I decided to be adventurous and ordered 3 different things. - Alaska sushi roll, 5 of 5, best I've had in this area, and cheap too! Lots of flavor in a tiny location. Very easy to order some quick and tasty food. The server/cashier was helpful and knowledgeable which is always a plus. The menu for this place during quarantine is absolutely beautiful. I have been ordering at other places during lockdown, and this place was impressive. A full menu, lots to choose from, and happy with what I saw. I ordered some egg rolls, Lo Mein, Wonton Soup, Moo Goo Guy pan, and a couple other menu items for other people. (This was for a family of 6, lol). I went to pick the stuff up and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because I ordered my stuff at 6:05pm. I was told at 6:55pm my order would be ready. I showed up at 6:53pm and I called to let them know I was there. They told me to go through the drive thru to pick it up. Well, there were 2 cars ahead of me. By the time I picked it up, I was 7:33. I wasn't a happy person considering I had a bad feeling that food would've been cold. Fortunately, the food wasn't cold. On my way home, a dump truck in front of me stalled in the middle of a one lane road, and I slammed on my breaks. Guess where all the food went?? Yes, on the floor. Wwwwaaahhh!! Hole in the wall that is located fairly close to the UA-Huntsville campus that definitely attracts the students to sushi rolls, hibachi plates, and Chinese dishes. I desperately want to love this place. I'm not sure if I just ordered the wrong thing, or just an off day for lunch. We called it in for pickup. I ordered the Hibachi Rice Box Combo Lunch no rice extra veggies. The veggies were great. Great variety, however it wasn't the typical hibachi sauce or veggies. It was really oily and the sauce appeared the be oiled based. The Beef (steak tips) was the best protein. The chicken was actual diced chicken breast but had a almost dry taste. Lastly the shrimp and scallops, were a complete no go. The shrimp didn't seem very fresh, and the scallops were the size on a half dollar and roughly 1/4 of an inch thick and super rubbery. The sauce that comes with is like a take on a Yum Yum sauce. It reminded me of a warm ginger dressing. The inside had a musty smell almost as well, and the sushi counter was cluttered with items on top and the "fresh fish" inside the cooler on display did not seem super fresh. When we come back I will definitely try the teriyaki beef with extra veggies, or the beef and veggies with sauce on the side. read more

Asked for the worker's recommendations for two entrees and two sushi rolls. He suggested the honey sesame chicken and the General Tao's as well the California roll and the Philadelphia roll. One out of four were tasty. The two entrees were hardly distinguishable from each other, with the sauces having such little flavor that my friend and I who were sharing all the items kept joking that we could hardly tell one dish from the other! They felt like highly-breaded, scantily-meated, microwavable meals you get from the frozen food section at the grocery store. The rating of 3 stars does not reflect the number of times I have eaten at Rice Box, both this and the Florence location. This is a terrific restaurant for a quick bite to eat in or to carry out. I have tried over 75% of the items on the menu, and have never been too disappointed in the quality and consistency of the food. The dining in experience is also fantastic, with a very low key environment to enjoy your meal. The reason for my 3 star rating is that their food is very normal as far as Asian food goes. They take no risks when preparing their food. This allows them to provide a very consistent experience, but not a very exciting one. This rating is based upon my drive through experience and the quality of my food. I decided to try this place out after leaving the car wash since it was nearby. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken & Shrimp. The wait was about 10-12 minutes or so. The food was piping hot except in the center of the dish which was quite cold. The amount of time I waited should've definitely granted me a thoroughly heated meal. The teriyaki sauce was a bit bland and not rich enough. Run they have roaches'! I'm too disgusted to even have to type this... the food portions were great, the people were very nice, but the roaches (one crawling up the wall by the kitchen) which the man up front tried to kill and remove in a napkin discreetly (but I saw him) and the big grown on that crawled across the counter when my husband got up to pay the bill. I think there was a Rolo's express or something here after that. It's like behind the Logan's Roadhouse on University Drive in Huntsville. The building has been greatly remodeled. Outside it is brightly colored, like a little pagoda or something. But inside, it is an elegant Asian restaurant, with black lacquered furniture. I liked our waitress. "I do not speak much Engrish," she volunteered. That's true. But with a little prompting, she did fine: My wife told her that we wanted to split our meal. "Sprit?" Share, I explained. Anyway, the food was very good to excellent. Check this place out. They also have a drive-thru. For music they were playing some American pop oldies. This is one of our favorite sushi restaurants, not only because of the great food but their great prices. Rice box is normally not too busy and you'll ever have to wait to be seated. Food usually comes out pretty quickly, our food came out a little too quickly. The staff is always pretty nice, we have never had a real problem with them. We did find a piece of plastic in our salad today (Reasoning for 4 stars). When the serves walk away from your table they go sit in another booth and eat right in front of you. This place is not fancy at all. The music is very loud and it's a mix between today's hits and K Pop. They only have maybe 2-3 servers but this place never gets super busy. All their beers are 99 cents after 3pm Wednesday-Friday. Food overall is pretty good. read more

