After reading the Yelp reviews where it was mentioned that they are out of bagels by 11:00 AM, I jumped in the car and my wife texted my daughter's and her order. I got there at 8:42 AM and there were two people in front of me. There was only one person making use of the ample seating that was available. After I ordered, I turned around and there was over a dozen people waiting. The bagels were fresh and very tasty! Excellent! One serving me was a bit grumpy and the other was very nice, so service is a coin toss. Get there early! read more

Stopped in on Sunday morning while leaving the rainy blues festival (we certainly didn't want to leave, but spending the day being poured on didn't sound like fun). We were looking for a place for breakfast and spotted this - sent a quick text to my grandson because he is a bagel lover and spends time in Rockland, he said it was great and it was! We had breakfast sandwiches on asiago bagels. So good! Mine was bacon - crisp, and the egg and cheese were great - Wayne ordered his with sausage and said it wasn't the best but okay. The bagels are good if you're up early enough to get one but don't expect to have a good experience. I've been going to Hole in the Wall on and off over the past 25 years when in the area. To this day the space has not changed. It doesn't look like a screw has been tightened or a single enhancement has been made to this place. The staff has also never been particularly friendly over the years. I visited recently for the first time in 3 or so years at 11am and before saying a word to the woman behind the counter, she said "we're out of bagels except cranberry orange and cinnamon raisin". I politely said "no problem, I'm just here for cream cheese anyway", which was only partially true. I grabbed 2 tubs of cream cheese only to realize when I got home one was misplaced and I didn't check the label so I didn't get the flavor I wanted. Out of bagels at 11am on a Saturday and your open until 1 and serve sandwiches? Sounds like they're intentionally missing out on business if they aren't increasing bagel production. Had breakfast here, consisting of two bagels and two coffees. They were both very good; the servings of cream cheese and other items were plentiful, one may even say almost too much. A word of warning: the logistical issues are real. We got there at 10am, and half of the types of bagels were gone. By the time we finished eating and were on out way out, there were only two types left. So if you're planning on lunch, it may be best to place an order ahead. read more

I walked in and was immediately concerned with the pale appearance of the plain bagels. I bought a single plain bagel and conducted my one bite test. The texture was wrong and it had no flavor- I threw the bagel away. To be fair to the business, I gave two stars because someone is buying these bagels. read more

Stoped here for a quick breakfast. I got the spicy librarian with no meat and it was delicious! I got my sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. I do feel as though the jalapeño bagel could be a little bit spicier but I like things really spicy.The bagel was a little bit smaller than average but it was packed with egg and cheese. The coffee is delicious it's self served. I found that the prices were good. For two spicy librarians and a large coffee it was 14 bucks! I would definitely recommend!! read more

The two ladies greeted me upon entrance and there is space for you to enjoy your visit. I purchased 2 egg & cheese on everything bagels & 1 onion bagel with cream cheese. The bagels were a bit thin and don't really have any sustenance to them and the egg was way over cooked. The cream cheese was very good & the price was reasonable. Didn't have to wait too long to be served. More than likely will go to Mcdonalds next time for a steak egg and cheese bagel versus another visit. read more

Poor value for money Bad judgment from staff We went in for 2 bagels and 2 coffees We assumed that our $8.65 Reuben and $5.50 breakfast sandwich would have the price of the BAGEL included. Wrong. I ordered both on a cheese flavoured bagel. When I went to pay and the employee said $21.65 I nearly coughed up my coffee. We had been to the wonderful Camden Bagel Cafe with 4 people and paid less the previous day! I had her walk through bill and she said that the type of bagel I chose was $2.00 extra!! I asked her where this was disclosed to customers. She said, "it should be on the board." It wasn't and she couldn't find it yet refused to credit me $4.00. Sadly disappointed by this experience. I may be spoiled by having tried many fantastic bagel places in LA and NY, but I was expecting so much more and was left "wanting" after our visit to Hole in the Wall Bagels. The good news is the service was excellent...very nice, friendly and helpful. We came for breakfast and felt the quality and value for the money was low. The bagels are ok, not great. The lox sandwiches we ordered came with the least amount of cream cheese and lox I have ever experienced, ever, at any bagel establishment. With one sandwich we ordered it with onions, and it came literally with one tiny piece (not slice) of onion on the bagel. The lattes were excellent as was the coffee. But our big disappointment was in the value of the bagels and bagel sandwiches. If they can improve that, they could be a 4 star experience. read more

