We had the best time with our team of 13. We all work for a hotel in the sales and catering department and the Culver City ropes course allowed all of us to get grounded and connect tower each other. It was an emotional experience for some and everyone took something away at the end of the day. I have no doubt we are stronger as one team at the end of this. The instructors were amazing, very helpful and kind and patient with the group. They brought up a lot of themes to talk about and how it relates to our work environment and what we can change. My non-profit team of 14 did 1/2 day of teambuilding and ropes course activities with Fulcrum at Temescal Canyon. Our primary goal was relationship building and this experience delivered on that front. Nikki and Steve made us laugh, inspired confidence in the safety of the course, and helped us to face our fears. Steve did some fun teambuilding activities with us on the ground that made us think about our differing work styles, tendencies, preferences and ways of relating to one another. I even learned some new things about teammates that I've known for years. When we moved on to the ropes course, Nikki made it very clear that it was "challenge by choice," but also encouraged us to wait until the point where we thought we were too afraid to go any further and then push JUST past it. The nice thing about that messaging is that it acknowledges that point may be different for everyone and that's OK. I was proud of everyone on my team for taking on the challenges. I thought for sure there would be people who wouldn't climb up at all, but every single person went up and the vast majority completed both the leap of faith and the high wire vine crossing. I attribute that to everyone feeling safe and supported by both the Fulcrum staff and their teammates. Don't get me wrong, people were still scared (side note: it was hilarious to hear folks that never swear at work letting it all out while standing on a cable or a platform), but it was the kind of fear where your rational mind knows that nothing bad is going to happen. Half the fun of it (or maybe more!) was in cheering on others. Every one of us felt lucky to be in a position to both give and receive support. It was our first time getting the whole team together in person since 2019 due to the the pandemic and a couple of us who were onboarded in the last couple of years had never met our teammates in person. Did not enjoy the experience. Bossy pushy staff. Heavy toxic positivity vibes. Staff strongly implies that you are "less than" or "not brave" or "open" when I didn't want to do certain tasks. Really awkward and unprofessional team leader kept pushing the issue even after I said stop. People have reasons for choices and those were NOT respected by the staff. read more

If I could describe my time with this group with a couple words, it would be 'face your fears'. I literally had to retrain my mind to not get in the way of completing these challenges. I was nervous when I saw the high ropes obstacle course, but I said to myself, "I got this" knowing I have a fear of heights. I even helped cheer others on in confidence knowing they could do it! But the minute it was my turn... Let. Me. Tell. You. This challenge had me praying to God SO HARD! Lol! I started climbing the wooden post and I felt fine, but the minute I reached the very top, I hugged that wooden pole so tight, you'd think we were lovers. I was NOT letting go. I even think I peed a little when I saw how high I was off the ground. I couldn't stop thinking about how I had to do TWO more courses after this. I knew I was safe and that I was strapped in so that if I fell, I'd be ok, but that was the last thing on my mind. I completed two of the three courses and the last one I cried like a newborn baby. Lol! You really find out how strong mentally you are. If you don't have a fear of heights and trust everyone easily, this will be a piece of cake for you. But for the rest of us,... this will definitely push you beyond your comfort zone and force you to trust your group and the instructors, whom you just met, as well as yourself. It really helped build stronger bonds with our group and these are memories we'll have forever. This was definitely a fun learning experience for everyone in our group. The instructors were very professional and personable. I highly recommend trying them out if you're looking for a little adventure. read more

