If only the sushi were as good as the atmosphere and branding of this place. I wanted to love Rock N Roll Sushi but ultimately it just fell flat. The setup is awesome- the menus are posed like old record sleeves, it's low lighting with neon highlights and classic rock videos are on repeat. But when we got the actual sushi, it just wasn't memorable. They had a lot of variety of rolls and other things to choose from. The rolls we got just didn't have much flavor. The fish seemed cheap as it tasted a little fishy and bland, and it was just disappointing. The fried rice was decent, so I guess if I ever came back I'd probably try something hibachi instead and steer away from the sushi. read more

This was some of the best sushi I've had. The menu has really good options but this roll was loaded with so much and filling. The lunch combo is a great choice as the crispy crab wontons as an appetizer choice with the sauce and a roll for under $20. Everything was a 10/10. Definitely recommend!! read more

I had a terrible experience. My tuna was so tough I couldn't even bite through it had to use my hands like I was in the wild. I told my server before eating, and she said she'd let the kitchen know but didn't seem to care and offered nothing. As you can see I had to tear it apart , kept turning to eat . It was bad but it wasn't pleasant to eat . My 5-year-old enjoyed his roll, though it was poorly made. What really bothered me was how the waitress completely ignored him after he politely tried to get her attention. He was upset, and I had to explain that some people just don't listen to kids. I went to the Destin location a few years ago and was not impressed but wanted to give this tallahassee location a try. I've been here three times--ordered via their website/Takeout Toast for pick up--and have mixed feelings. I really like the bagel roll and tuna roll, but most of the other menu items were disappointing. Pros: (1) The prices for regular sushi rolls are reasonable and the sushi is better than what you would get at, for example, Publix or a Chinese buffet. (2) The staff are helpful. (3) Plenty of menu items to choose from. (4) You can enjoy old rock music videos while you dine/wait. Cons: (1) There isn't an obvious place for takeout guests to wait, and the building is small, so takeout guests end up in the way. (2) The food is decent but often looks little like the picture on the menu and can be bland--especially the fried items. The $20 lobster roll is definitely not worth the price; the topping was hard and had an extruded appearance. All in all, this is a convenient location to grab decent sushi, but don't expect anything special. This is basically the McDonald's of sushi places. read more

A co-worker recommended them after I followed my nose to her office lol! I order the salmon roll with added crunchies and a side of fried rice. The rice is so delicious and flavorful, no soy sauce needed. There was a weirdly large amount of peas in my rice which I usually pick out anyway. The salmon roll was delicious! And adding crunchies was a smart move. Probably my favorite sushi so far. The decor is absolutely rock n roll and instagram worthy. It's a little loud for my taste so I would probably stick to ordering out. However they do have bar style seating and some good 21+ beverage options so I won't totally rule out dining in. This place is different from your average sushi restaurant design. There are tvs and neon lights all over with popular rock songs playing in the background. There's even tvs in the bathroom! The server I had was quick and friendly. He did a good job explaining the menu. He also was honest saying that the wait time is long due to only one person rolling sushi. To wait for the sushi roll I ordered an appetizer and honestly it was great! Definitely the poppers are worth a try. When I finally got my sushi roll I was disappointed that there was a minuscule amount of tuna in it. I had to disassemble the roll to find the tuna in there because it wasn't oblivious at all. Consistently understaffed, service here is quite slow. Staff has been very friendly to me, but there's only so much to be done when they've got a single waiter handling both sit down and takeout for the entire restaurant. The sushi is ok, depending on what you're looking for. If you really like deep fried rolls, it seems like they specialize in that here. Raw ingredients are decent, but don't taste super fresh. Restaurant is clean and the "rock n' roll" theme is cool. All in all it's unique enough and definitely for someone, but I expect a little more and I think there's just better sushi places in town. Forget everything you know about sushi... has the thought of combining rock n roll and sushi crossed your mind? If it has, that's a red flag. The service was non existent and our waiter was clearly not feeling the rock n roll vibes tonight. He was in need of a hug to say the least. After enough time for us to debate whether to walk out or stay, the "organic material" arrived. The kitchen may have been jamming out to the rock n roll too much because the presentation of the food was terrible. They specialize in fried food and cheese which coincide with my most hated parts of sushi. Our only reason for rolling the dice on this place was the coupon which was incorrectly applied to the order. Well, our appetizer came out the same time as our sushi and entrees. Ian was our server and he was very nice, very attentive, and understanding. Arkia was VERY helpful and sweet (she'd honestly be the only reason I came back) it's like she could tell there was a problem so she came over immediately and addressed it. Back to the food tho-- veggies were quite literally raw, we didn't get our salads that were supposed to come before our hibachi (with the kitchen pretty much being open you can pretty much see them just standing around), the fried rice was moreso like mushy rice and when the manager came over he tried to argue with us about what was wrong but he ended up still helping us and was very nice to me and I'm a waitress so I know that that's not how a manager is supposed to handle those situations. I get y'all are newer, but like...... The kitchen needs to do better because the kitchen effects the servers tip which isn't fair because the kitchen gets minimum wage... servers don't. read more

If I could give this place negative 5 stars I would. Apparently there are 2 Rachel's that don't know wtf they are doing. Joshua does not know how to do his job in the kitchen apparently. We were there for 2 hours. I ordered chicken hibachi with double rice and add shrimp, and everyone else at the table got their food after an hour, but they I guess forgot about my food. 30 minutes later, they finally bring me my food for it to be wrong. They didn't give me my double rice or my shrimp. Then we were told the whole table would be discounted. And I was told by one of the Rachel's that my hibachi would be taken off, since it was wrong, I had to wait an hour and a half for it while everyone else ate their food. Not to mention by the time I got my food they didn't have anymore yum yum sauce. Then we get our checks and only $3 was taken off, and my hibachi was not taken off. Then Joshua comes to talk to us and was being pleasant at first trying to understand the issue and after we explained he got very rude and sarcastic and basically stormed off from our table. They took a brownie off my check, yet I still ended up paying for my hibachi. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! If you want to have a pleasant meal, Chick-fil-A is across the street. read more
