Wow!! This place is an instant favorite. It was on our list for awhile, and we finally made the LIRR trip out from the city to go try it. As health-oriented vegans, we felt Rock n Roots is basically perfect. They mostly adhere to whole foods/plant-based principles and even have a selection of oil-free options, a true rarity. We didn't notice the oil-free menu until after we ordered, but we kept it lighter by getting the spicy aioli on the side for the sushi bowl and the banh mi. The sushi bowl was great; so fresh and flavorful; light but still satisfying. We got the banh mi on whole wheat bread and really loved this healthy interpretation of a banh mi. The baked tofu is great. We also enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger with the homemade (oil-free!) patty. Would've been nice if it came with a side of their baked fries. We also loved the pumpkin chocolate chip bread. Soo pumpkin-y! The owners were so helpful and knowledgeable and truly care about making food that's healthy and still tastes great. We didn't have the chance to try the items in the grab and go fridge, but everything looked great, from their legendary sushi to oil-free chickpea salad to an Italian sub (made with seitan from Secret Vegan Kitchen). I love this place. I came back for my weekly fix. I had their loaded nacho french fries and vegan chimichurri steak sandwich. It's like vegan crack and I can't get enough. I've been back several time for more and usually get an extra sandwich for later. The staff is friendly and helpful. Peter and Jordan are always making suggestions that are awesome. Stopped by for a little late lunch. There are 90 minute (Mon-Sat 7AM - 7PM) parking spot around, and I had no issue getting a spot. There are a few tables and counter seating if you choose to eat in. They have some premade snacks/sides and drink, so good to grab and go. The service is friendly and attentive. They ask if I want food to stay or go. I opted to stay, and it took about 15 mins for my food to be ready. They bought me out my food along with a fork and napkins. They do wipe down the tables and counter. The Crunchwrap with Tofu Egg (July special) was piping hot! It's flavorful and has a lot of great textures. It comes with sour cream and chipotle mayo? The veggies were fresh and crisp. The tortilla held together well. It is pretty filling! Note: there is 4% cash discount, so bring cash. A nice vegan spot to hit if you're in the area. read more

I order lunch often as it's a nearby, healthy, and clean option for a meal and juice. Even the gluten-free bread comes out toasty and tasty from their panini press. I will keep ordering, however i am learning that it can be tricky to order for full value. For example, I got the hearty pesto (hearts of palm) on gluten free bread and it had a LOT less filling than the regular panini. Yes the bread is smaller, and it's pricier. Still yummy. Solid vegan cafe with friendly conscientious service. Very tiny with just three small tables but good vibes all around. Rock n Roots salad was very pleasant, and the heart of palm "lobster" nori roll was a treat. Will definitely return whenever we're in the area. Pro-tip, ask for quinoa instead of wild rice. Nice softer texture than the rice and holds the maki roll together even better. I didn't realize when I ordered that the Lean green was pre-made. I first experienced rock n roots when they were at Strong Pilates' grand opening. Peter set up his stand with samples of these bars and some fresh juices and I was already hooked. I haven't really dabbled in vegan foods. Peter is clearly passionate about vegan foods and it shows in their products. Today I decided to see what else they have in store. Peter greeted us with the same friendly energy when I first met him. I got the "veggie tuna" which is made with chickpeas as the "tuna" and carrots, kale, tomatoes. You can get this in a wrap or on a salad. I opted for half a salad. The "veggie tuna" is dolloped atop a crisp kale salad. I wanted one of their fresh juices but their fridges are down. When they're back up get the passionfruit, you won't regret it. Instead I got choco banana smoothie. It's like a healthy treat. I was happy and satiated with this delicious healthy vegan lunch. The food still good, however, I stopped going there, based on principle. When I started going there I was given a rewards card that said "free meal" after an x number of visits. When I finally got my free meal I was super excited, I Placed an order and when I showed my card, the cashier deducted only $5 , I was confused and asked, why are you only deducting $5 when the card clearly said "free meal" she went and talk to the owner, the owner came and said to me, "it's only $5 off" to which I replied "the rewards card clearly said "free meal " the owner had a bit of an arrogant attitude and replied back, "it's $5 off" she said something like there was a mistake on the cards. It was supposed to be only $5 . At that point I decided to pay for my food and leave. I should have walked away but I decided to do the right thing. Unfortunately, the owner didn't as she refused to honor the rewards card. That left a bad taste in my mouth. It's a shame because the food is good, the costumer service not so much! If you have a rewards card program, then it should be honored, whether you made a mistake or not when ordering the cards. This was an incident that happened awhile back. Love this place! What a great vegan cafe, and if you have food allergies they will definitely accomodate you. The dining area is extremely small so we usually opt for takeout or delivery. I have tried the jackfruit, most of the salads and one of the veggie burgers. Cant go wrong! I just wish they had some KETO (low sugar) treats because they are so easy to make. It's hard to find quality vegan, Gluten free food sometimes. Thankfully