Just a short walk from the slopes with a warm ambiance to dry our gloves, We (4) got a table with no wait while it was 12:30 and there were wait times elsewhere. Score!! The menu was extensive and everything tasted fresh and made in house. Two of our crew landed on burgers cooked perfectly and juicy. While my wife and I shared Soup of the day (Butternut squash soup), Steamed buns with Pork Belly and Kimchi, Crispy seasoned fries, and the Buffalo Cauliflower. Love sitting at the bar at The Rocker and catching up on the games after a day on the slopes. The bartenders are attentive and always have a bangin playlist going. I didn't eat anything but friends ordered the smoked brisket hash, burger and fries, and nachos and had no complaints. A good stopping point if you are sick of the grub at KT base food hall and aren't feeling the chammy. Family friendly as well with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating around the perimeter. The food was good, but the service was terrible. Drinks took an hour to arrive, and both the appetizers and main course came out together which also took about an hour after ordering even though the place wasn't even busy. To make things worse, they added on a 20% charge on the bill. When we asked about it, the manager claimed it was a "village charge" (they're located in Palisades), which isn't true because other restaurants here don't do that. Then our server said it was because he mistakenly thought there were six of us, due to a backpack on a chair( their policy does state the 20% gratuity only applies to parties of six or more). This felt intentional and dishonest especially with the manager citing an obvious made up "village charge" because if that was an actual policy why did they correct the bill when they realized there were only 5 of us as opposed to them thinking there were 6 in our group. Be aware and pay attention if you choose to dine here, but it's not worth the poor service or being subjected to their attempt at scamming their customers. read more

Super busy sports bar. Drinks were standard, standing room only after skiing. We sat down at a massive table for like 12 people with permission from the only couple sitting at one end. After a few minutes we were told we weren't allowed to sit there even if the couple was okay with it because we ordered at the bar. Also, you can't get to go cups and can't go outside so we were forced to just awkwardly stand next to the host stand in the middle of everyone's way while we drank our cocktails even though the nice couple asked the host as well if we could sit at the table with them. The Rocker is one of a handful of restaurant-bars at Squaw Alpine. One of my friends found this location and we met up here. I ordered a cider on tap for $9. Three of us split the nachos for $20. The dish actually looks bigger than it really is. I think we could have ordered and finished two. One of my friends ordered the pork belly dish. I just took a small bite, but it was delicious! I really loved the smoky pork belly paired with the creamy, cheesy grits. THE VIBE I got a sports bar vibe here. There were a handful of screens around the space, and each had a different game on. The noise level was average. THE VERDICT The menu overall is pricey, but that's to be expected at any hot touristy spot in Tahoe. Cute place. I would come back. Given the location and the gorgeous summertime views, their whole open concept seating is perfect - especially if you're seating in the corner booth facing the outdoor area and the beautiful blue sky. I can't comment on the food, but the beer selection is decent. Prices are on the high side but, for a ski resort, pretty reasonable. The main feature here is the super-nice patio. (it also opens earlier than most other patios in the area) Just be warned: you can't just come over and scoop up a patio seat! You MUST talk to the host/hostess and get in line for the patio seating. We were in the patio but just sat on some rocks and drank beer. Way less hassle, and could still drink beer in the sun. read more

It's been 45 minutes and we still have no food. They waited almost 30 minutes to tell me they were out of the gnocchi. I ordered the fried chicken and asked for lettuce/salad and they gave me bread. STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! I rode my bike from Tahoe City to Palisades on Saturday with family, and ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower. I have a severe nut allergy and purposefully ordered this because the chicken sandwich had pesto on it which was stated on the menu. The menu did not state that the Buffalo Cauliflower had almond paste in it. Luckily there was a trail marathon going on with an ER doctor with an epi pen and Benadryl. Thank god because I was 25 minutes from the ER. I believe this restaurant is owned by Palisades At Tahoe which is frightening for a big resort that has thousands of kids with allergies visiting yearly. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT. I ordered the chicken guacamole on the first visit. The chicken was a tad over done but had great flavor. The jicama slaw carries quite a kick. The corn fritter cake did a nice job of cooling it back down. Where's the guacamole? I don't know if the chef forgot or if they ran out, but I would have liked to have known that upon ordering it. $9.18 for a glass of house Sauv Blanc is kind of steep. The house Chardonnay was $10.11. Both were decent wines but nothing to write home about. They handled our large bunch of groups well on a Thursday evening. Major props to the server that was so understanding about our receipt needs for business travel reimbursement. She really hustled the entire evening. I ordered the soba salad and enjoyed it. Probably won't come back--other spots in the area are better in terms of service honestly. Most everyone was at least.... not unpleasant, but the place was pretty empty on a Monday (it was us who came in without anyone else at first, a table of six or seven guys after work followed maybe 20 minutes after us, and another table of three later) and we were rushed the hell out of there. We came in the second quarter of the Steelers game and were looking for a spot to hang out and enjoy some drinks and food, but we were maybe halfway done with our food when the server brought the check. I was finishing my beer when everything else off the table was gone (and so was the signed receipt). It was... cold and off-putting. Sorry, I guess? I'm extra attentive to when I'm taking up space and tables need turning. I've worked in food service-- I know the drill and know better than to linger especially on those busy nights, but this wasn't one of them and I don't think we deserved that. It was probably the most awkward I've felt at a restaurant in a long while. Food was good and cooked really nicely, but wouldn't be worth it to sit through that experience again. Soooo talk about a perfect day, with a perfect ending. :D It was a beautiful day out, they are seating people outside. So we said what the heck. We were sat way faster than we anticipated, and they were so accommodating! My waitress brought a water bowl for my pup. :D The beer was ice cold and delicious! The French fries and the beer was my favorite part, SO GOOD. They are beer battered and fried to perfection! The burger was pretty good..cooked just like how I wanted it to be, it had some good flavor to it. I definitely recommend here! read more

Sat at the bar at the corner and watched the Niner game. I had a local beer and the salmon. It hasn't been snowing much so the area wasn't crazy busy. There were locals there and the casual bartenders definitely took care of them and were very familiar with them. The salmon was pretty damn good. The mix of vegetables, lentils, puree and the crispiness of the salmon skin were a great combo. I almost went back to get the entrée again during my week-long stay there but I didn't.
