I've been coming here for years. The food is good quality diner food. Staff is efficient and plentiful. The decor has been the same as long as I've. Even coming here - but it's clean. They have counter space, indoor dining and some tables outside in front on the sidewalk. The menu is full of options- none to extraordinary. I usually go for breakfast and always have the Migas ( no meat). It's delicious almost every time! I've tried some other breakfast dishes that have been ok. The meals are priced fairly. The drink prices are high in my opinion. A bottle of sparkling water is $4.50. Coffee is $3.50 a you get the point. But considering the neighborhood- it's about right. Rockridge Cafe is the cutest cafe that sits right in the heart of College Avenue. I've been there twice during COVID-19 now, once when there was outdoor seating and once got food to-go and it was amazing! Recommendations: for breakfast get the carnitas breakfast burrito and for lunch get the carnitas suprema sandwich + curly fries (pictured here). It's worth noting that carnitas is usually not my first choice, but after having their breakfast burrito I KNEW I had to come back and try it again for lunch and they did not disappoint. read more

Set in a sort of long room in a streetside storefront they offered a nice assortment of breakfast dishes. We thought the best was an egg scramble consisting of home fries, eggs, red and green peppers, and onions; comes in two sizes depending on your appetite. Many other items of interest. Rockridge Cafe will always hold a special place in my heart. An old friend came up to visit from San Diego. We weren't particularly close, but she chose to invite me out to brunch. We reconnected instantly and had a lovely catch-up conversation. This place is located near the Rockridge BART station as the name suggests. If I lived around here, I'd definitely be a regular. It has that old diner feeling. Our waitress was sweet and treated us like family. We felt relaxed like we were in someone's home, minus the fact that we needed to find street parking. In addition to several cups of coffee, I had a standard eggs benedict for breakfast. It was good and simple, the way eggs benedict should be for this occasion. None of that $20 fancy SF brunch business. There were so many other things on the menu that sounded tasty. Maybe this will be "our spot" for every catch-up session in the future. Last week, my friend suggested that we catch up over a good, hearty breakfast at Rockridge Cafe, which is within walking distance of Rockridge BART station. It was a fabulous choice, because it really felt like we were getting the full diner experience! From the moment we chose our seats to when we finally decided to leave, we felt welcomed and comfortable. They don't really rush you to order here, and they're happy to take all the questions you have. On the other end of the spectrum, the food and drinks come out really fast and are reasonably priced. The coffee and water refills are also frequent. She ordered an open-faced breakfast sandwich on a croissant, with a fruit-and-yogurt cup and iced tea. The sandwich didn't look the most appealing at first sight -- a few squares of melted cheese on one side, scrambled eggs on the other. No complaints there about taste, however. Everything was fresh and made to order. We'd heard good things about the ricotta pancakes, so I ordered the citrus zest ricotta pancake breakfast, which came with an egg of my choice (over medium) and breakfast sausage. Whatever they put in the citrus sauce is magical, honestly. The taste may have been enhanced by the small glass of orange juice I ordered, which was pulpless and opaque in color, making me wonder if they just get the bottled stuff or concentrate. Tasted totally fine, though. Unlike its breakfast counterparts across the Bay, we felt very full for a reasonable price. Came here on Sunday for brunch. The wait was so quick, less than 10. You put your name on the list and then wait against the railing. Staff are really friendly. It had a diner'ish cafe feel to it. Friend and I ordered the challah french toast..really light and not too thick. We also ordered the the CA omelet with bacon....ah so big and so good. It also came with a side of either toast or cranberry scone. I normally don't like scones, but this was not overly dense or hard..it was soft and and not too crumbly. Curt, uppity waitress brought out two very hard cooked eggs on a 5"x1/4" round of canned corned beef hash. When I mentioned that my $18.00 eggs on had looked half cooked, she smashed open onevegg and told me " this is how we cook medium eggs, and what you want is called over easy. This is a great place. Food is excellent, the coffee is hot and poured frequently. I have a California omlet most times and have enjoyed the migas as well. Orange juice and tomato/vegetable juice always tastes fresh. The staff are kind and efficient. It's a business that has my support. Some of you detracters would be better off eating your Raisen Bran at home and recognizing these food delivery companies are just capitalizing on your laziness. Went there for a quick bite on my way to an appointment as I have done in the past. Ordered half grilled cheese and a cup of chili. Got a mediocre but passable half grilled cheese and a cup of something I can only describe as black bean sludge. No beef, tomatoes or spice, at least that I could discern of. It was so bland, I even checked to see if it was in fact the chili and not some ill-conceived soup of the day. The wait person basic shrugged and said "yeah, that's the chili. I don't Know what you want me to do about it." Well for starters, why not "The soup of the day is x" would you like to try that instead.? While visiting friends in Oakland this last weekend, we had a great breakfast at the Rockridge Cafe. My Mother and Step Father also were visiting and on our last full day in town, we met them here for Breakfast, before they headed out to go shopping in San Francisco. This place was always a favorite of ours when we lived in Oakland and we were not disappointed this time. Our waitress was someone we recognized, which made our time there even more pleasant. My wife ordered Hot Tea and the Croissant French Toast. I asked for the Rockridge Corn Beef Hash breakfast, with a glass of Iced Tea.