I participated in the ropes course atop a cliff in Malibu for an internship. The staff here is amazingly supportive and welcoming, allowing for an experience of a lifetime! You are challenged physically, mentally, and emotionally. You'll learn to let go and just trust the ropes (they are VERY secure), trust in others, and most importantly trust in yourself. We did half a day of team building and goal setting activities that really make you work together and trust in each other. The last half the day is spent up on the ropes course then lunch is served. I am so glad our company came here for our team building event. We were all challenged and pushed to experience some terrifying things together. I didn't think I could get through all 3 obstacle courses but with the help and encouragement of my team, we scaled up a huge wall, jumped off a even higher platform and I did a solo event. This was so much fun! It was definitely a work-out for the arms! My arms were all noodley afterward. It's not just for team-building - my boyfriend and I went just the two of us. Here's a summary of what we did. (You're harnessed in all the time so there's never a risk of falling to the ground.) -- There's a pillar you climb and then stand on a narrow beam at the top of it, then jump off and try to grab a ring. They stop your rope immediately so you don't *fall* - they lower you down slowly. This was scary because the pillar wobbles... a lot... while you're standing on it. :P This one might be hard for people scared of heights, but if you're trying to conquer that fear, then this is a good one for that. -- There's a rope between two pillars that you walk across (like a tightrope), using vertical hanging ropes to hold onto. This was challenging because the ropes are very far apart. You have to just trust that you'll be able to lean out and catch it! This is the one that gave my arms the work out, because you're never *steady*, you're always wobbling this way and that even as you hold the ropes. That made it fun! -- There was a straight wooden beam that you walk across without anything to hold onto. That was pretty easy, but the fun challenge was when they had my boyfriend and I walk from opposite ends toward the middle, then try to pass each other without falling off. And we did it! -- Lastly, there's a vertical rock climbing wall. Two people at a time could race each other to the top. Other notes: Bring sunblock! It's all open air except when you're not on a course, in which case they have little tents over some chairs. It was very hot when we went. So bring water too! read more

Fulcrum led us in a day of team building discussions/games/activities/challenges for our corporate offsite, and we had the most wonderful experience. We talked about so many different topics that related to both our professional work/goals, as well as personal. Everyone challenged themselves to step out of their comfort zone which resulted in extremely productive and impactful day. Our guides Leo and Todd were so insightful and fun to be around, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. I should also mention that we did the Temescal Canyon location, which was beautiful, and so wonderful to be immersed in nature and out of the city. Bought it as a livingnsocial deal for Hubby's birthday. I like to first start off by saying I'm terrified of height. The thought of going anywhere high without much support made me hyperventilate and go into a mild panic attack- and this is only buying the deal. Our deal consists of 4 different activities: wall climb, rope and beam walk, and finally leap of faith where you climb up a very tall pole and jump off a teensy little plank they attached to the pole. With that said, I went into full panic attack mode on our first activity: wall climb. Now this is where Fulcrum Adventures is getting their stars. The staffs are uber supportive. During my panic attack, the staff never stop encouraging me and helping me along. I can feel the instructor give me a extra lift when I couldn't reach the next rock etc. it was just such a fun and warm environment that a scardy cat like me actually finish all four activities without too much of a scene. It's a great place to take your significant other, friend, or business partner for bonding exercise. You definitely develops a trust in each other after all the activities while feeling a great sense of achievement at the end of the day. read more

One of the best days of my life was spent here at Fulcrum and their incredible staff! I attended with my team of 30 individuals from my Mastery In Transformation Training and we all went through some profound physical and emotional breakthroughs that I know has helped changed all of our lives. Everyone at Fulcrum made us feel safe and helped facilitate our own empowerment to accomplish anything in this course but helped us apply it to our general thinking towards life itself! My husband purchased this ropes course activity for us without talking to me about it first. Despite being a total adrenaline junkie who has probably done just about everything out there from skydiving to canyoneering and scuba diving, I've never really been a fan of ropes courses. Needless to say, I wasn't overly excited about my husband's purchase when he told me about it. That being said, we scheduled a time for last weekend. We ended up having a GREAT time! The staff is all friendly and knowledgeable in their roles. They are very encouraging and want you to succeed in every activity. They explained each activity in detail prior to anyone trying it out, and they also explained how you would be kept safe and secure in each activity. There was never a time during the 4 hours we were there that I didn't feel completely safe. Water and granola bar types of snacks were provided on the day we were there, but it never hurts to bring extra water along. It was very warm when we were there, so make sure you stay hydrated. Also, if you plan on staying for more than a couple of hours, make sure you bring extra snacks, like fruit and crackers. Bring plenty of sunblock as well. While they do provide pop ups for shade, and there are some trees for shade, some of the activities will have you in the sun depending on the time of day. We were there in the middle of summer, so it was probably a bit warmer than what it would be if you were to go in the fall, winter, or spring. Definitely give them a try if you want to challenge yourself mentally as well as physically. I would say all of the activities were 90% mental and 10% physical. You don't have to be a super star athlete to successfully complete the ropes course activities. This was a fantastic experience! read more

