My friend and I wanted a new place to eat after a long day of boarding. I wanted to try something new. So I picked this spot. It wasn't that busy when we walked in. The hostess sat us down with menus and told us our waitress will be there shortly. We waited for 15 mins. There were people around us that sat down and received their order and waters already. I was able to get a hold of a staff member. He told me that I m not your server and I will get someone to help you. 25 mins has passed and we flagged down the waitress that just served the table next to us and she looked at me and told me I will be with you shortly. I ordered the chicken guacamole on the first visit. The chicken was a tad over done but had great flavor. The jicama slaw carries quite a kick. The corn fritter cake did a nice job of cooling it back down. Where's the guacamole? I don't know if the chef forgot or if they ran out, but I would have liked to have known that upon ordering it. $9.18 for a glass of house Sauv Blanc is kind of steep. The house Chardonnay was $10.11. Both were decent wines but nothing to write home about. They handled our large bunch of groups well on a Thursday evening. Major props to the server that was so understanding about our receipt needs for business travel reimbursement. She really hustled the entire evening. I ordered the soba salad and enjoyed it. STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! I rode my bike from Tahoe City to Palisades on Saturday with family, and ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower. I have a severe nut allergy and purposefully ordered this because the chicken sandwich had pesto on it which was stated on the menu. The menu did not state that the Buffalo Cauliflower had almond paste in it. Luckily there was a trail marathon going on with an ER doctor with an epi pen and Benadryl. Thank god because I was 25 minutes from the ER. Probably won't come back--other spots in the area are better in terms of service honestly. Most everyone was at least.... not unpleasant, but the place was pretty empty on a Monday (it was us who came in without anyone else at first, a table of six or seven guys after work followed maybe 20 minutes after us, and another table of three later) and we were rushed the hell out of there. We came in the second quarter of the Steelers game and were looking for a spot to hang out and enjoy some drinks and food, but we were maybe halfway done with our food when the server brought the check. I was finishing my beer when everything else off the table was gone (and so was the signed receipt). It was... cold and off-putting. Sorry, I guess? I'm extra attentive to when I'm taking up space and tables need turning. I've worked in food service-- I know the drill and know better than to linger especially on those busy nights, but this wasn't one of them and I don't think we deserved that. It was probably the most awkward I've felt at a restaurant in a long while. Food was good and cooked really nicely, but wouldn't be worth it to sit through that experience again. Soooo talk about a perfect day, with a perfect ending. :D It was a beautiful day out, they are seating people outside. So we said what the heck. We were sat way faster than we anticipated, and they were so accommodating! My waitress brought a water bowl for my pup. :D The beer was ice cold and delicious! The French fries and the beer was my favorite part, SO GOOD. They are beer battered and fried to perfection! Sat at the bar at the corner and watched the Niner game. I had a local beer and the salmon. It hasn't been snowing much so the area wasn't crazy busy. There were locals there and the casual bartenders definitely took care of them and were very familiar with them. The salmon was pretty damn good. The mix of vegetables, lentils, puree and the crispiness of the salmon skin were a great combo. I almost went back to get the entrée again during my week-long stay there but I didn't. The staff is very personable, the restaurant is pet-friendly, the location is great, ample outdoor sitting, the food and beverages are consistently good and the portions are generous. We like to sit on the patio and people and dog watch. Elsie, our dog, has plenty of opportunities to mix and mingle with dogs of all breeds. On a recent visit, we had a New York Steak Sandwich (red onion marmalade, arugula, blue cheese dressing, toasted baguette) and a Grilled Chick (Thai lime grilled chicken breast, napa cabbage, ginger slaw, pickled onion, pickled jalapeños) that were very good. The steak sandwich came in a baguette and the grilled chicken in a pitta bread. Both were perfectly toasted, warm and yummy. They offer a wide variety of beer and wine and the cocktails are creative and big. The atmosphere is very casual, it is good for groups and kids. Came here after we just arrived at Tahoe at night. We were planning on going to a different spot in the village but this place seemed a bit more lively than the other. Plus we had our pup with us and saw that another large party had a golden retriever with them. Side story aside, the host was great and let us order even though they were close to closing. We sat in the