So, I'm a guy. I have very thick, long hair (about 12") that hadn't been cut in over two years. Until my visit with Ty, I had received a high-n-tight every other month for most of my adult life. I'd never realized how intimidating it could be when shopping for, essentially, one's first stylized haircut. Rockstar Industries Inc. is not a salon. It's an experience. The atmosphere is bright (with a tasteful hint of "trendy-chic") and the staff operates like a well-oiled, fashionably-eccentric machine. If your stylist feels someone else has more experience with your hair type, they'll snag the appropriate individual to work on you for a minute or two while they attend to some other need in the salon. Do not mistake this trading of hands as neglect: Ty is exceptionally good at communicating his intent, and he kept a very close eye on what was happening atop my crop. Plus, I appreciated his directness. I would rather hear, "I know this will look spectacular if I have so-and-so do this" versus, "I might be able to do something..." The cut started with a wash and a partial blowout, performed by Matte. Then the cut itself was performed by Ty, followed by Matte again who finished the blowout. Maybe it's just my inexperience with having long hair, but I could see how much these gentlemen love what they do. Ty is adept at cutting hair. To him it's not about ensuring every movement is technically perfect - it's about ensuring every millimeter of hair looks healthy, natural, and flawless. To my great surprise, this ended up being the shortest part of the visit. Before Rockstar, I had of course never had a "blowout" before. To us guys, this tends to sound more like an adult conversation topic than anything to do with hair. Matte was called over again to perform the rest of the procedure and we chatted for a few minutes while he operated the dryer and brush. When I looked in the mirror, I was floored. I'll admit I knew I had a decent head of hair - but I'd never felt the compulsion to just look at it and say, "woah." Matte had done a spectacular job of shaping my hair into an effortless (yet outstanding) look. Ty is not a wallflower. Be prepared for banter, laughs, and the occasional charged (but never heated) social debate. It's part of the experience, so dive in. Of course you could always just sit back, relax, and quietly enjoy the cut... ... But where's the fun in that? read more

As soon as you walk into Rockstar Industries Salon, that's what you're treated like--a rockstar. Accompanied by an uplifting mix of club music, Ty will spend as long as it takes talking with you about which color and cut are best for your face shape, coloring, and lifestyle. He saw my inner redhead under my outer blonde, and voila! Ninety minutes later I've got the perfect shade (russet undertones and honey warm highlights) to complement my fair skin and blue-green eyes. He trimmed my medium-long hair into subtle layers that added movement (and lifted my cheekbones) without sacrificing length. It could be said they leave the best for last. I've had blowouts done by "big names" in LA, NY, Milan, and Paris, and no one tops Mattie. He's a wiz at creating lush volume, glossy shine, and staying power. Two days after I've left the salon, strangers have asked if they can touch my shiny, bouncy hair. Hungry? One of the nice staff (or Ty himself) will run across the street and grab you a bit of nosh from Cucina Colore. The salon is conveniently located in Cherry Creek, next to lots of free parking and they stay open late so you can make an after-work appointment. I was in "hair hell", and heard about Rockstar Industries, namely a color specialist named "Gretchen" who does amazing work, through a friend. As a recent 2 time cancer survivor, the hair I have coming back in is out of control, and I had a pretty traumatic "first time" cut & color a couple months back that had left me VERY upset and back to wearing my "cranial prosthetic" aka WIG -Ugh...not very uplifting to a 31yr old trying to get her life back! Reserved, but open to anything by this point, I went to see Gretchen to see what kind of magic she could work. She kept me out of mirror's range during pretty much the whole process, and when she turned me around to unveil her masterpiece, I was speechless! For the first time since my diagnosis & recovery I felt like I could walk right out of that salon with my head held high! Holly the receptionist is wonderfully sweet, always helpful and a joy to schedule appointments with as well as check out with. Matty is a dream; he is knowledgeable about which products will work best with your hair type as well as taking the time to teach his techniques on how to get fabulous looking hair yourself! Ty, while having a big personality, allows his quality of work and knowledge to outshines everything! he takes the time to explain how each process works and what he feels would work best with your features, colors, lifestyle, and of course season! I have been going to Rockstar Industries salon for about 4 years. The salon offers a lively and stylish atmosphere while you are being attended to. I am particularly happy with Ty my stylist. Over the years I have got fed up with stylists not being able to repeat the same short hair cut. Ty, clearly has a memory and is able to create a great stylish short hair cut each month I visit him. I also have my hair bleached and colored to a fab grey tone that is consistent and is perfect with my skin tone. After 4 years I would not go anywhere else. Rockstar Industries clearly understands hair, color, face shapes and what works well for each individual. I am shocked by the number of occasions I have been sitting in the salon when a potential new customer comes in asks for help because they have had their hair fried at another salon. Rockstar Industries is a breath of fresh air when it comes to salons. They are not uptight and a blast to hang out with while you get your hair rocked out. My hair prior to Rockstar was dull, flat, and just plain boring. Ty (Owner/Stylist) took me into a completely new and HOT look. Just an FYI Ty is not for the faint of heart he takes you on a journey with your hair and believe me when I say it is a fun ride. As Ty says, "Evolution in Hair leads to Evolution in Life." I have never received more compliments on my hair from men and women alike. A must when coming to this salon is to have your hair blown out by Matte you will feel like a model walking the runway when he is through. I also highly recommend Kelly for tanning and waxing. For anyone who is skeptical about airbrush tanning, KELLY at Rockstar Industries will do more than take care of you. She is very sweet and her tan looks amazing. I have been going to Kelly for over a year now and have always been satisfied with her work. I was a tanaholic in the tanning beds and she turned me on to her fabulous airbrush tan. Her tan looks great! Not into tanning? No worries! Kelly also offers many other services. Some of the other services I am in love with include eyebrow waxing, eyebrow tinting, & microdermabrasion. My eyebrows have always looked on point and I receive many compliments on them. The micro is fantastic because it feels like you have a new set of skin! I highly recommend Kelly and Rockstar Industries to anyone new to town or looking for a new salon. They are all great!! read more

