Today I just discovered that it is the official position of the YMCA to allow MAGA and Rebel Flag gear to be worn by their guest despite all the violence/ racist signaling it sends to black/brown guest. (3 guest walked in with military boots and military fatigue pants. They didn't really work out but just walked around in the gear to taunt the guest. Stayed for 20mins then left) I also find it odd that knowing these symbols have been used when carrying out violence they disregard the dangers off allowing any of these type of symbols at a family place in which children have been entrusted to their facility as a safe space. When asked why they were allowing people to bring in any of these type of symbols to a family place with children I was told they are not offensive symbols. Needless to say I am disappointed a the lack of care they are showing for the safety of children and families. Very interesting to see this. read more

I like this YMCA as it is close to my house. The hours on the weekends are too short they close at 4p on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. I believe that is true of all YMCAs in OKC. The staff have been pleasant to me. The machines are usually in working order. The workout floor gets a little cramped at times. They have a pool, and offer water aerobics. The gym is great but you will deal with the worst membership front desk staff ever!! ! Rheanna Watson ( front desk lady) will offer you the worst customer service you'll ever see ! She will call the police on you and you kids just to scare you because she believes she have more rights than you. This unqualified young lady traumatized my kids for calling the police on us while we have all the rights to be at the gym like anybody else! She has no clue on how to read the policies on the board and how to treat members not the resolve an issue. She will raise her voice at you and will call you " stupid " just because she gets upset at you when you would want to talk to her supervisor... Management has never done anything to resolve the issue since she's still working there !!! I was faced with racial discrimination and she threatened my family just because she believes she has more power than me. Where are the YMCA values? What is she asking about my race ? Why did you employee Rheanna had to ask the members if I was Hispanic or not ? What's the point of relevance ? Why did she call the police on us while my kids had the right to be with me on the elliptical ? Why she didn't wan to call her supervisor on the speaker so I could talk to her ? It Was Thursday, March 31, 2019. YMCA put it to me after about eight years of paying $80 a month, which was too much anyway. I came in for a short workout and was immediately challenged by an employee who wonders around the exercise areas doing little except folding towels. He saw that I was wearing a therapy shoe on my left foot. It is a special sandal with a sole that does not bend. It is for bone breaks in the foot to keep the foot stabilized while healing. "You can't wear that thing in here. It's against the rules. You have to wear a shoe in here, not that thing," the Towelfolder said, pointing to it. "So, you will have to leave," he insisted. This was the craziest thing I've ever encountered, from a reasonable person, anyway. I've been paying all of this money for our Y membership and for about five years going to this location. "I have a broken toe, the "pinky" toe. And I'm stuck with wearing this thing for three more weeks for the bone to heal." I told the Towelfolder. "It doesn't matter, shoes are required, so you have to leave," he insisted. I said that this was a bunch of B.S. and this got him riled up. I continued on the leg-extension machine I was on. Towelfolder left the area and went to the entry area. I knew that something was up. Soon, I could see up there that he was talking to a woman. She came straight to me. She is lower-level management, I presumed. She had a lecture for me about shoes that is so nonsensical for my situation that none of it is worth writing about. I at this point I was fed up. It was time to cancel this membership. On my way out, a man with a tie on and sporting a red beard and trying to look managerial, attempted to corner me for a discussion "about the issues," he told me. I did not know this guy's face, and I've been going to this location for about four years. He obviously had no idea that I was finished with the YMCA forever. He got up close to me, in my face, that is.... He was red hot with pre-judgement, I knew at once. But I had no intention to do anything but keep my legs moving and go home and do what ever necessary to cancel this membership, which was a dreadful amount to pay to use D- facilities. I was able to get out and escape the red beard by walking fast and exiting the building. The memberships has been canceled. We will find another exercise facility. Mel read more

I been going to this location for twelve plus years. Some of the staff aren't friendly , will approach and not greet you. Also some of the equipments are not in working condition the place to insert your headphones doesn't work. I have been fortunate to be there when the guys are working on the machine sometimes they are repaired, it's depends on the location.The staff always seem to be to busy for you. The don't want to be bother. Hopefully it will get better sooner than later. read more

Great YMCA! I'm a stay at home mom so been trying all different Y in the area because I have the time too! This one is newer but not nearly as new as Mitch park in Edmond of course but it also isn't ancient like some of them feel. If you like dance, there is an amazing dance cardio class on sundays. Very upbeat! Workers are very welcoming always greet you when you enter and leave. Showers and locker area were super clean and spacious. Wish they had chairs or something near the mirrors in the getting ready area would be helpful. Next time will try out the child care to try and get the complete feel of this Y! read more

