It's your average cafe that is clean and spacious. There was only one employee working at the time who was nice, but I can't imagine what it would be like for him if 10 people walked in at the same time.I kept thinking this would be a great place to get some work done, and wondered why only 3-4 students from the high school were there. It seems like a spot they would go to after school(but maybe it's not a close enough walk). I was in a kale mood so I got the pesto veggie sandwich which was good, but I wish there was more pesto. For the price, I would rather go to millburn deli which has pretty much the same price and better sandwiches.There is always good street parking right in front of Rockn' Joe(at least after 3), and it was raining /more convenient for me to get to my meeting rather than go to the deli. I would come back to try something else the next time I'm in a rush or need somewhere quiet to work. read more

While the coffee is great, and the staff is friendly and competent, the cleanliness of the restroom really changed my opinion of this place. We were there early on a Sunday, and the restroom trash was full to overflowing and the sink was filthy, as was the paper towel dispenser, the walls and the floor. I like that this location is less crowded and more comfortable than the Cranford spot, but I don't feel good about a place that can't keep the restroom clean. read more

There's a reason this place is bumping on a Thursday afternoon. Excellent coffee. Stellar food and a comfortable, welcoming ambiance. I like to come here and chill with a book when I have to study or take a break from the rat race. Staff are friendly, not pushy. The veggie omelette was on point. Cheese melted to perfection. Rockn' Joe is probably my coffee place of choice in Millburn. Not a big fan of Starbucks unless it's the last option. I do like coffee mill roasters but there's the issue of the lack of seating... Therefore, Rockn Joe is the best place to be. They have a great selection of coffee, lattes, and even iced options. They have a huge beverage menu and on top of that, they have a pretty good breakfast menu as well. My boyfriend and I love coming here for the breakfast, however, my only issue is when I order avocado toast, they charge me the same as their specialty toastes (around $6.50) and when I ask for a scrambled egg on top they charge me on top of that too... When in theory, it's the same thing as their kale and egg toast which costs the same! (I can understand substituting the avocado for a surcharge of $1), but paying nearly $10 for avocado toast is ridiculous. Maybe going forward I will just get the regular toast... Despite that, we do like the breakfast option. Can be a tad pricey but about average for what you will find in Millburn. read more

Very nice place. This is our first time here and the food was very good. We had brunch here on a Sunday. The tunafish bacon melt sandwich on grain toast was very good. We also had a piece of the warm marble crumb cake which was delicious. The coffee is definitely as good as they advertise. They have all different styles of coffee, as well as different unique sandwiches. My only con was there was only two outside very small tables on a busy sidewalk with no awning outside, and we really enjoy cafe's with outside seating and room to maneuver. We would definitely stop by again if we were in the neighborhood. read more

Excellent coffee! My favorite is the Van Halen, but honestly any of their coffees are delicious and come beautifully made. Staff is friendly and they answer any questions with a smile. Friendly staff, and though the service is a tad slow, the drinks are made with care (my mocha had a pretty design in the foam) so I think it's worth the extra minute or two wait over going to Starbucks! Remembered our names, even after much time/many people followed us. Solicitous & easy-going. I'm a fan of the Van Halen (a vanilla-hazelniut espresso drink), which they'll happily make with sugar-free syrup. The baked goods look tasty, but seem very overpriced, so I've never indulged in any. A great local chain and alternative to Starbucks. There is a nice assortment of food and the place has personality. Staff has always been friendly and I have often stayed for hours while grading papers. I have had the chicken caesar salad which was of good quality. Dark roast coffee is also very good. Prices are very reasonable and I think they have live music on certain days. read more

In just a block or two you can find half a dozen coffee shops. For those of you that enjoy Starbucks I recommend trying Rockin Joes. They have a great selection of coffees. The Sledge Hammer is my Fav' Its bold and not bitter, they also have a nice cold brew coffee.