I had my experience with Fulcrum at Campowerment, a Grown-Up Camp for Women (also awesome!). Fulcrum ran the ropes course and everyone we met was AMAZING! Zen and Connie (our coaches for the Leap of Faith) were kind, encouraging and empowering. Even though you know in your head that you are safe, it is still scary as hell when you are at the top of a 40 foot pole and contemplating how you are going to stand all the way up on the top. You learn to trust your team mates but even more importantly, you learn to trust yourself. It's a profound experience and one I highly recommend. I also did the zipline. Now, I have ziplined before in Costa Rica and Mexico. I love to zipline. That said, the climb to the zipline platform is higher than the Leap of Faith and you have to figure out how you are going to hoist yourself up on the platform. Not easy. And if you are heavy, it is REALLY not easy! I have to thank the Fulcrum guys again for their support and encouragement - Phil (thanks for the hug!), Alex (thanks for the support on the way up!), Chris (thanks for helping me down at the end!). You are all terrific. Finally, a shout out to Jacob who helped our friend Anisa overcome her fear even before she attempted the zipline climb. He hooked her up and had her climb up the ladder to the pole and then gently lowered her to the ground so she knew she was safe. A shift must have taken place because she was the next one up the zipline pole. So proud of you Anisa! I can't say enough good things about the Fulcrum team. We saw a lot of breakthroughs that day and I credit them with helping us all confront our fears and learn to trust ourselves. Thank you! read more

This is my first time reviewing anything on Yelp, but I had to for these guys. Couldn't ask for a better experience. The instructors push you out of your comfort zone, but it is all worth it. The feeling of accomplishment I had at the end of the day is incredible. I highly recommend these guys for team building. Snacks, water, and sunblock were all provided. I had one of the most broadening experiences at Fulcrum! Three of our management classes mixed together for an afternoon filled with teamwork, communication and motivation. I was on a high for days afterward cause it was that awesome. We got there early in the morning and divided into three big groups. There are a series of team exercises we did on the field, like talking about what matters to us in the world we live in and more physical stuff where we had no choice but to trust the people supporting us, both physically and emotionally. We're then led to the main obstacles (high ropes course) of the day, obstacles that will change the way you think of yourself and the people around you. It was so fantastic! Our group's first obstacle that morning was a daunting cylindrical wooden beam that was elevated 30+ feet in the air, supported by two perpendicular poles. You and your partner climb up each pole until you reach the log. To make matters worse, it was a round log and not a square one. I could feel my heart sinking into my stomach when I volunteered to go first! When my partner and I reached the top, we looked at each other, all color drained from our already pale faces. I looked down and saw our team holding the ropes to both of our harnesses and were there to keep us flying if we fell off. The objective was to walk to the center of the log and then switch places. As they shouted the directions at us, I was thinking there is no way in seven hells that's possible! My hand was gripping the metal rail so hard that I could feel my blood draining. It took me forever to let go of the support and move toward the center. My team was shouting encouragements from below and my partner stretched her hand out to me. At one point I looked ahead and saw all of LA beyond and temporarily lost my fear. But then I took a deep breath and felt my nerves tingling, the fear creeping into every fiber of my being, my legs turning to jelly. It was windy and I had nothing surrounding me but morning air and a round log beneath my feet. After warring thoughts in my head about overcoming my unfounded fears, we somehow made it to the center and we drew each other close and talked each other through how we were going to switch places on that single log. Before I knew it, I was on the other side and as soon as our team shouted cheers from below, we jumped off and I felt like I was flying for a millisecond. It was so liberating! The second obstacle was even worse than the first but I could've sworn that I had less anxiety ascending that one than I did the log. The objective is for you to climb a 30 foot pole and stand on a tiny 12-inch (guesstimating) plank. That little wooden plank is loose so the more you shake, the more the plank will shake beneath you. There is absolutely nothing surrounding you but air. Your objective is to stand on top of that shaky plank and jump off and catch the ring a few feet overhead. Unbelievable! I was on my knees gripping that plank so hard for I don't even know how long. I missed the ring but getting on my feet was a feat in and of itself. Absolutely horrifying and exhilarating! It was such a fulfilling experience! Nothing beats the high of diving into things you thought were impossible. It comes down to our perception of fear and what that means to us. Really great stuff. If you haven't tried this, I highly recommend! It would be ideal for just about anyone - family, friends, coworkers, teammates, etc. The Fulcrum guys are friendly, encouraging and supportive. You'll come out with a new take on the world around you! read more

