I love the vibe of this place, not fancy or anything but it has a certain welcoming quality to it. The menu was honestly so big, there was so many things I wanted to try. I ended up getting the maki combo, which came with any three rolls (non-specialty) and a soup and salad. I also got some sesame balls, which I really loved the flavor and texture of. I did wish that it was a bit less greasy, but it wasn't that big of an issue. I thought the food was yummy and you could definitely tell it was fresh. The server was friendly and did a really great job for only his third day (I didn't catch his name, I totally wish did). The wait wait too long either, even when it got pretty busy. The down side to this place is that a lot of the menu items can be on the pricier side. In comparison to other similar places, the portions can be smaller, even for the price point (Everyone at my table ordered sushi, so this may not be the case for entrees). Overall I thought this place was scrumptious and will definitely be back soon!

We came in late on a Sunday night. Just an hour before closing and the place was empty. The staff was super nice and accommodating. Checking on us frequently and making sure we had everything we needed. The menu is quite large and if you've haven't been to a Japanese, sushi, or hibachi place I would say it would be difficult to decide what to get. I had the tonkatsu which came with soup, salad, and white rice. The miso soup was good and the salad was fresh. My tonkatsu was delicious with the sauce but otherwise a little dry. I think it could've used less time in the fryer to retain some moisture. My husband ordered the hibachi sirloin steak. His steak was cooked just right and was tender and flavorful. We had others in our party who ordered lo mein, vegetable hibachi, and fried rice. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Everything came out hot and fresh. The lady helping us was very kind and tried her best to help us even though it seemed she was running the front dining area by herself. The facility was nice, very quaint, and clean. Wasn't a bad choice to stop in for a bite. I would return to try something else if I could.

Took Friday off so I could have a four day weekend and then made the drive out to Madison to grab my ShakeIt Boba fix and some carry out lunch -- Kobe wound up being my pick for that. I used their website to order online. It was very easy to navigate and its clarity removed any questions or concerns about my order. I could tell exactly what I was getting and could change it to my specifications with great ease. Also, you can order things for their lunch special prices on their website, which I've found isn't always the case with other places -- sometimes they'll only do lunch specials for dine-in only. Not Kobe. Because of that, we got two lunch specials (so an entree with our choice of soup or salad) and an appetizer for about $21 before tip. Great value! My order was placed for 12:15. I arrived a little early, so it wasn't ready quite yet. The super friendly employees offered me a chair to sit while I waited. Food came out at about 12:17. The small staff was effusive, kind, and running a tight ship. There were a couple people dining in, though they were seated very far apart. All employees were masked, and most were gloved. My food was boxed very securely, with not a crumb out of place when I arrived home. They even used cardboard to separate the soup containers from the styrofoam boxes to prevent slippage. The food was pretty good! I got my usual vegetable hibachi and pork gyoza, while boyfriend opted for chicken hibachi this time. The veggie hibachi consisted of carrots, onions, broccoli, mushrooms, and zucchini (I think - possibly cucumber). The soup was a clear soup with a couple of slices of mushroom. The veggies were flavorful and the yum yum sauce was very good - closer to one of my favorites. Will ask for extra if I visit again. Boyfriend said his chicken hibachi was "pretty good," and polished all of it off. The soy dipping sauce for the pork gyoza was tasty and a bit thicker and more complex than your standard soy sauce. My only complaints are that the veggie hibachi was a little oily, and the pork gyoza themselves were a little too chewy for me. I like them a bit crisper. At any rate, this is another affordable, friendly, tasty, and well managed spot for Chinese and Japanese favorites.

We tried this new restaurant after a Facebook friend recommended it and we were delighted! The food, service, and prices were great, the selection was enormous, and it's very close to our house. I'm trying to cut carbs so the server recommended the Seafood Salad and I loved it. Hubby had some Sushi and Onion Rings. Of course, you must have Gyoza and it was delicious.

This is THE BEST Japanese restaurant in Huntsville and Madison. My boyfriend and I have been dining at Kobe for a few years now; since they first opened, actually. Our food has never been bad. Everything we have ever tried from their menu has been phenomenal, and the staff who work here work tirelessly to make sure your food and dining experience is great. They have also always followed social distancing/sanitation protocols for Covid-19 since the first day regulations were put into place. Tonight we bought the most food we have ever gotten from a restaurant, in terms of both dine-in and take-out, and not only was ordering over the phone easy and painless, but they fulfilled this order in just 15 minutes. All of the food was packaged securely, and we had no spillage or leakage from Kobe to our apartment. The food itself was fantastic and tasted just as good as when we get it in restaurant. Kobe is a fantastic restaurant filled with exceptional workers who are dedicated to their food and customers. Please give them a try if you haven't already.

One of the best places in Madison for Asian food! My favorite thing about this restaurant is the food presentation. I've been here several times, and every time I order sushi, the plate is decorated with beautiful flowers or ice sculptures. Today, we had quite a large party, but were served promptly. I highly recommend the agedashi tofu and chicken teriyaki. It's a great place to take your family or date. The price is reasonable and the portions are filling.

