The only thing is that - if you're a walker - can we stay in a single file so people can pass through? There were places where it was easy to pass and not have to say excuse me, then there were the trail parts where walkers were blocking people. AND there should be a wave for runners, joggers, woggers (walk/jog) and walkers. There were people who were just walkers, which is fine. :) Just be courteous of those behind ya that want to jog :)

What a fun way to gather a group of friends and RUN for 3.1 miles!! The Firefly Run is truly unique…read morein the sense that it's occurs at night, there's fun & motivating electronic music playing all night, and runners are dressed like fireflies! No really....there are runners that are dressed in wings, glow-in-the-dark necklaces, bracelets, wigs, neon this and neon that. It's a party run!!! Hosted at the Home Depot Center in the city of Carson, for my first 5K, this was very exciting! The entire event was extremely organized. From the parking attendants, to finding your name, filling out waivers, getting your bib number, free t-shirt, and all other materials that you may have bought. There were plenty of visible volunteers that were more than eager to help you out in case you were blinded by all the neon lights and giant LED screen....Anyways....Pre-Registration occurred online but if you wanted to register that night, there was an area designated for that. The course starts in the parking lot and guides you all around the Home Depot Center. The highlight of it all was being able to run through the stadium where the LA Galaxy play. The light shines down on the field and kind of created this magical ambience. Many runners stopped to take Instagram selfies. After all the runners cross the finish line, the fun doesn't stop there. There's a costume contest that's actually pretty cool because you get to see all the creative and kooky things that people come up with. Prize was a Go Pro!!! What am I going to dress up as next Firefly Run?????? The ONLY thing that sucked was the food vendors ripping you off after the run. TEN DOLLARS for 3 tacos and a soda??? TEN DOLLARS for a small tray of carne asada fries??? I'd rather load up on 10 bananas that they pass out for free after you cross the finish line!!! Other than that, I had the most fun running with my Team Scrambled Legs. I got the best of everything...a good run, good music, good company. A great way to spend a Friday night. When's the next 5K? Sign me up!!!!

It's a 5k walk/run on the beach (as in on the sand with the ocean next to you) with 11 obstacle in…read morethe courses. Most of the inflatable obstacles are several stories high. Obstacles include the "inflatable mattress" with holes, swinging giant balls, pit with loose 5+ feet balls, a bunch of obstacles where you climb up one side and slide down the other, an 'over, under, over' obstacle, etc. You run from the start point, to the pier, and then U turn and run back. You are released (to run, jog, dance, walk, etc.) in waves. I think it was half hour increments based on the wave you signed up for. They offered cups of water at a couple points in the 5k. At the end, they gave you a finisher's T-shirt, medal, bottled water and a banana. Pros: - LOTS of fun - Not scary even for someone deathly afraid of heights (good for the whole family) - Finisher's medal - Friends and family can take pictures of you throughout the entire course. Nothing is closed off. Cons: - Had to pay full price for parking - They advertise that there'd be a photographer there taking pictures, but they only captured people from the first wave. - Can't wear shoes on *some* of the obstacles, but on the website they gave the impression that you can wear them, so a lot of people kept having to take off their shoes and put them back on or just carried them. (I left mine in the car because I saw the hassle the people before me went through.)

I have no idea how or why anyone would give this run a low star rating? It's a run that takes place…read moreoutside and in the elements... they can't control nature but yet some people on here have to complain about the time of year and the weather. From reading the comments if they have it earlier, it'll be too hot-if they have it later in the year it'll be too cold. I've run this three times now and each time has been great. The volunteers, the police, event staff, vendors, etc. have been nothing but incredible. This year I think they sold out and it looks like 2025 is sold out already too. If it was bad, I don't think they'd sell out like that. Either way, I can't wait to get back out there October of 2025. Thank you LB Marathon for having a great and organized event. No wonder you've been doing this 40 years strong now.

SLIPPERY WHEN WET!!…read more BACKGROUND: The Abalone Cove Ecological Reserve features two beaches (Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove), tide pools, beautiful bluff-top viewing areas, and dramatic crisscrossing trails. The 64-acre Reserve contains a State Ecological Preserve with important natural marine resources and the bottom of the Portuguese Bend landslide area. Two promontories, Portuguese and Inspiration points, frame Sacred Cove with its sea caves, black sand, and rare plants. ESSENTIALS: At least 2 liters of water (depends on distance and temp) Know your limits Comfy hiking shoes with good lugs Layered Clothing High protein food/snacks Electrolytes Camera Hat (optional) Sunscreen Trek poles (optional) ROUTE: I have visited Smugglers Cove, aka Sea Caves several times over the years, always at low tide and have chosen different routes. There's a nice five mile path that goes from the Forrestal Nature Preserve and involves both dirty dusty trails and street walking. Or if you're not into longish distances, limited complimentary parking is available above and next to the caves. The trail to the caves is a dirt and relatively steep trek so good lug sole shoes are a must, just as the rocks are slippery and are best walking on with a good pair of shoes. Therefore, if you want to avoid unexpectedly sitting on a rock, leave your vans and chucks at home. The tide pools are amazing, filled with sea urchins, starfish, and small fishes. The colors of these magnificent creatures are breathtaking and the waves crashing on the plates and through the caves is amazing. If you're lucky, there will be some seals hanging out on the buoy near the tide pools. If you stick around long enough, the sunset is spectacular. The most important thing to remember is to check the times of low-tide, otherwise you will not be able to enjoy the tide pools. At high-tide, the water level rises the waves crash over the tide pools, making it impossible to make a safe venture. And be careful, the rocks are slippery when wet. DISCLAIMER: Hiking is not something that can be taken lightly. It can be life-threatening as you see and hear on the news, people die or get lost all time. Please, if you are going to hike, never go alone and prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Remember when going for a hike, no matter how short you think it may be, always be prepared. Carry at least two liters of water for every five miles (more if the weather is warm), protein bar, nuts, and electrolytes. Wear sturdy lug sole shoes and protective clothing. Some areas the weather can change quicker than a fireman can put on his gear. It is also very important, always always always let a family member or friend know where you are going and when you expect to be back. Lastly, have fun when you hike it up.

