Another wonderful meal at Rocco's Pizza and pasta. Chef owner Hector is fantastic in the kitchen. Hubby ordered the rigatoni Fiorentina and I had a special with shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, and asparagus. Both were beautifully prepared and very tasty. Hubby started with the pasta fagioli and I had the stracciatella soup. Both were served piping hot. it's always wonderful to see Jessica and catch up with her. If I could give zero stars, I would. This pizzeria took advantage of my coworker, who has special needs. Instead of treating him with kindness and fairness like any other customer, they didn't take any consideration of him and made him feel uncomfortable. It is absolutely unacceptable to take advantage of someone who trusted you to treat them honestly. Good food can never excuse unethical behavior. Businesses should have integrity and compassion, not prey on vulnerable people. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I will be sharing this experience with others so they can avoid being treated this way. read more

When I was a little girl my Nana would make the world's greatest meatballs. Beautiful, meaty, delectable, meatballs. Rocco, well Mr. Rocco has me by the tongue. My Nana would love, I said love these meatballs! So so yummy! Rocco's is a pizza joint, it's not fancy, but it's great NY Italian fare. The dining room is average take-out pizza, but the service, the food, amazing. I celebrate my birthday here, every year since 2012. Personal rec? The Eggplant parm is a last meal death row style. Meatballs on the side. I'm low carb so house salad (which was next level), and end the night with, mooowahhh, cheesecake. I am a happy girl. Shout out to pro server Elizabeth, true pro. My girlfriend & I stopped at Rocco's on a Saturday night when the whole town was busy. The quaint dining room was only half full & nice ambience for Riverhead. We were at the outlet mall, and googled for a pizzeria. Up came this place. We said to each other.. An Italian place named Rocco's? We checked yelp, and said... Let's go!! We liked the landscaping on the outside of the restaurant, and it was very clean on the inside. We were seated right away. Our server, Cassie, was very friendly and helpful. First up was a basket of warm, yeasty, rolls, with an EVOO with a balsamic "R" for dipping. Very good. We ordered the small cold antipasto. Fresh mozzarella, ham, provolone, salami, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts over iceberg lettuce. When it came, we had to ask... "This is the small?" It was *YUUUUUUUGE!* The meats and cheese were savory, and the pickled veggies that came with it were also very nice. Next item up was a large salad. The salad was very fresh, and it came with a creamy italian dressing. For our pasta, my partner had the penne bolognese with big dollop of ricotta. You choose the sauce you want, and choose the type of pasta you want. She said it was very good, and the pasta was al dente, just the way she likes it. I chose the Mama Teresa. Peas, prosciutto & mushrooms in a light tomato cream sauce. I chose spiral pasta, which was also al dente, and the spirals captured the tasty creamy sauce so well. We brought home some of the antipasto, and quite a bit of our pastas, because the servings were so huge. My pasta made a second meal for me, and my partner had a second and third meal. All this food and 2 sodas came to $51 before tip. The amount on the check and the credit card slip were different, and when I asked why, I was told that there is a 2 percent discount if you pay cash. Basically, a credit card surcharge. It's mentioned on the check, but I didn't see it. Other small businesses do it as well. It's how they pass on their credit card charges. If you want delivery, they are also on the "Slice" pizza delivery app. Maybe the next time we will try the pizza. We enjoyed our meal. Thanks!! read more

Regular slices for lunch were good. Not as good as they were a couple of years back though. I don't think it's the same people from before. The kids couldn't even eat the food.. It honestly wasn't even worth calling them after getting it delivered. There are several good pizza places in Riverhead and this is certainly one of them. Crust is crispy and several good toppings. A slice of chicken marsala or chicken francese is a meal. The traditional Napolitano style is very good. Kids love it. I've been here often for pizza but only twice for dinner. They serve typical Italian American fare. Busy in the afternoon at counter. Warning: existing the place be cautious as there is no shoulder on Rte 58 much of the way. Never turn left on exiting. read more