patio outside, which was nice initially but got chilly towards the end, around 10/11. We ordered a round of drinks -- beers for the boys and the electric saint German cocktail for me. Oo it was so good with vodka, blueberries and a few other ingredients. For food, round of burgers with delicious fries for the guys - can attest as I stole some. I tried to be healthy and did the salmon plate. Food was surprisingly good! Especially for a random spot that we chose and for so late at night. The salmon came with various veggies - asparagus, multicolored carrots, peas and potatoes. Had friends in town for Father's Day on June 20, so decided to stop at Rocker after our hike for some celebratory dad drinks on the patio. Plenty of empty tables on the patio at 2:30 pm. We checked in and told them that there were seven people in our party. The guy said they did not have any tables outside, we would have to sit inside. we pointed toward the half-empty patio and enquired about the empty tables. He said that they cannot push 4- tops together. We said, ok, we will take a 4-top. The guy left again. He came back and said the patio is reserved for people ordering food. We said that we could order food if that would make a difference and allow the restaurant to seat us at one of the many empty tables outside. He left again and came back and said they would not allow 7 people to sit at a 4-top, only 5. We said ok, the kids will play on the lawn while we have a drink. He left again. Then the manager came over, a skinny small guy wearing business clothing. He repeated a bunch of things the guy before him said, including making sure we planned to order food, then sneered and said, "your kids cannot run around the patio and play, you know?" In a really obnoxious tone. As if this is freaking French Laundry and not an empty outdoor grill on off-hours! somehow after all of this we still sat down. Food and drink were fine, our kids were impeccably behaved, we got our ikon pass discount, spent $200 in about 45 minutes, and nobody ever sat down in the other 5 empty tables. However, probably will take friends to the river ranch next time. our friends left town thinking the attitude at Squaw was not family-friendly or even friendly, period. read more

We went to Rocker out at Squaw Valley last Saturday night for dinner and I was completely impressed by the eclectic food, the delightful drinks, the extensive menu, and the ambience! I had an excellent vodka drink that included vodka that was infused with lavender! It was so good that it tasted like it didn't even have alcohol in it. Even after it clearly did! Because I did order an extra shot for my second drink and just poured it into the first glass because it was spectacular. Great wine list an excellent beer choices, as well. We orderordered the nachos with chicken added to them and it was enough for all four of us to share! They were really great nachos! There was even a little bit left over and I took it home and they even reheated well! We had the chicken guacamole and it came with very unique sides (corn cakes, guacamole, and jicama slaw) that were all wonderful. Even the more picky eaters at our table thought they were really great. We sat out on the patio so that we could bring our pup with us and they were very dog friendly. The service was incredible! Our server answered all of our questions with great knowledge and he made excellent suggestions, as well. Rockers a nice place to go for a bite, but it's often really crowded. The food is alright - not bad, not amazing, and pricey. If you're going with a large group, I highly recommend the nachos. That dish is HUGE. We shared the dish between a group of 10 and still had leftovers. It's about 27$ and comes loaded with meat, cheese, salsa, and guac. I also tried their Rocker burger with mushrooms. Pretty good, but the Irish pub makes it wayyy better for a cheaper price. The kids burger is not worth it unless you're actually a kid and can't tell the difference between meat quality. The quality of meat in a kids burger can be compared to microwave, cafeteria burger/sliders. It is literally just a slice of cheese and dry hamburger meat. read more

I ordered a shot of Bullet and the dope, most awesome bartender "over poured" and I took two shots... #love My partner arrived about that time to the bar, ordered a beer and we grabbed menus and chose a table on the patio. The weather was so beautifully peculiar today--about 70 degrees, but snow everywhere on the mountain, power, not crap--with the sun was shinning on our faces. #patiolove We made selections from the menu, ordered another drink and relaxed after our massive #snowday. Him: Baked ricotta Lamb Kafta burger and salad Me: Nachos The ricotta was pretty amazing. It was served with beets and warm pita. I did not try the lamb myself, but I heard it was pretty yummy. The nachos came out last and they were easily the most overwhelming nachos I have ever seen... HUGE! And the guacamole was so delicious. The good service and attitudes were present through our entire experience from the server as well! I got a beer from their big tap list and my friends each got a yummy cocktail.