It's not hard, it's just that the trail consists of using multiple trials and if you've never been or know what to look for, it's a little hard to figure out. I always park around 32201 Forrestal Drive Rancho Palos Verdes, CA for free next to the soccer field (as I have always been instructed to do through Meetups and haven't gotten in trouble yet, so look for signs and changes). The hike itself is unique and has cliffs, tidal pools, and of course the sea caves at the end. The rocks are amazing n color. It looks like you're standing on a giant colorful turtle. About a 5-6 mile hike. Sort of hilly but not too much I thought. For me, it's light to moderate depending on level. Highly recommend!

BRAVO, KNOTT'S!!! We had a BLAST!!! My family agreed that this event was even better than the Taste…read moreof Knott's (we did have a great time at that event though!). There were tons of Halloween decorations all over which definitely put us in a festive mood. Camp Snoopy was open to guests because the area was transformed to a Trick or Treat Trail. The trail was included with the purchase of a Junior Tasting Card. For the older guests, bags are available to purchase which allows you to collect candy along the trail with your little ones. The bags are party favor size, but at each station we got three pieces of candy such as Hershey's bars, Kit Kats, Junior Mints, Twizzlers in different colors and flavors, large Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids, Jolly Rancher lollipops and Hershey's Cookies and Cream bars. Our bags were more than half way filled. Guests can also walk through the trail without purchasing a treat bag and just enjoy the decorations. The entrance to Camp Snoopy is through Fiesta Village. A lot of the food and drink items were fall themed, which meant a lot of pumpkin things. We had a couple of MAD Shirley Temples, Graveyard Funnel Cake, Caramel Apple Cheesecake Trifle, Corn on the Cob, Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese, Sausage and Chicken Jambalaya, Boysenberry Beer, Boysenberry Smoothie, Pumpkin Spice Churro Sticks, Orange Creamsicle ICEE Float, Creepy Cheeseburger Slider with French Fries and Cookies and Scream Whoopie Pie. We did notice it got more crowded towards the evening and there definitely were more guests at this event than at the Taste of Knott's. Thank you for allowing families like mine to visit your theme park even without the rides being open. It was so nice just to be able to walk around and enjoy the sights!

Covid-19 review!…read more Since all my fave Halloween events are closed this year, my fiancé and I loved Knott's Taste of Fall-O-Ween to get at least SOME type of Halloween activity in! The park is fully decorated for Halloween, but unfortunately there are no rides open and no scare actors like Knott's Scary Farm. There are a few costumed cast members interacting from a distance! Parking is FREE! Tickets are date specific and currently sold out. Each attendee is scanned with a body temperature scanner prior to entering. Face coverings and social distancing is enforced. I did notice a staff member ask someone to cover their face in the park while this person was walking around. Staff members did a great job at wiping tables and surfaces. You receive a tasting card which contains your barcode to scan for 5 tastings! I thought it was pretty easy to navigate around the park and find the food stations. There are maps for assistance as well. I looked up Yelp photos and Youtube videos of the foods so I already knew what I wanted. There are a few food items that are available at more than one food station. My initial thought was that 5 tastings for each of us would leave us still hungry but BOY, WAS I WRONG! We shared our first 3 tastings (so 6 in total because we each ordered 3 different things) and we were STUFFED! The servings are fair in size! If you run out of tasting scans, you can buy items for $7. My favorites were the pastrami tater tots and open face reuben sandwich! The tater tots were so flavorful and I thought the portion was huge. You can get BOTH at "Sutter's Grill" (Letter E) in Ghost Town. Ghost Town is located to the left when you enter the park. The "Graveyard Funnel Cake" has chocolate and vanilla funnel cake, but the chocolate funnel cake portion was HARD! While I was ordering, another customer returned hers saying the whole thing was too hard to eat. We just ate around the hard chocolate funnel cake and enjoyed it! We walked through the Camp Snoopy trick-or-treating trail which was cute! Lots of photo-ops inside. The headless horseman on a real horse, actors in scarecrow costumes and snoopy were there at a distance. I noticed some recycled sets/props from Knott's Scary Farm, but nothing scary popping out so it remains kid friendly. I would definitely do this again next year!

What started as a hobby to get out of the house turned into a passion of mine. When I started out at Ocean View Riding School I had never really been around horses. You don't realize how big they are until you are standing right next to one! Through my classes and awesome instructors I have learned many things. Not only do you get to learn how to ride horses (I ride Baby), but you also learn how to take care them. You will learn about how to saddle a horse as well as after care once you are done with your riding lesson. One of my favorite parts is being able to brush my horse down, it is very relaxing as well as satisfying! Overall, there are so many reasons why I love Ocean View Riding School. Here are a few things that come mind. 1. The horses 2. The instructors 3. The facilities 4. The classes/ summer camps 5. Did I mention the horses?! I recommend this riding school for all ages from little kids up to old adults like me!