I love this place. Freshly made bagels that have an almost crispy outside and soft inside is my bagel perfection. I love the wide range of bagel flavors to choose from - your basics of plain, wheat, everything, and onion to the fruity cranberry/orange. Then there are my favorites of Spinach Cheddar, Jalapeno Cheddar, and Garden Vegetable. What's great is you can get a bagel and cream cheese (several flavors to choose from there too) or stop in for lunch and get a turkey, egg salad, blt or a variety of other bagel sandwiches. I would definitely recommend Hole In the Wall. read more

Better bagels than any we have in the Bay Area! They're smaller than Noah's, though still larger than Noah's were when they first opened and were authentic, as opposed to corporate. But the texture sets them aside. They're firm textured, not kvatchy. Alan picked us up a couple this morning for breakfast. We cut mine in half and froze one half to save for another breakfast. We had garlic-herb schmear to put on them. The bagel was good enough I'm thinking about buying a dozen to bring home w/ us. read more

Delicious bagels still! I grew up in Rockland and always liked these bagels. Coffee was great and so wasn't the atmosphere. I didn't give it 5 stars due to the cost. 2 bagels and 2 coffees cost $12. Bagels here were so disappointing. We got an everything bagel with bacon/egg/cheese and a spinach & cheese bagel with sausage/egg/cheese. The spinach & cheese bagel seemed stale. Both bagels would have benefitted from being more toasted to disguise the lackluster texture. We regularly eat bagels from a few different bagel spots but felt like we suffered through our $15 breakfast of bagel sandwiches & coffee here. read more

The bagels and cream cheese are pretty good.....though the bagels are far from being real bagels. I've had issues with the staff, from lack of friendliness to some pretty strange business policies. Today I stopped by to pick up some flavored cream cheese. When I got out of the car, a woman popped outside and yelled that they were closed since they had no more bagels. When I replied that I just wanted cream cheese, she repeated they had no bagels and refused to let me in. So now I'm left with guests coming and no flavored cream cheese. If you're in town looking for a good espresso cafe, this isn't the place. The girl running the counter wasn't all the friendly and seemed to be about 15-16. We ordered one latte to go and she didn't seem to know what different sizes there are of the cups. And oddly enough, she recommended us to go the Rock City Cafe(which was closed)The Epica Rancillo machine they were using, was a complete mess; the frothing wand was covered in dry milk. The girl had no enthusiasm through the entire process; she was slow and ended up pulling the shot first. She didn't even have the milk out and ready to froth. She had to froth more milk after pouring the milk into the dead shot once she was done frothing the first pitcher full of milk. She even whispered that she hated making the lattes while making the one latte. The latte was a extremely hot after the added milk; once it cooled down it was too sweet from the liquid syrup used. Honestly, I would highly recommend going to Rock City Cafe right down the street for a better drink. read more

First of all, this place is cash only. This would be fine if it was reasonably priced, but it's way overpriced so therefore cards really should be accepted. Second, I got one bagel with cream cheese and an iced coffee and it was nearly $8. Bagels are fine, not outstanding, and the iced coffee is like a standard Folgers roast - we aren't talking gourmet roasts here. $8 would be overpriced even in NYC for a bagel with cream cheese and a standard brand iced coffee. What an amazing find... We were traveling along scenic route 1, enjoying the sights and we decided to give this small bagel bakery a shot (as our stomachs were aching from hunger). We were surprised to find that everything here is made daily and by scratch by its dedicated owners. The bagels were perfect! They were huge!! Baked to perfection with a little crisp on the outside, with warm airy dough on the inside. They had so many creative cream cheese and sandwich combinations that it made it difficult to order! I had the Mexican breakfast sandwich and have to say that it was amazing.. this is a MUST for any food lover, and if you are like us and from the city and are craving a real brooklyn bagel, this place will be your sanctuary!! read more

Went in this morning for a bagel. I was immediately greeted and waited on. I asked about a certain cream cheese, and I was given a small sample on a spoon to try first. I ended up getting the multigrain bagel with Mediterranean cream cheese-delicious! Lots of other types of bagels and flavored cream cheeses. It took just minutes to make. Came to $4.32. They don't accept debit or credit cards so luckily I had $6 cash. Wish they took cards. Will definitely be back! read more
