My last visit to Rock N Roll Sushi was disappointing! Not in terms of service, cleanliness of the restaurant, or friendliness/attentiveness of the staff. The food was just off. I ordered pork gyoza with all sauces on the side and it was served to me cooler than room temperature. Not refrigerator cold, just cooler than the ambient temperature in the restaurant - so cool-ish. The noodles were hard and rubbery and it was not a pleasant pre-hair-appointment appetizer. I soldiered through it though. I also got my usual the T N T shrimp appetizer with sauces on the side and it was served the opposite in food temperature - it was steaming hot and did have a sauce on it. The shrimp appetizer was clearly the better of the two and I did not get sick from the port gyoza. I hope Rock N Roll Sushi steps up their quality control game in the kitchen and serves items at the correct temperature and also with the sauces plated correctly moving forward. There expeditor must have been snoozing on the job during this visit. Because Campus 805 is so limited in terms of dining establishments, I frequent Rock N Roll Sushi when at the Campus to get my hair done. read more

It's a mid sushi spot. Not the best not the worst just average. The theme is great but there's not a lot of variety in the rolls just they have different names and presentation. I feel like they could be more creative with the ingredients as they apply to the names of the sushi. I immediately called the restaurant to let them know, and instead of being apologetic or helpful, I was met with silence and then told they could only remake it "today." I had already explained that I was back at work and couldn't return. The staff came across as rude and very dismissive of the situation. I was lured in by the guarantee of $20 off of our bill. I've been wanting to try this place because I think the concept is cute and I can do with some non-traditional sushi. I'm not a huge sushi lover, and very particular about the types of rolls I do get, so I actually liked the fact a lot of them were cooked or had tuna. When we arrived it must have been the dinner rush because there was a crazy wait! I think it took 30-40 min to get a table. They very badly need some kind of call back software or text software for when tables are ready instead of having people packed in the front entrance with no masks during a COVID spike. They are very obviously understaffed, which is why they are getting 4 stars. I think given what they have currently they did a great job trying to keep up with the customer flow. I honestly felt a little bad for them. They were dealing with a ton of to go orders and a packed restaurant with 3 servers. Even the manager was trying to wait tables. We ordered the sampler appetizer, which was really good, but it was all fried food. I'd probably skip it again unless I came with a couple more people just because I don't like to eat so much fried stuff. For mains we ordered the crowd surfer roll and the punk rock roll. I really loved the crowd surfer roll. The punk rock was ok, but I felt like the strawberries on it were too weird for my taste. Seemed like a family friendly place and the service is what is saving this 3 star. Ordered regular tuna, yellowtail and eel sashimi. Tuna was great but feel the yellowtail was not yellowtail. While looking for a convenient spot I noticed this place had more options with raw fish as well as nigiri and sashimi. Anyway, got the salmon nigiri and sashimi, and anyone who's had real sushi would agree, this was not cut properly, not at all, plus the part of the salmon they served was the lowest quality, the stringy part. The Journey roll had way too much sauce and didn't quite match the description, plus it had very little fish. On the plus side, at least the rice was freshly made (not quite proper sushi rice, but at least not dry), and the ingredients were edible and fresh, just wasn't real sushi, maybe this is an extremely americanized type of sushi, maybe their cooked dishes are better. She then proceeded to take it back and then come back to the table saying it wasn't hers because she has curly hair even tho the hair was curly. She did apologize i'll give her that. Later on my friend thought the water tasted weird so she flagged our waitress down and asked for a sweet tea and about 10 minutes later still no tea, i was even able to finish my drink and sit there waiting for my drink to be refilled even after she walked by our booth several times. There's more but I'll get to the best thing of all, our check comes it was $47, I gave $50, she comes back with a receipt and no change which I was going to tip but sure as hell not after taking my money, and making it known that " I'm about to leave, my shifts done". Was excited to try this place. Looked all through menu to try and find something a little healthier that didn't have a fried component or an oily sauce. I decided on the "Heart Roll" - baked. It had a good combination of ingredients, but not much of them when you take away the rice. I can't believe they charge $15 bucks for this. And the presentation seemed so cheap, plastic utensils and cheap little napkins. Also, for being downtown right next to all the micro breweries, horrible to no beer selection. This is my third time here and the food and the service have all been fine. I'm not what the complaining was about this place. I've found a couple of go to Rolls - the Metallica & the Sammy Hagar I really like them. Both are really good and would recommend them. I have a few reviews that say they're overpriced- yes I would agree. Similar rolls seem to run $1-3 more here than other places I've tried in the area. The semi-negative is the electronics.
