Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is located in Brier Creek, not too far from the movie theater. There was enough parking the day of my visit that I easily snagged a spot. The store is on the smaller side but has two cases of chocolates and a large variety of apples near the front of the store. I was there for a Yelp event and received a free caramel apple and truffle of my choice. I went with the butterfinger caramel apple and a caramel truffle. So that was a generous offer to expose us to the store. I was greeted when I arrived and shown where the QR code was to check in. Then I was given time to select my items and the other items I wanted to try. I left with a variety in my box. It was all packaged nicely. The prices were on the higher side for what you get. I've liked the items I bought better than the complimentary items. I found the caramel apple too sweet with the white substance used on it. I would have liked the Butterfinger pieces directly on the caramel. I'd stick to a caramel apple without the extra toppings. I was told that the store offers shipping if I wanted to ship any gifts. So it is nice to have another option for holiday gifts. read more

I visited this location for a Yelp event and picked up a few extra treats to enjoy because there's just so much chocolatey goodness in here that's hard to pass up. They have a massive selection of delectable looking and tasting caramel apples that they dip on site. They'll also cut them up for you to enjoy right away (there are a couple of seats inside the shop, plus several outside on the sidewalk). The shop is also full of chocolate-dipped things (Oreos, marshmallows, graham crackers, giant pretzels, nuts, toffee etc.) and chocolate truffles. They're on the pricier side (most treats were around $3-7), but the truffles are massive and the dipped goods look so much lovelier than what I could ever hope to make myself. We thoroughly enjoyed our quick visit to this little shop. The service was friendly and the shelves were full of goodies. An Elite event check in brought us in, and frankly, as a frequent Briar creek visitor, I've missed this shop - tucked b/w a cupcake place and beer hall. We sampled a candied apple, something one doesn't have very often and was delighted at the freshness of the apple and a chocolate that compliments - we had the sea salt caramel. An espresso truffle was next and we found this to be a bit of a disappointment. The coffee flavor wasn't apparent and the shell was super thick. If served at a party or event, they would be more work than expected to get into. Creamy chocolate and tempered well too. The Holiday Passport cards were on the counter. I took 3 & gave one to my daughter & 3rd for my grandson. I wanted to read up on it later. The cashier proceeds to take the cards out of my hand & say I can't use it. I never said I wanted to. I wanted to read up on it later on. It CLEARLY SAID December ANDDDD I had already paid for my stuff. Once I told her, she said oh yeah, okay. Turner way it was RUDE!!! I don't take kindly to people trying to snatch something out of my hand. Especially when I'm looking away. The card has several businesses in it not just theirs. This place was great! Visited for Valentine's Day, and the staff was super friendly and genuinely seemed happy to serve us despite the busy holiday. We bought several types of chocolates. The truffles are dense and very rich, and the cream filled chocolates are so flavorful! We also got a couple of chocolate covered strawberries, which the staff was working hard to restock all day with the special occasion. They are huge, juicy, and delicious! I've only ever been to a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory that was at an airport, so it's nice to visit a free standing store! This one is located in Brier Creek shopping center next to Gigi's cupcakes and opposite Men's Warehouse for a point of reference. If you can find the BBT Bank, it's in the free standing shopping building around the back of it. Parking is a breeze as I just parked right in front of the place. I picked up a small assortment of chocolates including a mint truffle, vanilla truffle, dark chocolate caramel square, and toffee chocolate square. All were delicious. No complaints and will return. It is a little pricey, but the quality is there, so it is worth it. read more

To start off the Sunday evening staff is fabulous!!! About the chocolate: we just happened in. This place, this place, this place. Please delete this if not allowed but this chocolate almost made us cry with joy. Better than Sees, Godiva, Ghirardelli and even the old favorite Fanny Farmer. Remember the Aztec? My husband got one white and one dark chocolate peanut butter bucket. They each weighed maybe 6 ounces? 8 ounces? A gazillion times better than any Reese's cup. I got a dark chocolate covered Graham cracker. My mouth swooned. (When we are these things we were all making obscene sounds ) My son got an Oreo cookie bark -white chocolate. He would not share his, even after we let him sample ours!!! When we are our chocolate at home we immediately started thinking of an excuse to go back up to brier creek and get more. One of the worst experiences in my life. Went around closing totally understand you want to lock up and head out, but were these two workers incredibly rude! Headed back cause there was a mistake with our order two seconds after we walked out. Not only did they lock the door, they made eye contact and then walked into the back? I don't know how you run a business, but this sure isn't it. I'm the same age as both of those workers but was there sure a difference in manners. As a recent Yelper just reviewed - I also got a rotten ($9) apple this past weekend and mine had mold growing in it. I reached out to customer service and was contacted by someone with the store who said they sometimes don't know which apples are fresh unless they cut into them but that they'd make sure I'd get a good one! LOL yeah, I don't think so. Just disgusting and awful especially