Horrible experience, I was injured. I fell off one of the courses and instead being secured by the harness I hit the a wooden pole TWICE. I call that medicore service and incompetent workers. Wow. I mean - just...wow. Our organization, EduCare Foundation, has partnered with Fulcrum for several years. They provide our participants with such an experience of expanding out of their comfort zones, facing their fears, and near literally- moving mountains. Their staff is full of love, care and experience, and integrate VERY well with ours. Even when I've gotten on high with Fulcrum (on the balance beam), I must say...they took very good care of me, and helped me expand out of even my own comfort zone. This was a great adventure! Did the 3 hours adventure course in Culver City. Was exciting, challenging, and pushed me & my friend. While you are strapped in and safe, you will confront heights, balance, trust, teamwork and belief in yourself. It's half physical and half psychological. At the end of the day, felt both exhilarated and accomplished. You'll learn a lot about yourself. The staff were friendly, encouraging, and competent. Went with a small group and had a blast. We participated in the 9am-12pm ropes course. A few of us are allergic to heights - this is a great way to confront your fear(s) in a controlled environment. The staff did a great job accommodating everyone from children to seniors. If you're hesitant on attending because it looks challenging then you need this activity the most. Bring a camera, a positive attitude and you'll have a great experience. Helpful hints for Culver City Location: When you get to Culver City Park, follow up a short hill and turn left into the first parking lot (and park). If there isn't anyone there, walk up the hill (from the lot) and you'll find the staff/activities. They provide water and granola bars; however, we found it helpful to bring additional water, snacks and sunblock. They have a clean portable restroom - but take care of any major issues before arriving. read more

It's like doing an obstacle course 30 feet in the air! At the Culver City location, there were five set-ups, including a 50-foot rock climbing wall, a high cylindrical beam that you have to walk across (and get past your partner going the opposite direction), and a platform that you have to climb up to and jump off to catch a ring suspended in the air. All the stations are terrifying, but none are actually dangerous. When you get up in the air, your brain wants to say, "I don't need to do this--maybe I'll just go home instead." But you are harnessed in so you're always completely safe even if you fall. The views are spectacular at the top, and the adrenaline rush is intoxicating. It's an absolute blast, and not just for adults--there was a 7 year-old girl who did it with our group! read more

I took my film crew out for a team building exercise and I'm throughly impressed. The idea of tribalism and group mentality is what many crews strive for but ends up getting lost during the process. We learned as a team what each of our individual goals are for the project, after cutting through to the heart of what each of us really wanted, and as a result have the tools to not only support each other to obtain those goals but to trust that each of us support the common mission; the story.
