinion). The fries were very good, a close second to McD's surprisingly. The cookie (Alfajore) was the perfect ending. They also provided a spicy green sauce which my husband loves. I am not into spicy so he was happy to have more. I couldn't finish my plate and my husband couldn't either! So this was a lot of food. The price might seem a lot, but then you're getting a lot too. Trust me as it's rare my hubby doesn't finish.Overall, a 5! I am sure we would stop by the next time we're in the area. Overall, I thought the chicken was well-made and wasn't too dry like a lot of the rotisserie chickens that you usually buy. The 1/4 chicken was super soft and juicy, just falling off the bone. The outer spice was savory with a gentle kick. You know, I am really committed to supporting small business. I owned a small business and I also worked in the restaurant industry (cooking and baking). And, I know that I have very high standards when it comes to food. Maybe I expect more out of a restaurant and its food than the average customer because I am fortunate enough to be able to cook almost anything myself and when I purchase food, I sort of expect it to be as good or better than what I can make at home. So, if your restaurant is named "Just Chik'n" and that's what you specialize in, I expect it to be some amazingly different and delicious chicken that is worth a special trip. And, I feel that, unfortunately, Just Chik'n fell very short of my expectations. I was fortunate enough to take part in a Yelp Elite event, where this business gifted Yelp Elite reviewers with a free sampling of their food. I chose the 1/4 chicken, yucca fries and aji amarillo sauce. In order to help support the business, I also ordered a chicken sandwich. The 1/4 chicken was tiny (although I didn't expect anything big) and very over-cooked. It was dark meat, which is normally juicier than white meat, but still, it was dry. But, it really didn't taste like much. The yucca fries were okay, but basically flavorless starch. That's not their fault, that's just how yucca is. The aji amarillo sauce was tasty, although it basically tasted like a garlic aioli. I thought there would be some spiciness to it or a little more of the aji flavor. Considering the fact that the chicken really didn't taste like much, you might be better off buying a whole roasted chicken from Wegmans for $6 instead of their half chicken for $6.29 The chicken sandwich was very disappointing. It was a small piece of fried chicken on a bun that wasn't that fresh, with two pickle slices. I don't know if you can tell how small that chicken is from my photo, but it was basically the size of my palm. It was a little on the dry side and didn't really have much flavor at all. I'd certainly rather support a small business than a chain, but I have to say that you can get a much larger chicken sandwich (with a little more flavor), for the same price or less, any day of the week at Popeye's, KFC or BK or Wendy's. Again, looking at some of the positive reviews for Just Chik'n, maybe my standards for dining out are just different than others. My family and I were looking for a restaurant that had some kind of family meal because we didn't want to get the old standard- a sheet pizza. The chicken had a very flavorful seasoning and it was very juicy and delicious. You get to choose 3-XL sides so we chose salad, fries, and rice. For some reason, we were charged $3 for rice when it said it was included. The portions of the sides were ample and all very good. The rice I especially enjoyed. Think fried rice but not greasy. The fries were delish. The salad was field greens with cucumbers, tomatoes, and vinaigrette. There was not enough rotisserie chicken for 5 people so be aware if there are more than 3 people. To be on the safe side we ordered nuggets and spicy nuggets ($6) and this made our dinner definitely filling for everyone. This meal comes with some very yummy sandwich cookies.