We dig this little @ymcaokc - it definitely has more of a community feel than a Gold's or another for-profit club. Little kids running around between basketball practice, lots of seniors and teens - it just feels more like being a part of something than the alternatives. They have a pool, featuring aquatics programs for kids, teens and adults, including lots of water aerobics classes which I love. There are lots of group classes, though I was sad to see they don't offer kickboxing. Of course, I can take that Downtown if I need to, and I can, thanks to my membership working anywhere in the metro. Zumba folks will really like this place! They have machines, free weights and personal trainers, as well as cardio machines and TVs. I do think there are probably a smaller number of cardio machines than you might expect, especially if you've come from somewhere like Planet Fitness. But, there are enough other things to do, unless you have to come at the absolute busiest time, I think you can probably find a cardio machine, even if it's not an elliptical (there are only a few). To me, between the friendly, upbeat, community-driven environment, this may be a gym I actually do not dread going to. Maybe... read more

I would appreciate it if the gym would clean the grounds in the front and side. It's embarrassing to walk through the grass or parking lot and see all of the rubbish. Our dues aren't cheap so please reinvest and hire someone to clean the outside. read more

From the excellent child watch to the HUGE gym floor, this is the gym of choice for my family. There is a lap pool, basketball courts and fitness classes. All that and organized sports for the kids that teach teamwork and respect! Keep in mind that the Y is a non-profit that has given so much to the community that other gyms have not. Was traveling for work, and found this gym. I try to stay close to a Y due to the my Y program. If you have a membership at another Y, it allows you to use another facility if you're traveling. This facility was great. I was able to use it 3 times, and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Very clean and modern gym with plenty of workout equipment to choose from. Will definitely make a point to stay close by and come back if in the area again! read more

They have terrible hours and close at the most random hours. They change their hours constantly and never let anyone know. They close in the middle of the day. I REALLY like this YMCA. It is as nice as a gold's gym, or other private establishment. They have a huge gym floor with machines and free weights, plenty of space on the basketball court, a lap pool, child care, and lots of classes.So much more than you would expect from a non profit. My favorite is their classes. They have a nice large room for this, with a stereo system and mic for the instructor. You'd be amazed what a difference this makes in classes, especially if you don't know what you're doing. The variety is really good, and all of the equipment and towels are included. They also have space for you to put your belongings within the room so you don't leave them in your car. The instructors are very good, and always seem to do the exercises with you, which I find impressive. My only complaint is that there seem to be a lot of kids running around. I'm not sure why, since they have child care, but perhaps alot of people aren't on the family plan and just let their kids play in the lobby area while they work out. The area is nice with some chairs a tv an table tennis, but I wouldn't exactly call it kid friendly. read more

Would appreciate if the Y could address deadlifting practices as there is not anything posted in this YMCA. Love the newest YMCA location. Terrifically large gym area with multiple treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bicycles, weight machines, and a large free weight area. Fantastic selection of group classes with multiple time slots. Swimming pool is on the smallish side, but good for group lessons and laps. Nice large basketball court. Ah the local Y. This is the first and last YMCA i will join. We're on the family plan which is $60 a month with little return on investment. Yes they have day care, a pool, and indoor basketball courts but that's were the similarities to other workout facilities end. At any given moment you can see kids running in and out of the weight room bouncing basketballs and acting like complete goons. There is also your occasional X-fitter that needs to use all the equipment using incorrect form, and then there are the old folks that come in. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that they are in there trying to better themselves. What I don't appreciate is them jumping in on the same machine without so much as a "Mind if I work it", thrown in there. There's got to be a little give and take here folks! I will say this, the facility is clean, all the machines work, and they take care of repairs right away which is great. No one likes to come workout to be met with a row of treadmills that are out of repair. I give the Y three stars because of the hours. Seems to me like they should ask for more volunteers and keep regular hours like other gyms. Cheers! read more

This is such a clean and classy place to get your workout on! YMCA's are so hit-or-miss, but this one is definitely a hit! Right when you walk in, you notice how light and bright and airy it seems. It is not too crowded and there is a laid-back and upkept feel. The workout studio room is huge with lots of mirrors. So far, I have seen they have zumba or dance fitness 4 days a week, so that is pretty great. I've tried the classes twice and both times came out with a sweat and feeling muy challenged, so I loved that! I love when you can go to a class and pretend you are actually in a dance class and have to keep up. The workout area is great as well and feels spacious. The actual YMCA is tucked away along a curving road behind a car dealership and some other businesses, but you will find it if you just follow Glade Ave. Oh, and the two dance/zumba teachers I met were incredibly friendly and nice. There is a really welcoming vibe here. And parking is great. read more

Rockwell Plaza is always very clean and the staff is friendly. They remember you every time you come and I get a lot out of the classes. The instructors push me to meet my fitness goals. They want the best for all the other people taking the class. I take regular Zumba, Strong By Zumba, Hip Hop, and Les Mills new class CX WORX and love it. Have been doing swimming lessons here. While I've been happy with the swimming lessons tonight I was very disappointed in the ymca. There are not very many family restrooms there and there was a very long line of kids changing clothes, going to the bathroom etc in the family area. My 3 yr old had to pee very bad so I asked where other bathrooms were so that he could go. An employee named Charity informed me that no other bathrooms were available and he also was not allowed to use the ones in the woman's locker room since he's not 18. Wait what? Come on now he's 3. I took him anyways because what else was I gonna do. Next time I'll tell that lady that he'll pee in the pool instead read more