Our family had to drop off our car for an emergency repair at the auto shop next door and were so glad to come across Rocco's for lunch. Cassie the server was attentive and warm. We sat at a table outside in the shade and she came out several times to make sure we had everything we needed. She was very patient and kind with our slow-eating 3.5-year-old. Food was pretty good. We liked the chicken parm sandwich and the whole wheat pasta lunch platters. The other staff we spoke with briefly were nice too. And the space and bathroom were clean. read more

An out east journey to get a thin crust clam riddled pie from some spot way down the road, I passed Rocco's, but not before pulling over to check them out; because why not try all the pizzas from all the places? I walked in and was greeted with a smile, my eyes went all over the place looking at their normal pies, and what I imagine was a special: this heavenly slice with an almost scampi like shrimp, a broccoli that was plucked from a teriyaki dish, and the most amazing balance of sauce and cheese, all on a nice crispy crust. Man oh man, I have been back a dozen times hoping they'd have it and no one really knows what I'm talking about; one girl said yeah sometimes they just throw things together one day, but you can order anything you want and they'll make it... My imagination spiked, my wallet hand clenched... The possibilities, Roccos is awesome! Great eggplant tower as they call it, super good and crisp crust on every slice, great slices! I should really come back on a pasta night or to order a full pie, I'm a bit far away but I've made trips out there because they are that good. Just ordered some Alfredo pasta and it was so poorly cooked that the oil and cheese separated in the sauce. On top of that it was poorly packaged and leaked everywhere. The garlic cheese bread wasn't any better with uncooked garlic under some melted cheese but it was cold. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service. I'm on my last day of being pregnant and was craving a certain pasta and saw they had decent reviews. I came to try the pasta I was craving.. and you know a pregnant women's gotta satisfy the craving. The waitress.. took 20 mins to bring me water, and my pasta wasn't what I ordered.. she then proceeded to try and have me eat the pasta that she messed up and brought to the table.. which was completely off from what I ordered.. very disappointing won't be returning. read more

