I originally selected Rockstar landscaping because Robin was quick to reply to my quotation requests. I had several other landscaping companies not return my calls. Rockstars original quote was very high. Robin was willing to look for alternative materials to bring down the cost of a Windsor wall being built. The agreement was to build a wall four blocks high from the corner of the garage to a cinder block wall. The rock was to be chat in a color that matched the front yard. We were clear that we didn't want red rock and the rock was to match the front. Upon the receipt of the rock, immediately we noticed it didn't match. Robin chose a red color without notifying us of the change. We were not offered any compensation or corrective action. Basically we were stuck with it even though she knew we didn't like it. The company started moving the rock before cutting the trees or building the wall. The crew used and broke my wheel barrow without my permission. They didn't put it back after they were done. Robin said they were done when the wall was in a partial completed state, leaving extra blocks palletized. After telling them they didn't finish they eventually returned to complete the wall. Instead of cutting the bricks for a finished edge, they cut corners and turned the blocks. Also instead of digging out a path for the wall, the wall is only two bricks high in places. The cinder block wall stopped short of the garage again because they ran out of bricks. After bringing them out again, the man became verbally abusive to my wife. David Dades with Ready Landscaping was saying he was going to put a lien on my property and "you better pay her (Robin) or else". I told Robin he was not welcome back or I would call the police. It appears Rockstar just subcontracts the work to others. The complete lack of customer service is appalling. They even left their pallets and garbage on the property. Even after verbal agreements, they would lie and twist the matter to their benefit. We told them we were displeased with their work and they were unwilling to correct it to our liking. I eventually paid them seeing that conversations were going no where and all they wanted to do is demand payment. The picture below shows the rock they were to match versus what was selected. Terrible experience with Robin. She did not show up a handful of times and left us hanging and still tried to charge us for it. We had to deal with the HOA and weed situation because of her. She will always argue back and need to be right, so don't even try to argue with her. Her pride and ego makes it impossible for her to admit any mistakes, so do NOT even try to reason with her. Perfect example of how to not run a company presented here. My husband set up with them for yard cleanup/weeds, removal of a shrub and replacement of a section of sod that was dead and full of weeds. They said they needed 50% down but when he went online to pay, only available option was to pay 100%. They said we were first appointment of the day so we expected them early. They showed around 10:30. Not too big a deal. But then the work was being completed extremely slowly. This job should have been a couple hours total. Part of the reason I think wad due to the fact that they out there pulling weeds and sod up with bare hands, not even using gloves or tools....odd. 5pm rolls around and they have replaced the sod, trimmed one palm and pulled a few random weeds, that's it. They say they will be back first thing in morning to finish. Noon comes and they still aren't here so I call. The woman who answers is instantly nasty to me and by this point with everything going on I'm pretty irritated. I explain the situation and the fact that we already paid upfront. She tells me in a liar and I just want to be angry....what the.... So after arguing with her for a bit i say I don't think I want them back and would like a partial refund. They gave us 20% of what we paid back after completing about 30% of the work. We got someone else out here to finish the job for half the price and they did an amazing job. That was only a crew of two people also, one of which was of senior age and they got it done in less than 2 hours. That included replacing some of the sod that rock star put in since it was done poorly with no fresh dirt. Run far away from these people. Another thing. Our irrigation control panel was working prior to her coming in and adding the back yard sprinklers. After about a week everything started to die and we realized the panel wasn't functioning. She was the one who came in to set it up and never notified us that it either wasn't working properly or that she broke it. BEWARE! THEY BELIEVE THEY DID NOTHING WRONG YET THREE OF OUR HOMES HAVE ISSUES. Hired Rockstar to complete lawncare at three homes, one of which was desert landscaping so no grass present. The past two weeks our backyard was untouched without explanation. When I reached out, I was told, "I did backyard grass last week and it was not very tall....". No one asked or communicated until I reached out. We had company over for Easter and it looked unkempt, not to mention it measures 7inches tall as of today. When I reached out to the owner after the second week of neglect, I was told we needed to pick up dog droppings. I have three small dogs and it's expected that there's an occasional