Went to Cafe Patachou yesterday morning and had one of the best breakfasts of my trip! The avocado toast was warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The bread was perfectly seedy with just the right balance of crunchy and soft, and they were generous with the avocado. I especially loved the radish and pickled onions on top. Such a simple breakfast, but every bite was so good. And then there was the pistachio iced latte. YUM. I added whipped cream, which really took it to the next level. Honestly, I'm kind of glad I only discovered this place on the last day of my trip because if I had found it earlier, I probably would have had four of those lattes. Went to brunch with some friends on Saturday morning and although the crowd suggested a long wait, they said it would only be 15 minutes. Great! And they stuck to that- we were seated on time, but then the issues started. We were sat at the same time as another table of 4 next to us. We got our menus and put our drinks in... and then waited, and waited... I got a hot chocolate that wasn't even hot when I sipped it, and tasted pretty bland. My friends got coffees that they liked, but our waitress seemed so annoyed to be working there! She was very curt and I understand if you're busy, but maybe try for some customer service... We ordered our food (as did the table next to us) and waited soooo long, like 30+ minutes, and we were considering flagging down the wait staff to ask about it, but our waitress never seemed to even be around to ask questions... anyway, we finally got the food, and it was tasty, but I just don't think I would bother with this place again. read more

This is a nice little spot in downtown Indianapolis. It's at the bottom of a business building and next to another café on the other side of the lobby. The menu had quite the variety. The soup had a good taste, but I think it needed a little more coconut or thickness to make it more enjoyable. NICOLE was very attentive and kind. This place was extremely busy on a Saturday morning. Parking is metered, but I was able to find a spot on Washington Street without too much trouble. I liked the complimentary coffee bar while waiting for a table. Since I came with a couple of friends and didn't have reservations, we ended up waiting somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour before being seated. One of the biggest drawbacks was the restroom situation. There are only two gender neutral restrooms, and the wait was incredibly long. I waited close to 30 minutes just to use the restroom. It seemed like only one restroom may have been operational because I only noticed people coming out of one. For a business this large and as busy as it gets, I don't feel that's enough restroom accommodation. The first available table was outside, so we decided to take it. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience. There was nearby construction, making it very loud and difficult to carry on conversations amongst our table. It was also a windy and chilly day, and I definitely underestimated the weather. I should have brought a coat! We weren't in the sun so it was too chilly. The strong wind constantly blew napkins and other items around the table, which became frustrating. During cooler days, outdoor heaters would make the patio much more comfortable. Even though I was uncomfortable, our server was friendly and attentive to us. I ordered the Morning Edition breakfast, and it was excellent. I liked the variety of items included, everything tasted good, and the portion size was just right for me. I finished every bite and left satisfied. I really enjoyed the potatoes and cinnamon toast. I enjoyed my food and service was good, but if you're planning to visit on a Saturday morning, I would strongly recommend making reservations if possible. It could save you a long wait and potentially get you a better seating option. read more

The waiter also gave us the check without us having to ask but it was a bit early about half way through the meal. We didn't mind because they reassured us to take our time, but some might think it rude. Atmosphere: The interior was clean and modern fitting the downtown business atmosphere. Cafe Patachou, what has happened to you? An extremely disappointing experience where we had to leave without ever receiving our food, or even being able to order. Our group of six planned to eat breakfast here before a Colts game. The hostess told us 20-25 minute wait, which we had expected, and why we had arrived early. Nearly an hour later the hostess called us and prepared to seat us. As she started to head toward the table she saw a group of 9 were being seated at our table with another table being pushed in to accommodate. The hostess instructed us to wait while she found out what had happened to our table. She came back to report to us that the manager had brought in a group of 9 and just seated them at our table. She was very apologetic and offered to seat us outside, which we agreed. However, we sat outside for 15 minutes and no one came to take our order. It was like once we were seated at an outdoor table they totally forgot about us. While we were sitting there we saw other groups being called in when tables became available, but no server ever approached us. After waiting 15 minutes we decided that we couldn't wait any longer, so one member of our group went in to tell the hostess that we would have to leave. This would be a one star review except that the hostess was so apologetic and was truly sorry that the manager had seated another group at our table. And she was unaware that no one had come outside to take our order once we were seated outside. Very disappointed with this experience. read more

I'm not sure how crowded the place usually is, but we happened to go when the marathon was taking place and the restaurant was packed. But getting in line to snag a table was a very easy experience and before too long we were seated. The food and coffee were both quite good. The service was attentive and speedy. I got the Double Major omelette, my wife got the avocado toast, and we shared a slice of pumpkin bread. I ordered the broken yolk sandwich with the pork sausage patties. The sausage was very flavorful and didn't have much of the hard gristle sausage can have. We ate here before the Lions vs Colts game and are so glad we made the trip. It is the perfect location and atmosphere for a nice breakfast before tailgating.
