We have recently completed a major pool/patio area renovation. One of the first things we had to decide (out of so many things!) was the type of pavers we wanted for the pool apron and patio area. Our landscape/masonry company recommended Back Yard Living and Patti in particular. One can easily become overwhelmed at the sheer number of paver selections...various types and colors of stone abound. We took an initial walk through the store as well as outside where they have extensive examples laid out. We eventually narrowed things down but it was Patti who ultimately knew what questions to ask us and helped steer us to our final selection. The pavers and borders have since been installed and we couldn't be happier. We had to return to the store to decide on new pool coping. We hated the pool coping style that was there originially. There are a number of pool edges to choose from. We thought we wanted a flat edge but are happy we went with the "coastal cape design" that Patti showed us and recommended. He lists the materials and the amount of material needed with a total price. He does not list the cost of these materials. $22,900+!!!!! IS ABSOLUTELY outrageous! I know previous reviews state that you get what you pay for but no honey, just no. This is completely inappropriate and I feel like you completely inflated the bill just because you didn't want to do YOUR job and provide us a quote. Since my husband and I moved to Cambridge five and a half years ago for his graduate program, we've acquired almost all of our furniture here - everything from a leather couch and armchair set in excellent condition for a reasonable $600 to a gorgeous Crate and Barrel kitchen table for a mere $40. We've also purchased bookshelves, end tables, lamps, desks, and more. Obviously by virtue of fact that the furniture is by donation, there are always going to be some ugly or low-quality items to weed through, but I'd say it's well worth the time. As has been noted, the hours are very limited: currently Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. If possible, I'd strongly recommend arriving promptly at 10, especially on Saturdays: within 15 to 30 minutes of opening, often much of the best inventory has already been claimed.