Kelly is amazing! Kelly was referred to me working in a salon and I totally see why! I am incredibly fair skinned and she makes me look tan without being orange. I was really scared to try it out for the first time because lets admit it, we've all seen girls that look more like oompa loompas than tan. No one wants to look like that! Well, I decided to try her out before a vacation a year back or so and it looked so natural people didn't even realized I was tanned before I showed them my tan lines! My own mother thought I had just been in the sun a lot! Not even kidding! Since then, she has been my go to girl for every vacation, my wedding, and I refer everyone I know to her. I've been to many salons nationally and recently had one of the best hair experiences with Ty, he took one look at me and just knew I needed a change. I've lived in Denver for over 10 years. Been around. I've been to this place a few times. My haircut was okay but not consistent from time to time. This place tries to be cutting edge with their decor, personalities. Everyone is always standing around and making rude comments about each other and the customers. The owner is usually there and he is the worst of the bunch. They are a lost cause if you want service and any professional demeanor so let's talk about the haircut. They are average if even that. So one day I asked to talk to the owner because I had lost my patience with this guy's childish behavior and he was the owner. He was the worst of the entire bunch leading the pack in providing poor service and poor quality haircut. read more

I went to this salon based on the positive reviews on this website. I came to realize that most of the 5-star reviews on this website come from employees and friends of the owner. While I believe friends can help you make your business successful, at some point the brand and service that is provided is all that matters. There is nothing that this salon offers in a unique or hip fashion that makes it stand apart from others. Instead they do not focus on the quality of each individual haircut. Consistency seems to be an issue here. I agree the attitude is a separate issue. But, when you are a total jerk and obnoxious and you can't stand behind a consistent quality service then your brand is nothing but noise. read more

Sick of my little girl haircut, I went to Ty with naught but hope and a dream for awesome hair. The man delivered. He's unafraid to shred your hair into the sexiest cut you've ever had, so leave your fear at the door. His assistant Matte gave me the most delightful shampoo and blow dry -- the man has magic hands. Ty's personality is as fierce as his haircuts, so those with delicate sensibilities should beware. Yes, this is an expensive haircut ($105), but I'm positive this cut will grow out beautifully, negating the need to visit over and over. Bang trims are free, as they should be, so take advantage of that. I don't think you could go wrong with any stylist in the salon. read more

I have moved around a lot so I have had a lot of hair dressers, and Austin is by far the best. I am a bit indecisive about what I want every time I come in, so I always ask him for his opinion and end up letting him do what he wants, and I have never been disappointed. He is fabulous with both cut and color. Not to mention, he is incredibly nice and fun to talk to. Rockstar Industries in general is great - everyone is super friendly and helpful (the atmosphere is a lot of fun.) Overall, no complaints at all. I've been going to rockstar for about two years & I'm so glad I found them!! This placed is packed with AMAZING talent! I go to Ty for cut/color, Matte for blowouts, and I have seen Austin work magic with cuts/color of various lengths. My husband also has his hair cut by Ty & will never go anywhere else. I've learned to carry around a few of their cards because I often get stopped and asked where I get my hair done. If you're terribly sensitive to certain topics or offend easily - probably not your place. But if you want to get a good laugh, have a great time and look amazing - this is definitely the place to be! read more

This salon is a joke! There are some good stylists, but the owner Ty is so foul mouthed and vulgar that no matter how good they are, I would never walk in that salon again. Just moved to Denver. Decided to go to Rockstar Industries and I'm so happy that I did. Super laid back, everyone is SO friendly. Austin cut about 10 inches off of my hair and I was soooo nervous but it's hands down the best haircut I've ever had. I showed him a picture and he did EXACTLY what I wanted. it looks great.
