    Fish & Chips

This was the only place I could find that was open on Sunday night, and we were not disappointed! The Fish & Chips was delicious, fish was fresh and moist with a well seasoned/crispy light batter, coleslaw was very tasty, and the fries were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. My only fuss is the same as other restaurants that use metal trays to serve dinner on, the fries cool down so fast that I only enjoy the first few. The meal did take a while due to only one waitress for the whole place who was wonderful and was working very hard!

Perfect for our rainy Monday night. Bartender was fun, beer delicious and our Haddock sandwich and Fish & Chips hit the spot.

We decided to eat here on our annual trip down to Rockland. Apparently it was their first day open in a while. Everything was spotless, tables were spaced out, and they had outside seating available as well. Staff all wore masks and menus were disposable. I got the fish tacos (I was a little hesitant because of the chipotle aioli because I don't like chipotles much) and they were delicious. I kind of wish the serving was bigger, or had a side with it, because while they were yummy, I was pretty hungry not long after lunch. All the items on the menu were similarly and fairly priced, so lunch didn't break the bank at all.

Lived in Rockland briefly. Beautiful small town and this place gave me a longer burger that was delicious. Good beer selection also.

Is this place ever open? Every time I try to eat here it's closed. Even yelp says they're supposed to be open today but nothing.

I had a Black Manhattan cocktail, supposedly differing from an ordinary Manhattan by use of a different kind of bitters (Amaro) and "filthy cherries." These seemed like basic good quality maraschinos to me (3); nothing "filthy" about them. Nevertheless it was good, fruity, and ample strength. The appetizer selection was small and heavy on bread-based items. (No free table bread was available - grrrr.) Most didn't appeal but the Roasted Garlic did, served with bread (2 kinds: a toasted crostini and a fresh crusty sourdough). The garlic was a whole head, sliced open for easy access and presented on a very hot plate, sweet and mellow from long slow roasting, and served with a choice of cheeses (molten blue, brie, whipped feta, or chèvre) - I chose chèvre and it was very good and a generous portion. A very simple dish not often encountered in restaurants. In retrospect this was the best part of the meal. I felt a little rushed at times and impatient at other times. It took a very long time to get the appetizer so I had nothing to dilute the effects of the strong cocktail. But then more than once I was asked about my entree before I was ready; once when ordering the appetizer and another time soon after I received it and hadn't made up my mind yet. I held my ground and told them I wasn't quite ready, and they accepted that and I took my time eating. There was an eclectic selection of wines by the glass. I had an interesting rosé from Slovenia. My entree was a roasted fish filet (halibut I think? It's no longer listed on the menu) served over a tomato-based sauce. This sauce was richly scented and complex and the plate was attractively garnished with micro greens. But the fish was on the small side and the flavor was monotonous - no discernible browning on the top. The other component, probably an herby cucumber-yogurt sauce resembling raita, which should have been a cool complement to the hot tomato broth, instead was melting unattractively and dispersing into it. Perhaps most disappointing, there was nothing else to this dish. It needed a starch or something (rice, boiled potatoes, or even more of those very good breads from the appetizer - wish I had saved some.) So it's good I got the appetizer first, or I would have left rather hungry. Desserts were also very limited and most didn't appeal. I decided on the Clafouti, which is a baked tart, thicker and heavier than flan, with fruit (black cherries) It was way too hot, didn't have enough fruit, and ice cream would be a far better choice than the amorphous blob of whipped cream it was served with. I should have skipped dessert. It was so boring. As for ambience: it's a crowded, noisy place but in a pleasing way. Very small, and I had reserved one of the 6 seats at the bar (I was dining solo). It's whimsically decorated, like with the grape-covered nude statue holding a candle. There was attractive artwork on the walls, some of which I believe was for sale. I did detect smoky odors coming from the kitchen that other reviewers have noted but I consider that a positive thing, not a negative. So come here if you wish. Check it out and form your own opinion. As for me, I wasn't sufficiently impressed and wouldn't return.

The Greek gryo had a wonderful tzatziki sauce, fresh veggies, juicy chicken with a great sear. The haddock fish had a light, airy, and crispy batter. The Mac and cheese was made with cork-screw pasta, a thick, creamy, cheese sauce, topped with a crust of additional cheese and bread crumbs. The food also had very nice plating considering the price point. Each meal was presented in a way that showed thought, and craftsmanship. Overall, this restaurant had the most memorable food of my trip to Maine.

We had intended to eat at a different restaurant, however, said restaurant was full, and this was a back up. When we called they said we're empty so we said fine we are on our way. Fine is not enough to describe it. Don't walk, RUN to order the broiled haddock plaki. What an AMAZING surprise. Flavorful haddock with feta tomato and lemon on top, perfectly sautéed zucchini and yellow squash, and a rice and tomato combo that was absolutely shovel in mouth inducing. Other dishes that were described as out of this world included the atuffed haddock, fried clams, chicken tenders, and don't get me started on the FRITES!! Paired with a can sauvignon that was an excellent selection by the bar team, I was in heaven and had to be rolled away from the table. Absolute perfection in every bite!!

I think the problem is that it's been given a pass for so long that now it's reputation is untouchable, and this unfortunately is going to be a humbling post. It was highly recommended to us by our hotel during our stay in Rockland, and we went the first night, of which they were booked out but no problem at all, it smelled so good we decided to make reservations for the subsequent night. So we did. Mind you, let me caveat and say it's also always a challenge to eat at Italian restaurants, because it means that someone has to make a sauce that's better than you can make it home, and that's normally not the case, save a few exceptions. So we came back, excited, and ready to be blown away, because of the house made pasta, because of the amazing aroma, and because of the beautiful ambience. However, all of our meals fell short. Spaghetti & meatballs, the meatballs were quite dry and somewhat crumbly, and the sauce while yes fresh still had no flavor. The pasta, which was probably most of the excitement for eating there did not taste as delightful as you know fresh noodles should taste. Pizzas were just ok, and although the eggplant Parmesan was cooked well, again the same sauce was used to flavor it and was still non descript. Our server was phenomenal in good news, checking In repeatedly, saw the uneaten meatballs, and asked if there was a problem, which I just replied they weren't quite what I expected. Also, the vibe in the restaurant was amazing. So if anything I would go for that, but food would not recommend.

This one is located in downtown Camden and offers some outdoor patio seating with great views. Sea Dog Brewing is by no means in talks of outstanding beers or brewery considering the far superior competition the state of Maine has. Even their most popular blueberry beer tastes much more artificial than you would hope. Sea Dog has been a brewery for a long while but I don't think they have kept up with the quality of craft beer you can find now. Now despite that negative talk overall about their beers I do believe most of the locations do offer quality pub food. You will find a variety of options including sandwiches/burgers, salads, pasta, soups, and more. It's a spot that everyone in your party including picky eaters will find something they want. It does have a lot of space available for dining. Service wise during our visit was alright. Ordering took awhile and time of seeing our server from one time to next took a little while. Food wise I went with Sesame Chicken Bowl and my wife got the Sautéed Lemony Chicken Piccata. Food was alright, my wife's chicken was quite dry. Overall I think it's an alright spot to grab a bite to eat when in Camden. You can likely find better spots but like I mentioned they do offer quite a variety here so give it a shot.
