I came with a party of 10, and they were able to accommodate us without any issues. Everything came out correctly, and the menu had so many options that it was hard to decide what to order. Both the breakfast and lunch menu looked good. I ended up getting the Canopy Road Special with grits, sausage, and an English muffin with a side salad along with the Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast. It was absolutely delicious! Around the table, we also ordered the Texas Tacos, Blueberry Crumble Muffin, Egg Bagel Sandwich and Blackened Salmon Salad, and everyone loved their meals. The salad was HUGEEE, money worth! This was my first visit, but the rest of my party had actually eaten here the day before. Little restaurant in a shopping center, a bit of a distance from FSU but close to a couple hotels and the mall. There isn't a lot of seating inside so the wait is always long. We had to wait about 30 mins and they seated us outside. It was extremely hot in this area as the sun hits the patio in the morning and the fans weren't working properly. The shade that they have also doesn't block out the heat well. The food came out quickly. We had to remind the waitress a couple times for more coffee or we had to waive her down to ask for different things. We had to eat rushed to leave quickly due to the heat. read more

Since my stepson started going to FSU, we've been on the lookout for good breakfast spots. This Canopy Road Cafe location was right up the road from our hotel on Apalachee. Luckily for us, we got here after the breakfast crowd and got seated right away. The cafe is part of a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. It's nicely decorated and the service was very friendly. The menu has all the standard breakfast options along with lots of healthy choices. The omelettes sounded good so we all ordered these with various combinations. My cheddar mushroom omelette served with sourdough bread was delicious! The hash browns were more like shredded potatoes, not my favorite. The coffee, however, was excellent. I'd definitely go back to this spot or try one of the three other locations in Tallahassee. If you're going at the peak breakfast time, just be prepared for a wait. read more

Canopy Road Breakfast over hotel breakfast any day! I was visiting Tallahassee for a few days. My hotel stay did not include breakfast but Canopy was right across the street so made my way over. It did not disappoint! Lucky every time I went it was a short wait, so my party & I were seated quickly. Waiters were super friendly and nice and made some great recommendations. We went twice in 1 week. My recommendations for anyone visiting. Get the cinnamon roll or the blueberry crumble muffin (split and buttered on the grill as recommended on their menu, of course!). Both are perfect sharing size or you could eat it by itself for breakfast. For entrees, I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict. A little too much hollandaise sauce for me. But the all-star was the chicken which had the right amount of heat and full of flavor. They also have great hash browns. You know a breakfast place is good when they have great hash browns. I was able to get a taste of the Douglas Breakfast Skillet over home fries too. Skillet was full of flavor; can't go wrong with that. Just delicious! The Veggie omelette was packed full of all your garden favorites and accompanied by some very delicious and perfectly crisped home fries. I paid an up charge for fruit substitute for one of the starches and it was a good decision - a nice little assortment and all very fresh. Both the goat cheese omelette and the decadent French toast went over well too. Tip to this biz: Yelp waitlist allows you to see the wait and reserve and then you don't have to sit there outside in the sun waiting for 30min. Once seated don't get too excited. We ordered at 12.05pm and received our food at 12.33pm. Food was ok. I really liked the power wrap but the hash browns were the worst I have ever had. The canopy breakfast was good and large size. Overal ok experience but you walk out bitter because all the waiting. Not sure the issue, but what's interesting about this place is that every person working is host server and cashier. From the hostess, to the server, to the food runner at the kitchen window... everyone was SO friendly and on top of it. The Canopy Road Cafe family of restaurants is a longtime favorite. For breakfast or lunch, you'll find generous portions and, for the most part, a consistent product. Check for the seasonal specials- there are often creatively delicious options. The pancake selections are sublime. The cinnamon rolls beats that mall kiosk any day. Prepare for long weekend wait times. Midweek visits have shorter wait times. On my most recent visit, business was brisk - our party waited 45 minutes for a table. We loved the text service & the link to check your place in line. The issue on this trip was the kitchen. They simply ignored the written orders from the waitstaff - adding ingredients randomly to orders, seemingly as the mood suited them. Avocados and onions are in no way similar! That said, I was less than impressed when the waitstaff checked the written order to verify that I was telling the truth or something when I mentioned it. "Oh yeah, you did order avocado, and it doesn't say onions anywhere." Additionally, we placed our used dishes on the service area that waitstaff used as an interim bussing area because, despite asking, no dishes were cleared. We wanted to open a few gifts while we enjoyed our coffee. Note: the waits subsided after we were seated - this was post-rush. It was an odd, bordering on surreal, dining experience. I love Canopy & this is one of the two local locations in the chain I frequent. But two of four orders were flat out wrong & there was little concern expressed from staff. This visit won't stop me from going. I think this was an off day. At least, I hope that is what it was. If you go, get a sweet potato pancake. It is sublime. read more

We chose the Canopy Road Cafe over $15 per person hotel breakfast, and sadly I think we made the wrong choice. Located on the corner of a strip shopping center, it's simple and cute inside, and the staff was very friendly. The menu "sounded" good, with a nice variety, but the preparation, taste, and presentation of our food just didn't make par. My husband ordered the thick cut French toast and a side of bacon.. The French toast was anything BUT thick, and frankly was pretty anemic looking. The bacon was inedible! It looked like normal bacon but was the chew consistency of beef jerky. My son ordered a steak burrito and side of hash browns. He ate only half of both, which was a sign to me that it wasn't awesome because he's a 16 year old athlete and all he does is eat. He said it was all "ok". I ordered the Italian avocado toast. The bread was chewy and tasteless and cold, and the sliced tomato was pale and mealy. My side of fresh fruit was nice!
