Tahoe dessert
Caitlin T.

Hidden Tahoe gem and an absolute must-try. This was my birthday dinner, and it ended up being the best meal I've had in decades. Fancy without being pretentious, with impeccable service and truly great cocktails to set the tone. The Asian sampler appetizer is unforgettable and a must-order. Don't skip the smoked trout starter either. We shared the surf & turf, and it was completely divine. They've been in business for 47 years, and it shows in every detail. No social media hype, no advertising; they don't need it. After nearly five decades, they know exactly what they're doing. Five stars, no question.

Wolfdales knocked my socks off. Amazing meal, service was fantastic. No notes. Will be dining again.

We loved our dinner at Wolfdale's. Both the food and service is excellent and the ambiance is very traditional Tahoe but elevated. We ordered the ahi tuna cones and smoked trout to start, and the scallops, lamb chops, thai seafood stew and short rib for entrees. Everything was delicious. It's hard to pick a favorite, but if I went back I'd probably order the ahi tune cones, scallop or lamb again. The cocktails are excellent too. We had the Paper Plane and Blue Jay. We'll definitely be back!

White tablecloth dining in Lake Tahoe. That's the first thing you need to know. It's quality. It's quiet. It's appropriately slow. Wolfdale's is a solid spot to catch your breath and eat tasty well-prepared dishes from New American cuisine. For the LA or SF expats, this will remind you of home. It's not a cheap Tahoe spot, so plan accordingly, but you'll eat well and be satisfied and the bill will look familiar. I recommend Wolfdale for the night you want to step up your game. :-)

Thai Seafood Stew

I was very impressed with Wolfdale! My friends and I were celebrating a birthday with a large group of 11 people and the service was fantastic. We even got a free round of shots with dessert! It was the perfect setting for an elevated dinner with actual great food. Everything we ordered was impressive, and we particularly enjoyed the Asian fusion aspect of the dishes. We tried the Thai Seafood Stew, Surf & Turf, Beef Medallion, and Risotto. We also shared the Combo platter, which was excellent. Highly recommend for special occasions or a nice night out when you're in town!

Halibut

Old fashion decor. Had reservations; however, table was not ready when scheduled. Was offered bar seating when a table was ready. If I made reservations then I would want a table not the bar. slow service- sat at my table for a while before I was greeted. the sever assistance/busser took forever to offer water. Waited more for the actual server. (He was friendly and apologetic for wait) Placed an order for drink and a teaser. Teaser came out within two minutes - I'm sure I know why: Smoked trout with bones, definitely had been sitting out all day Entree: halibut - sauce had flavor, fish had none. Was supposed to have rice included in dish, barely noticeable Noticed other customers questioning food wait time. mediocre food with high prices.

Smoked trout dip!

Food was really well put together with good flavors. Loved it all. Service was a lil weird. But you could tell they were doing good. We got there when they opened and then it got packed. The ambiance was nice. Cute lil view. Nice date night.

Food is fantastic with asian flare. Excellent apps and seafood items. Nice wine list. I hear they have outdoor seating in the summer.

From start to finish, it was an outstanding epicurean delight…read more Our group of five fierce women completely and absolutely enjoyed every moment and every bite of the beautifully presented dishes. The portions were generous with plenty of leftovers to pack up in takeout boxes for enjoying for another day. My favorite three were the ahi tuna, the black cod and the brilliant asian/french mash up of red Bean Creme Brulee. I also need to mention, I loved the lamb tenderloin. I am not a big lamb fan, but this New Zealand lamb was tender and non-gamey. The owners did an outstanding job of timing the dishes and engaging with our group while also taking care of other diners including non event patrons getting getting take-out and inhouse menu dining. The space is very small, but even with and almost full house, it didn't feel cramped. Even though Kwok's is right across the street from where I live, this restaurant would be at the top of my list of "I would drive out of my way to eat here"

I try to never miss a Chinese New Year or Fall Harvest Moon dinner here…read more They never disappoint. Both require a reservation made at least a month in advance, they are always a sell out. To start, you can't go wrong with the enthusiastic welcome we always receive. Then quickly seated and wine poured. The 2026 CNY menu was fabulous, with some great surprises. The ahi tartare portion anywhere else would have been a shareable appetizer. But each person was served a large portion of delicious fresh ahi. Mmmm this course and a glass of wine could be dinner alone any other evening. The soft creamy rich egg custard was hidden under a thick seafood gravy. I really enjoyed this unique dish. The miso black cod is always flaky and delicious. And the crab fried rice it's nestled on also never disappoints. The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente. The dinner wrapped up with a crème brûlée that only Kwok's could pull off - red bean. Creamy smooth. Not overwhelming. The perfect burnt sugar layer on top. The regular menu is just as delicious. Small inside seating area, so recommend always make a reservation. In the summer there's a fabulous patio area out front. Limited street parking.

I adore thai food, so decided to try the remaining thai spot we hadn't gone to yet. I had no idea it was in Kung Pao Hustle. (We didn't care for that spot.) But the pickup transaction was nice and friendly. They even gave us a local discount of $4.80 which was much appreciated. We actually wanted to order 2-3 other things not listed above. When we called, we had looked at their website and picked a bunch of items from their Thai Specialty section. Unfortunately that section did not exists anymore which was a bummer. I adore super spicy, fishy, strong flavors all mixed together which that portion seemed to offer. I called to place the takeout order, so it was funny how the guy on the phone was like, "Are you looking at our website?!" I guess they hadn't updated it yet. The curry was a good amount. A little thinner than I would like, but if you like a milder curry, you might have enjoyed this. For me, it was waaay too mild for their top spice level. I actually found everything lacking in heat for their spiciest level. For the papaya salad, I wish they pounded / grinded everything together. The flavors didn't come together with just the mixing of the ingredients. It was better the next day tho. I do see they have a lao style papaya salad, so curiosity may have me trying this spot again. Decent thai food if you don't like super strong flavors. Tho this is probably my least fav thai spot out of the three we've been to in tahoe. Everything was just too mild for me. REVIEW #3933
