    The old way

Used to be our favorite pizza in town, until today. Photos show the difference between a couple years ago and today. I have many photos of their pizzas which I would use to brag to my friends; until today. We usually get a half mushroom, half pepperoni and they have been divine. Until today. They switched from using thick pepperoni to skinny sticks, and only are using about 25% of what they used to. And the price is higher (which I would not care about if they didn't go so miserly on the pepperoni.) Probably will stop going there, after being a regular customer for about 2 decades. Extremely disappointed

    Calamari

This place was recommended by a friend as a local place with home cooked - esque meals. I have to say that it did have a very comfort food vibe to it. The food is overall very gluttonous in a greasy way but on a freezing day, it hits the spot! Food: we ordered the white pizza, rice balls, calamari, and pasta. The white pizza was delicious and filled with ricotta which I love. The rice balls had beef in them, which was not specified in the menu. The pasta was very oily and could have used more salt but still good. Service: honestly not the best. They had confirmed the order and then told us they didn't have something we ordered. We did delivery and it took over an hour to get our food. Also they have us the wrong receipt and we're deceptive about prices

    Half of an Italian Hero

Ordered an Italian hero to-go and could not believe how huge this thing was. It legit took me three days to finish, it was that stacked with cold cuts, cheese, hot peppers and oil and vinegar. Scotto's itself is a small shop with a variety of sandwich, pizza and prepared food options. There's seating here if you'd rather stay and enjoy your food, but the bulk of their business seems to be to-go orders. I stopped in right before they were closing and was able to get my sandwich quickly made. Their freezer options of premade meals were also tempting - they have any kind of pasta you could possibly want along with Italian staples like chicken and eggplant parm ready to go -- all you have to do is stick them in the oven. The salad options (macaroni, potato, marinated mushrooms, etc.) were a little lacking in my opinion, but this could also be because I went at the end of the day. If you're ordering a sandwich from here, don't let the sticker shock deter you. Yes, this sandwich was $20 but again, it could feed three reasonably sized people.

    Mozzarella custom sandwich

Stopped here for sandwiches shortly after arriving in Hampton Bays on the train. Only one block away from the train station, this deli was the most convenient lunch option on our way to the house we rented. I ordered three custom vegetarian sandwiches for about $16 per sandwich, each of which were large sandwiches. Service was friendly and quick. I noticed in their refrigerated section they had some ready to bake Italian dishes, which would be a very easy dinner if you were doing a house rental like I was.

It was a little difficult to find since there are no street signs in the area and the restaurant is kind of hidden behind some large bushes. We finally found it. The parking lot is very small and as a result, they have instituted valet parking. They have done away with paper tickets and you have to use a QR code. When you are getting ready to leave, you can contact the valets and they can have your car ready for you when you come out. We entered the restaurant after squaring away the car and it was early so there was no problem being seated. It is a very pleasant looking space, on the water with seating indoors and outside. It is a great place to watch the sun set over the water. David B..was our server and after setting us up with some water, he took out drink orders [a Corona beer and a Negroni] We began looking over the menu. It is not a vast menu and each food group [meat, seafood, etc.] has limited choices. The appetizer listings have several more options. Wine list is impressive and is by the glass or bottle along with a list of specialty cocktails. . Our drinks arrived and we gave David B. our food order. My friend to the spicy shrimp rigatoni and I ordered the salmon. Our food arrived shortly after. Both meals were delicious. The spicy rigatoni can be made according to your heat level. The salmon was sitting on a bed of 3 boiled potatoes, olives, capers, cherry tomatoes and mashed potatoes with a sprig of rosemary and was cooked to perfection. It flaked away very nicely. My friend got another Corona and I continued to drink the water provided after my Negroni. In terms of caveats, it is pricey [food and drinks] and although we were there for happy hour, there is no per se happy hour menu that we were made away of. It is a large place, clean with more than adequate staffing. I did not use the restroom while I was there so I cannot comment on how well it was maintained. David our waiter, was attentive and accommodating, checking on us periodically to see if we needed anything else. Our table wobbled a bit and they sent someone over the take care of it for us. I would recommend but as the summer season continues-reservations.

Old school style with lots of wood, quiet ambiance & very attentive service. The "Eggplant Tower" was ok. It was a typical Italian American restaurant with all the classics. The food: Penna A la Vodka with Sausage- This was highlight of the meal, I thought the version here was excellent. The sauce has a bit of sweetness but wasn't over the top sweet. I would get this again. Lasagna- The lasagna was good, the sauce was nice, overall flavor was solid. Chicken Piccata- This was the only dish I didn't care for, while the flavor on the dish was fine, the chicken breast was cooked to death. Also, the artichoke heart they are using for the dish, they need to take out one outer layer because it makes the hear fibrous and chewy. Our server came over and told us that two of the items on the chalkboard - including one we had planned to order - had been sold out already. This was at 6 pm on a weekend night. So we went back to looking at the menu. Within seconds, our server showed up again - the steak had been 86ed. We went back to looking at the menu. Our server returned to our table a couple of minutes later and told us how he liked to rank the restaurant's dishes, then telling us about his top three in minute detail. We were pretty sure what we wanted at this point. But our server came back one more time to tell us that the salad from the specials menu - again, a dish we planned to order - was gone. At this point I began to wonder if we would be allowed to pick our own food for the meal. Anyway, we settled on another dish and beckoned our server over for his fourth (and first invited) visit to our table. We ordered. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. The pasta and pizza were good, the salad dressed with something a bit too acidic. We ate, paid, and left, still somewhat in disbelief. Maybe if this place had fewer items on the menu, they'd be able to stock more ingredients for each one. As things stand, it's a rather frustrating venue (albeit one with a clearly devoted following). P.S. The noise level in the restaurant is high - we were practically shouting to hear each other at various points during our dinner.