After not going out for such a long period of time, with our masks in place, the 4 of us went to Rocco's for dinner. Social distancing was maintained and we were 6 feet away from other patrons. We were seated and our waiter, Steven took our drink orders while we looked over the main menu and the specials menu. Our drinks arrived along with a basket of bread and a dish of EVOO with some olives. We ordered some mozzarella sticks which came with a red sauce which were tasty. Our salads arrived shortly after which were good. We ordered our entrees [2 fettuccini alfredo, one bowtie pasta dish and shrimp marsala. The food was very good and plentiful and two of us took home our leftovers for lunch the next day. Our meals came with a dessert so we all opted for cannolis which were small but arrived on a plate drizzled with chocolate syrup. I usually get a cup of espresso but was so full that I opted out of this. It was an excellent meal with good service. 5 Star is based on service, 3 Star rating for the food. I was looking for a quick bite and ended up getting lost because I'm not from the area. I was looking for another pizzeria with a higher rating but got lost again! Lol needless to stay I stumbled across this spot and boy am I glad I did. The service was actually better than the quality of the food but I didn't mind you. I'll tell you why because Steven the waiter who attended me made my experience here memorable. You may be thinking how memorable can an experience be at a pizza shop? I'll tell ya, from the moment I sat Steven was very attentive from asking if I needed one or 2 souvenirs to eat as I was with my daughter to offering if I wanted to take the bread they served home? I mean this guy really delivered amazing customer service at a pizza shop? What I admired the most about the guy was that he was patient, prompt and beyond attentive despite having 7 tables filled with family to attend all by himself. This guy deserve a raise! I'm not sure what's going on there.....if the business was sold or there are new cooks, but the food is nothing like it used to be. Chicken Marsala has more tomato than wine and is very sweet. Eggplant Parmigiana had NO SAUCE or CHEESE at all in between layers, only sauce on bottom of tin and sauce and chintzy cheese on top. When you cut into it all you see is gray. Very unappealing. I go to Riverhead a lot for work so finding a pizza spot worthy of a pit stop finally paid off! I was getting work done on my car when my stomach made it known that it was time to refuel. I saw Rocco's and pulled right in. Very nice modern looking building, with a great feel about it. Coming in I saw that business was good because of all the traffic, but I needed confirmation on that the only way I know how.......eating for myself. I sized up their large selection of specialty slices and got two that fit my appetite, the chicken marsala slice, and the chicken parmigiana slice. My brother chose the buffalo chicken slice and the chicken parmigiana roll. I was impressed with all the selections. My brother understanding my quest to eat and review for Yelp allowed me to try his food. This place does not let down. Each item had a unique taste and style about it. My favorite was the marsala slice. It was thick, however the bottom was crunchy, while the top of the crust was soft because of the marsala sauce. They used fresh mushrooms as well and blended it all together with a rich homemade gravy. The staff was very nice too. One of the waitress there talked about the place like she owned the business herself. This made me believe she cares about what she does there. Trust me when I tell you I will go again. I loved my experience there. I feel that's what matters the must when dining, the feeling that you enjoyed the sights, sounds, and food, that is what drives us to dine out. After a very long, long day (01/01/16) of hanging with family at the outlets, we were starved. We'd already done Applebee's for breakfast, Panera was out of the question, and the other fast food joints were not appealing. We wanted table service. It was 9:00 PM after all! We took a chance at what we thought would be just a pizza joint and were very pleasantly surprised. It was Saturday night, the place was filled with two small families and a few pizza patrons. We were a party of 6 and were quickly seated at a round table in the corner. Small place but very comfy and homey feeling. The garlic knots were amazing! Freshly baked, warm and oozing garlic butter. Our waiter, Matt, was toooooooo nice! Very accommodating and helpful. He took our orders and a short while later the orgasms began. The Baked Clams were out of this world (I am allergic but everyone at the table raved about them) The Eggplant Parmesan was so delicious and flavorful that it made my mouth water. The Lasagna looked delicious and my brother loved it. I order the Pasta Mama Teresa and I was 100% completely satisfied. The pink sauce was sweet/savory, the pasta perfectly cooked to al dente, the mushrooms and peas were beautiful and I want to eat it every day! This place totally exceeded all of out expectations! I was excited to see a new Italian restaurant opening up in Riverhead in a space that has had its fair share of turn over in the past couple of years. Through some easy internet investigating, I was able to figure out that this place has another branch in the St. James area and the consensus seemed that it was steady, if unspectacular, Italian standards. And, I think I would agree with that. I went for dinner in the middle of October, a few weeks after it had opened for business, and it still felt like they were ironing out some of the bugs. The dining in area is somewhat small (about 8 tables), and the separate area for eating pizza seemed also a bit on the smaller side. For dinner I started with the Pasta Fagiole soup. Which was nice. It had everything you wanted in Pasta Fagiole, but it just kind of felt...generic. Nothing special, nothing wrong. A nice way to start the meal, but if I wasn't as hungry next time I go, not something I would miss. They also provide small, warm dough knots for you to snack on while you're waiting for your entrees to come out. The Pasta Mama Theresa (Peas, Prosciutto, Mushrooms in a light marinara cream sauce) was anything but light. It was certainly stick to your rib style food. This is a place to go when you're hungry. Not a place to go when you want to feel like you're in Italy. There was a pile of sauce left on my plate way after the pasta ran out, and the peas and mushrooms were not garden fresh that morning, for sure. The pizza is serviceable. If I was craving a slice or two, and was in the area, I'd certainly stop in. But it did not become my go to place. It's sort of like Parto's, another Italian-American restaurant in Riverhead. It serves big portions of pastas with Italian names, and all the types of "Meat then Style" you can see at any catering event (Marinara, Franchese, Scampi, Parmigiana, Marsala) But by no means is Rocco's bad. Not even close. It's the type of Italian place one goes to when you feel like eating a giant plate of Chicken Parm and Pasta. Having a rice ball the size of your head.