if you're buying as a gift. Happy Birthday- here's a rotten apple! Aren't you required to date/rotate your inventory per the health code??? I have a feeling this store has MANY quality complaints. Thinking a call to the state health inspector are in order. Update: I was contacted by the same individual from the store who wanted to clarify that they do know which apples are fresh before cutting into them and she asked me to delete my comment. when I went to this store I was expecting mediocre chocolate and service, but it was the opposite. I went for my birthday and I ask the owner which kind of candy apple I should get, he let me pay for one and gave me the other one for free! The owner also was very nice and friendly. I had a pleasant conversation with him when I was there. I would definitely recommend to go to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I wish I'd read the Yelp reviews before visiting this place!! I've always wanted to check the place out because I live in Brier Creek. We finally went Tuesday night after dinner. The place was completely empty and now I know why! A young guy was working there and he was sitting on the counter when we walked in. I can see that it could be a boring job and that he had nothing else to do but when we walked in he did not greet us and would not get up to help us. I told him that we'd never been there before and asked him about their products and he very reluctantly got off of the counter to talk to us. Not a very welcoming customer service approach!! We picked out a few chocolates to take home and then sticker shock hit us at the register! We paid $18+ for four small items!! The items we received were delicious but not for that price. The guy also told us that the items we bought aren't even made there! Definitely not worth the highway robbery then. I want to love this place because the chocolates were good but a little bit of customer service goes a long way especially with astronomical prices. I went to get 2 red candy apples. I asked for one to be cut and one whole. When the employee was slicing one, she was struggling cutting which I later realized because the candy was not done or hardened but she still sold it to me. When I tried to bite it in car the entire soft candy stuck to the back of my teeth. After realizing, the candy wasn't done, I called the manager. She seemed unapologetic and mentioned the weather outside (which currently is 52 degrees) as if the outside temperature was a factor as to why the candy was not done. I went in to purchase apple for my staff for a Christmas party totaling 60 plus dollars these apple are for different people so I wanted them boxed separately which I have had done many times but today they want to charge me .50 per box ( which I've never been charged before) so they chose to lose 60.00 in sales over 3 dollars for boxes which they give away all the time. I asked the woman if they gave a military discount and they said yes. I went to check out and asked her if she had applied the discount she told me yes. She bagged up our stuff and handed us our receipt to see I then checked the receipt there was no discount applied. And then went back to the checkstand, waited in line and said excuse me ma'am the discount was not applied she double check the receipt as well as mine. I was amazed by the bait and switch they pulled on me. I called up and talked with a guy a week ago about picking up chocolate covered strawberries today which is the day before valentine's day and he said it would be either 25 or 30 bucks and he took my card but apparently didn't charge it. The he says he can take out a few so the price will go down but all I want is what I pay for and how much it would be. Bad enough the charge more because of valentine's but the whole experience sucked after that. I know they are in a expensive part of town but some of us are on a budget and still want to make their wife feel special. I came here tonight after dinner to have a couple of chocolate for a small celebration with my husband. The young boy working here was very friendly and polite. I didn't suffer the bad service as other reviews mentioned. They have a pretty wide selection of chocolate products. I'm sure you can find something you like! I ordered one sugar free milk chocolate truffle and two regular goumet truffles. To be frank, I like the sugar free one more than the regular ones. The regular ones are too sweet for me. I like a little bitterness from the chocolate. The sugar free one is less sweeter and does not have the after taste that many artificial sweeteners have. But I still prefer it with more cocoa. My husband had the raspberry chocolate cream which was also just ok according to him. We also purchased a chocolate bar to get the free bar for people serving oversee. Haven't tried it yet. But do not expect much. For all of these we purchased, it was just about $10 (after a 10% off discount). I have to say the price is very reasonable comparing to other chocolate stores. I have been to the RMCF 4 times now for apples and chocolate. The apples are not always fresh. ALWAYS let the costumer service rep cut it for you. I've had two rotten ones cut in front of me. Owner - how about not letting the apples sit there for so long???!!! This Saturday, two young men helped me choose a delicious apple (that was fresh). Try the apple pie and cheesecake. When I said that "Your sign on the shelf said $x - she scurried over to check" and then had the Gall to say "Oh the sign is wrong - see same size" as this other Item. When I said she had to sell at marked price, she said "no can correct what the machine says - You pay $Y" After continued instance she finally rang up a discount coupon code to bring the total just below what the shelves said. Since I was being completely ignored I contemplated walking out, but I decided I wanted to buy some chocolate. I acknowledge the sales girl with a friendly hello in which she responded kindly with her back turned. She completed what she was doing before addressing once again.