This is a very welcoming and lovely family restaurant. Jennifer is such an amazing and wonderful person. This is more than just a little Japanese restaurant but the owner has become family to me. She is a good person that's providing opportunities for all her friends, family members, and young people in the Madison area. I love this place so much!!

We'd never heard of it and having recently returned from the gulf I was feeling rather smug about seafood. What could this Chuck know about it all? Feeling adventurous, we decided to walk over and check it out after eating an entire pizza. Pizza was pretty good. Chuck's Fish was epic. I love that there's no TV at the bar. I love the decor. I love the fact that the namesake was a civil rights attorney. I love the fact that I can get incredible sashimi and order our daughter a pizza that is just as good as the joint across the street. The decor in here is absolutely beautiful. Our server Stephanie was the sweetest ever. She gave us recommendations and helped us navigate choices on the menu. I opted for a glass of their rosé while he got their old fashioned, wasn't his favorite since they did not have Buffalo Trace. He's not a fan of Bulleit. However he was alright with it. We got the Cowboy sushi roll and snapper necks as appetizers. Both very flavorful and cooked well. Having Louisiana hot sauce was the icing on the cake for him. Entrees we got were both mainly red snapper, he got it Parmesan crusted and I went for bronzed because it came with mango salsa over rice pilaf. He had risotto. Both dishes were very good, however they definitely could have benefited from a bit more salt (in our opinion). Green beans were cooked extremely well. We both cleaned our plates! As for desserts I went for the bread pudding and he opted for the creme brûlée since he had never had any. Bread pudding was absolutely immaculate and I'm glad Steph talked me into adding ice cream. He wished he had gotten my dessert after trying it but his creme brûlée was still pretty decent. Not a big custard guy. Overall this was a great experience and to help others gauge their bill, we spend a little under $200 before the tip. Not extremely cheap but not overly expensive. We just like trying it all - drinks, apps, entrees and desserts. Would love to come back soon!

People started mentioning Miso Happy to me a solid year and a half before I finally went. Then it was a... Tsunami. I've always brought no less than 4 people and thrice now there's been groups of teens on tatami mats and gallons of boba. I think what makes Miso Happy is it's ability to be approachable but also fairly authentic in its offerings. This building was... something else. This restaurant used to be called Edo, like the old world Japanese capital and a ton of American Japanese steakhouse across the nation. It looks like a traditional sukiya-zukuri which really has a casual but refined "vibe"... Great for friends and family alike. If you have a group, there's tatami and seiza setting --be advised: drop your shoes and your butt closer to the floor. There's also an embrace of this anime wave as Totoro motif that somehow fits. The staff is inviting and works to accommodate changes as they come up. Now I haven't tried every sushi roll in the place yet but it's reliably fresh and tasty. There's no euphoric or transcendent experience to be had as far as I've experienced BUT... They don't miss, either. There's also donburi and hibachi, bento boxes and lots of "comfortable" dishes to make everybody feel at home. And then there's the ramen. It's among the best in Huntsville... and that's considering even some favorite ramenya in town like Kamado and new comers like Kyuramen. The broths are distinguishable, deeply flavored and has something for just about everyone: shoyu, tonkatsu, beef and veggje/miso options in deep tetsu bowls with a really nice aesthetic. I tried the big wave poke bowl last time and they're also satisfying... Further pushing the idea that Miso Happy is a great Japanese generalist in town. The owner even stopped by each table to make sure everything was perfect but didn't linger too long. I started with the takoyaki, and it was one of the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and the octopus was tender. The sauce and bonito flakes were just the right amount. For my entree, I ordered the curry chicken katsu lunch special, which comes with a soup or salad. I chose the miso soup since it was cold out and it was absolutely the right choice. The katsu was perfectly crispy and paired beautifully with the rich Japanese curry. I especially loved the big pieces of mushrooms and onions in the curry. Before heading out, I ordered a lychee green tea with boba and lychee jelly to go. The boba was perfect and didn't get tough sitting in the cold drink like some places. 10/10 would go back and would recommend to anyone who is looking for an authentic and fun Japanese restaurant.

The beef bulgogi that I cooked was okay... I've had better elsewhere, but maybe that's because I'm not a very good cook and may have grilled it too long. The lemon chicken was also ok, but I probably cooked too long and I only ate a couple of pieces because server warned me I should use scissors to cut chicken to make sure it gets cooked enough inside, and, well... I got to feeling anxious about if I was undercooking or overcooking it, so I gave up. The salad was meh, and I didn't like the look of the cucumbers (they looked brownish, not fresh) so left them untouched. At first, I thought the restaurant itself looked nice... but then I noticed that the tables and floors were not the cleanest, and walking back to the restrooms, I passed a kitchen or prep area that had several puddles of water on the floor. It did not help me feel comfortable. It's a large restaurant, but there were only a few patrons inside during the height of rush hour. I should have been more observant before I sat down. Overall, I really wanted to like the place and a positive is that the Korean music videos on the TVs were very enjoyable, but unfortunately once I got to feeling "ick", I just couldn't shake that feeling.