issue, however at no time was I told they simply wouldn't open the gate to mow the lawn if they saw brown. Additionally, I scheduled this work to be done on Mondays when I'm home. When I requested ownership make this right, after all we're paying for front and back and in each case, I've had to reach out to inquire why something wasn't done, I was told they couldn't access the backyard. THAT'S A FIRST! I AM HOME, our friend is home and the reason we scheduled this on Mondays is for this very reason. The backyard is unlocked! NO COMMUNICATION UNTIL I INQUIRED. Our second home was even worse because our tenant kept reaching out inquiring about the additional tree trimming we paid for. No one showed up when scheduled. I inquired as to the date. No one showed up again. I was then told they were delayed and would receive a small credit. Once the trees were trimmed, my tenant who I rarely speak with because there haven't been issues for years, reached out asking if they would finish the job. The tenant and the vendor spoke about the trees in question, which I have in writing, yet the work wasn't completed as discussed. The worst part was the gate to the yard was left wide open and the tenant's dog was let out. I contacted the owner of the company and she apologized, told me the employee was fired, etc. The next week, the backyard grass wasn't cut and again, I was told that the tenant needed to pick up the dog droppings. Ironically, the tenant was the one asking me for the date and approximate time of service when we contracted with this vendor. She wanted to make sure everything was picked up. When I told the owner we were unhappy, the excuse was that it would take a month to pick up all the dog droppings. I was told the back was trimmed and blown out yet the tenant was home, no car in the driveway like it typically is and she stated the landscaper was gone within five minutes, never went in the backyard. The third house...gate left open, weeds everywhere even though it's rock landscaping. The tenant of seven+ years contacted me furious that the gate was left open and his dogs could've run away. He sent me photos. I asked the owner to make things right and I was told they only allocate one hour to each home, she and a helper have both pulled weeds and the gate was not left open. In fact, I was told this was becoming ridiculous. THIS TENANT HASN'T SAID A WORD IN YEARS yet we change landscapers and he's upset. At no time did the vendor recommend services. At no time did they say they couldn't get into the yard (uh, it's unlocked!), until I said she needed to make things right because they didn't perform the work. I never asked for a full refund. Some work was done and payment was made. Three out of three homes had issues on multiple occasions and each was different yet one thing remains...the chances of three people who have no incentive to lie, don't have the same complaints and it certainly doesn't take email upon email to understand why a vendor wouldn't just do the job they stated they would do. 7.31.18 Ownership felt the need to discredit my review by placing blame on me when they were SUPPOSED to be the professionals. It's been difficult finding a contractor who shows up and does the basic work. Our expectations are so low that a heartbeat would suffice. Unfortunately, we've lost income from our tenants who are upset (2 of them) by the crappy work. Glad this is in the past and all we asked for was a small credit for work that wasn't completed. If you decide to use Rockstar, I would advise getting every detail of your project in writing so you don't have the same issues we had. Robin was initially very nice and willing to work with us, finding brick alternatives so as to meet our budget, which we thought was great, considering we didn't have a lot of money to spend for this project. On her first visit, we seemed to be on the same page as Robin with our desires and our vision for our backyard. She seemed to understand exactly what we wanted. The verbal agreement was that she was to build a 4-block high Windsor retaining wall from the existing concrete wall to a specified stopping point at the edge of the garage. We also wanted chat that matched our front yard pink rock to be laid in the entire backyard. We specifically stated that we did not want red. When the dump truck showed up to deliver the chat, it was RED! 2300 sq. ft. of red chat that we did not want. We contacted Robin immediately. She said it was the closest match but did not ask our opinion before purchasing it and assured us that in time, it would fade to match the pink rock in the front. We were not happy with it and she didn't offer to correct it. So we're stuck with it. The Windsor wall was built by David Dades of Ready Landscaping and Sprinkler (I'm assuming as a subcontractor?). When it was "finished", it was not built to the concrete wall or to the edge of the garage. When we spoke to Robin about it, she was eager to make it right. Great! They came the next day to fix it. She told us it was done and when we looked at it, it still was not right. One side didn't extend to the point we agreed upon. The other side was only 2 blocks high. She measured for more bricks, bought more bricks and David came immediately to put the new bricks in place. When he was finished, still not right. The wall was 4-blocks high in some spots