This restaurant chain came recommended to me by a friend. Upon arrival, I was more than skeptical...the place looked like an old chicken tender place and even had a drive-thru. Actually, I very nearly had my lunch mate keep on driving. Judging the book by its cover, I know. The inside was nicely remodeled in the typical 'Asian style' often found. On to the important stuff: the food, which was quite good. My lunch mate and I tried the general tso chicken and some sushi. I won't say it is the best Chinese or the best sushi, but it was better than just good and I'm taking into consideration that you can get both of those better than good items in one location. So, I like to try different local sushi places when I travel. I'd dropped someone off nearby & found Rice Box and decided to give it a try. I pulled up on a Sunday at noon & only two other cars were in the parking lot. That should've been the first sign that the place wasn't that good. I walked in and stood up by the hostess stand, waiting to be seated. A gentleman by the sushi bar asked if I was ordering to go or dine in. I told him that I was dining in. He said that he could help me at the counter. I skimmed though the menu & saw a lunch special that was two rolls for $7.99. Decided to get that. I ordered the spicy yellowtail roll and salmon & avocado roll. The cashier told me it came with a salad & miso soup. I paid & he told me my would be right out. I sat at one of the tables & waited. The restaurant had an odd smell, a mix of musty, cleaner & some kind of fragrance. About 5 minutes later he came over with my food all packed up in a bag like it was a to go order. Oh well. I took the food & left. I decided to eat the sushi in the car as I waited to pick someone back up. I open the salad & put some of the ginger dressing on the salad. The lettuce must've been pretty wet because there was a lot of water in the bottom of the salad container. I didn't try the miso soup because I don't eat miso. Onto the sushi. The two rolls featured a lot of fish, salmon & yellowtail. The fish on both rolls was warm, which made me very nervous. The smell was also somewhat fishy. Usually the fish in sushi is chilled because it's been stored in a refrigerator. I think this must've been sitting out for a while. It also had a shine to the fish. I took a bite from each roll & decided to through out the rest. I really wasn't in the mood to get food poisoning. I'm writing this review a couple hours later & hope that I don't get sick. There are much better options for sushi. Don't think because this place has a drive thru that it's a fast place for sushi. A fast place for food poisoning maybe. read more

Inexpensive is the good thing, quality is the bad thing. You get what you pay for here. If you pay for cheap sushi then you get cheap sushi. Bland, tasteless, and the rice was severely over cooked. Pros: Fantastic prices, especially considering that this restaraunt is very much similar in taste and quality to Stix/ Shogun type establishments where the Hibachi meal is prepared in front of you. I was very happy that we were a able to order two meals, and sushi for about $30 ($40-$50+ elsewhere). Hibachi Beef, Hibachi Steak, Sushi Special (including two rolls, salad and miso soup). Overall, our meal was prepared quickly, and nicely arranged. Our waitress was very courteous and provides good service. Cons- it was VERY COLD (39 degrees according to the thermostat) in the restaraunt, they would not turn the heat on, and it smelled as if the establishment may have a few leaking/standing water issues. If you want cheap and good Chinese food, this is one of the places to go. I visited here with my sister and the decor inside is not that nice; it was dimly lit, but our order was promptly taken and they have a drive thru. Essentially this place has quick service with Americanized asian dishes. It is definitely good and something I would grab with friends, but nothing for a fancy dinner. This place is popular with college students due to how large the portions are. The server is always really nice and welcoming, so I would visit this once in awhile, but it is nothing amazing.