I discovered this place! The service is amazing, they had a customer service issue and resolved it quickly and appropriately. I got to visit Rock n Roots today and the following is my experience. The location is located on the corner and there is street parking available. Upon walking in, there are three tables set up to the left ready for dining in. On the right there is a fridge with all kinds of goodies ready to grab and go! They have Juices, Seamoss, Desserts, ready to go chickpea tuna and more. The place is clean, has great lighting and an extensive menu! I did inquire about catering and was told to email them for a catering menu which is great to know for events. I was told they are able to cater additional items that aren't listed on the catering menu with advanced notice! I wanted to order a few different things that caught my eye. They have a good menu to choose from & they do have daily specials which I encourage you to check out! I ordered (2) spicy chicken wraps 6.5/10 $12.75 each The wraps are a good size and that's actually the first thing we noticed! They are filled with plenty of lettuce, tomato, carrots, and a "spicy" chicken. It is very fresh and does have a good taste however it does lack some sauce/dressing it really needed something to blend all the ingredients together. We actually felt like we were eating more of a salad than anything. The chicken was not spicy. Unfortunately we did feel like the flavor was lacking here. 1 spicy chickpea tuna sushi roll 8/10 $8.75 Now I am a sushi lover regularly so I just knew I was going to get this item for sure. It was also very fresh, inside it has chickpea, carrot, sriracha and cucumber. On the side it comes with this cute container that holds the soy sauce. This for me was good although there was sriracha I didn't get much of that. However if you are looking for something fresh and tasty try it! 1 Loaded carrot dog - Saturdays Special 10/10 $3.25 Ok this Loaded carrot dog is AMAZING!!! Honestly we were shocked on how tender the carrot was. Definitely will be getting this next time for sure. It's topped with Sauerkraut, pico de Gallo, dijon, ketchup & aioli. The combination of flavors and texture are truly amazing I say order it and get 2! Dina was one of the staff members that assisted us. She was attentive, kind and generous. Thanks to her we had 2 cinnamon crumbles which are Gluten Free $3.50. Firstly they are a great size, sweet, wholesome and a great way to finish your meal. This is a great vegan family owned spot. The food is always flavorful and the staff and owners are a pleasure. The green juice gives me life when I'm feeling sluggish and the coffee hits hard. My go-to is either the quesadilla or the eggplant panini but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The menu is eclectic and there are monthly specials which keep the options fresh. Whether you're vegan or not you will be 100% satisfied with what this place serves you. If you're in town you have to stop by and give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Love! I was in the area with my bf and we stopped for lunch here- I am pescatarian and my bf is vegetarian. THIS IS THE NEXT MOVEMENT! If I had to pick 3 words to use on my first time here today (2/1/24) I would say "that's Fk'n Delicious!" My wife found this place from Yelp and I was surprised to see this place existed in Mineola. My usual spots were either Japanese ramen spots, Mediterranean, and God knows I hate salad. As a new vegan I love cooking my meals and rarely spending money on outdoor dining. But I'd drop money just to eat here. The ambiance is chill and I met Dina who was absolutely adorable and kind. The prices are good compared to many vegan spots. The food flavors are phenomenal and not bland. My burger cheese was not however top notch but it was amazing to say the least. I'm a cheese snob so I just had to be honest. But this burger was not dry at all. We ordered the Thursday loaded fries special, white bean soup, I got the sweet bean burger, and my wife got the Avocado Toast. And we got dessert. This place is clean and parking is not hard to find. They are also going to host a nice Valentines event. I love rustic restaurants with humble beginnings. And I can tell this place will be around for a long time. Ordered from Rock and Roots several times and they never disappoint. I just had their soup of the week, and it was Phenomenal. Cauliflower and Lentil soup like no other. The broth was absolutely delicious but the soup could definitely have used more spinach. More than just a few pieces sitting on top. Having spent over a decade in the kitchen for days prior or going to Pot-Lucks to get a 'real' assortment of Holiday dishes &/or searching for a Vegan resturant that 'might' be open on Thanksgiving or Christmas it is now possible to P/U a 5 course meal &/or single trays of various 'add ons' to your kitchen efforts that are even better than you would make yourself! Buffalo cauliflower wrap, which was really more of a burrito because it was huge (really great, too). Eggplant panini: my wife's choice, but I ate 75% of it because it was so good. A very legit vegan place in East Williston. They have many gluten free options. I ordered their tamales in the past when they had them on the menu. Now I get their loaded nachos offered on Thursdays. I also love their eggless salad (made with tofu) - I get it in 16oz portions. So yummy! I recently tried their Friday special of 3 tacos for $13. The jackfruit is my favorite - the combo with the creamy red slaw is perfect. However, I was disappointed by the corn tortillas they used, which were hard and dry - so unfortunate. It's not difficult to make good tortilla from scratch using masa and a tortilla press. I've yet to experience their sandwiches and desserts, but highly recommend this local establishment. read more