and only 2 high on the ends. We do have a large mesquite tree and the said they weren't able to dig down to stack the blocks 4 high or they would have to cut our tree roots. I understand that. On the other end, however, the blocks could have and should have been stacked 4 high to match the rest of the wall. Instead it is 2 high and looks terrible. It was improperly built and when I expressed my displeasure of it, David Dades got very angry, raised his voice, told me the wall is built right and that I "better pay her (Robin)". I told them I wanted my husband to see the work and that they would be paid later that day. He was incredibly rude and threatened to put a lien on my home if I didn't pay them immediately. I couldn't believe he was talking to me, the paying customer, in my own yard, in that manner. The way David spoke to me was appalling and uncalled for. The fact of the matter is, I'm the paying customer. If I'm not happy, you need to make it right, no matter how many times something has to be redone. Rockstar and Ready Landscaping have a lot to learn when it comes to customer service and satisfaction. On a positive note, Rockstar also installed 4 oleander bushes and hooked up the irrigation to them. Not a hard job. It was done satisfactorily. I read the mediocre reviews when I reached out and decided maybe it was just a couple bad experiences. I found out the hard way that they are definitely a small business struggling to do things professionally. Via the yelp app, I arranged and secured a date (a week out) to have some work done. Their initial response was quick and to the point. I sent pictures and they gave me a quote. The day they were to come out, I called to confirm as I didn't hear from them. I also sent a message. The only reply I received was via the yelp app although I requested she communicated via my phone directly. I waited to hear back and by afternoon still no one had arrived. When they finally called back I was still being patient as I understand "things happen" and this is when she let me know that now they couldn't come out for another 2 weeks. (I had already waited one week) and passed up on other landscapers. Again, I understand getting in over your head, but it doesn't make for great business when you start out cancelling and rescheduling. read more

I have been working on collecting quotes from 8 separate Landscapers to landscape my front and back yard. I had them each come meet at my house so I could explain my very specific instructions for what I wanted. Robin showed up to evaluate for the quote. We had only corresponded through email to this point. She requested I send her an email so she could send me a quote??!! All other landscapers showed up with a business card ready along with notepad for taking notes so they could get my directions and contact info and have a bid ready. 3 days later, I contacted Robin because I had not heard anything from this company, she blamed me because I had not sent her an email and they only work through Quickbooks??!!! My alarms went flying! When I responded that she already had my email and should have reached out to me, she responded that she no longer was interested in giving me a quote. If the customer service is this bad at the quote level, I would never consider this company for actually doing the work!! Just a horrible experience all around. Our landlord hired Rockstar Landscaping after having problems with the previous landscapers leaving the gates open and their dogs getting out. On their first visit, we walked the yard with them, introduced the dogs, showed them trees that need trimming etc. It went downhill from there. They were supposed to have tree guys come out to do some trimming, which was delayed repeatedly, I guess they were behind and then the weather was bad, but they never communicated this to us or the landlord. I also make a point to clean up dog waste and make sure the dogs are inside when the landscaper come (I work from home, so it's pretty easy for me to do). I noticed that the back yard was getting minimal work done, and one of the visits, the worker walked up and down the side walkway, and that's all, maybe 10 seconds of work. When I mentioned this to our landlord, she was informed that the workers couldn't go in our back yard due to excessive dog waste, which Rockstar claims, looked like it hadn't been cleaned up in over a month, which is absolutely ridiculous. She had been in our backyard on the first visit and knows there was no dog waste. They also claim they only have an hour per house and there just isn't enough time to do the front and back yard. Our front yard is fairly small. Our past and current landscapers are able to do both front and back thoroughly in about 30 minutes. The nail in coffin, though, was the tree service. When they finally did come out, after about month of delays, they didn't even cut the trees where we showed them it needed, they cut trees that didn't need trimming, and they left our gate open, and our dog was running in the street. When we called them directly to find out who trimmed the trees, Robin told us they don't have tree guys!?! Who trimmed our trees then?? To summarize, just an amazing amount of lies to cover themselves, shift the blame to us, rather than their poor service, and an excuse for everything. Just bad service all around. read more
