Was a cool ride. Lasted a good 4-5 minutes. Slow parts when you are going up and fast parts when you are going down. Was fun with a group because you can see the party you are with in front of you and zooming by you if you're behind them. Had to negate a star because it was an hour and thirty minute line before we got on the ride. read more

We had such a great time on this ride. We came out to ride at night and while in line, we were able to see the fireworks at Dollywood. It was a party-like atmosphere with a lot of fun music and beach balls being tossed around. The ride attendant was friendly and funny and talked with us while we loaded up and got ready to ride. I'm afraid of heights, but the ride itself was great. It was smooth and quiet and it was really nice riding at night. When we return to Pigeon Forge, this is something we will do again. read more

Ride was great, but the whole reason I bought tickets online, so that we don't have to wait in line over an hour. We got there and we had to goto ticket window where they printed our tickets. First ticket counter they closed on us while multiple people waiting in line, so we had to goto second counter. Then we waited over an hour to get on the ride. Other places have separate line for people who buys tickets online, so people don't have to wait in line like others who buys tickets on site. I would like to complain this issue to upper management. If you're in the vicinity of Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, this is a must stop for anyone at any age if you're looking for high adrenaline excitement without breaking the bank. The day we went was quite cold, but there was still a nice crowd yet the line was moving quick without issue. The staff from the ticket seller to the management was extremely helpful and quite funny as there were jokes being thrown all around to make our experience even greater. Once you're on the sled, they'll show you how to control the speed in cause you wish to go slower; I can tell you that after your first ride, you'll want to return for another one at mach speed, but do hold on as this thing will pull a full G! What's also great about this coaster is that it's the longest one in East Tennessee and no doubt, it has 4 mountain climbs so your ride is really long and so well worth it. Be sure to smile to the camera when notified to...you can purchase your photos in the gift shop afterwards just like they do at the theme parks in Orlando. Sure I've seen other coaster rides in this area but after riding this one, I have no desire to ride the others as they don't compare to the length of track that this one offers. Awesome time here at Rocky Top Mountain Coaster. I first came here in January with friends & I had such a good time that I had to bring my daughter for spring break. Cost is $18 for ages 13 and up I believe. The ride is minutes long, a nice length. Definitely not too short. It was an easy fun experience for all ages to enjoy. They say it gets pretty lit at night, but I've only done it in the daytime. Highly recommend! read more

Mountain coaster action at it's finest like wow that was totally awesome and super crazy at the same time! For those who don't know what a mountain coaster is it's a coaster that's built by an individual into a mountain side so it's basically all DIY as the coaster itself was basically looks like this crazy sled as it's for a single rider or two smaller individuals the coaster car comes with it's own break basically you control your speed so if your crazy like I am you don't even use the break! They have a few lift hills on this track overall I think it was about a 10min trip which was badass as it was super fast with some tight turns and just a really fun layout that you can go at your own pace at! These are a great concept that can only really be found in this region of the country as it just hasn't really gone anywhere else yet but who knows as mountain coasters are on the rise and I for one am stoked to see this! Overall great fun for everyone so next time you see one of these awesome attractions by the side of the road just stop and try it you will be totally stoked you did! read more

5 stars....we stood in line down the street at the Akaneeta mountain-top adventure since the small-fry wanted to ride a coaster like we did in Park City, UT! But...you have to pay to get to the top THEN pay extra to ride the coaster....NOPE So we were led here through the help of the world-wide-web. Oh the happiness and joy brought to the face of my 9 year old... Fast as you want, pictures on the round-a-bout loop-de-loop and a safety braking system. No LINE happy helpful employees made for a fun adventure. $82 for 3 rides, 3 adults the 9yo (3-9) gets to ride with everyone for $10 (included in the $82 total) cost savings- they accept competitors coupons. The super happy 9 year old smiles and excitement was worth any amount in my book read more

My first experience on a mountain coaster, and it was a lot of fun. The line and wait was long, but the music they were playing helped pass the time and everyone was patiently moving along and enjoying the music. We came at night, which seems to be more fun. This is the longest mountain coaster in the area, taking you up four different times. I was told I could brake, but that I should not brake too much because it would slow the riders behind me down, so I never used the brake. I recommend doing it that way. read more

We absolutely LOVED it!! For many different reasons!! First, almost everything in this town takes height into account. Which we totally understand and appreciate being safe! The only problem for us, is I have 6 year old triplets and dad was not travelling with us! So... height matters for us, BECAUSE each child under a certain height must ride with an adult... one child, one adult per car. What I absolutely love and appreciate, is that Rocky Top GETS IT! We paid for each rider ONCE! Then we were allowed to ride swap! We had 4 children to 2 adults(my sister and I). So one adult would ride with one child while the other adult waited with the remaining children. They allowed our party to sit on a bench where they load riders. As soon as the riders made it down, we switched and they got the next group loaded immediately! The workers were soooo kind and understanding! They even gave our girls a popsicle while we waited! I wish I knew the names of all the young men working that night, because they all deserve the amazing recognition and I wish they could be rewarded for their kindness and hard work that night!! Waiting is hard for littles, but it didn't even feel like a wait! Our girls sang and danced while they waited and we just had the best fun! So much fun! We will absolutely be back! One thing I see many people complain about is how the ride is broken up.. I personally enjoyed how the ride was set up and feel like it made it longer and even more fun! They were 4 drops.. so prior to a drop, the ride must take you up, so that you can come down! Some people say they don't like this... but especially with young kids this was great for us! It gave us a chance to check in and see how the kids were. If they liked it, wanted to go faster or slower, etc. In all, we LOVED IT! And will definitely be back! Ooo!! And going at night is sooo fun and the lights make it even more beautiful! read more

We knew we wanted to go on a mountain coaster while we were visiting, but weren't sure which! We drove past Rocky Top on our way to Sevierville and it just looked like such fun! We stopped in before and after dinner! Definitely go in the afternoon to see the mountains from the top! Then plan to get the second ride in the dark! It's a whole new experience! Wow this place was F U N !!!!!! $18 a person, it's a little more than the other places, but this one was special...it had 4 areas going up and then fast sections down, most other coaster places only had one up and then a fast down stretch. This was a blast for the whole family! We opted to get a single ride ticket after it got dark so we could see the course with all the lights. The line was a little long to get on but there's music and TVs that help to pass the time. My three year old laughed through the entire ride and wanted to go again, and the preteen thought it was so cool that she got to ride by herself. Typical growing pains for a new biz. Crowd and cart handling is a work in progress and slower than the other two coasters we've ridden today. But definitely not a show stopper at all. That said ..... great ride! Several hills up and tunnels too. Really great. There are several stops or slowdowns for tunnels snd hills but its a long and very nice ride. Several places for speed and turns along the way! I love those. Couple great views too but things move pretty fast if you like that kinda thing .... we do! Probably my least favorite alpine coaster in Pigeon Forge. Prices were comparable to other coasters in the area, with a discount to ride a second time. They even had an all day pass, which other coasters didn't have. Glad we rode this one last, as compared to the other coasters, this one was just okay. If this is your first time riding an alpine coaster, I suggest riding this one first, though. Unlike the other two we rode, this one was essentially divided into 3-4 different sections were you went up an incline, descended, then came to a slow crawl until getting to the next section. I much preferred a single incline and then a straight descent as I feel it gives the ride more of a thrill. read more

So much fun! We liked it so much that we took advantage of the discounted second run. It is well themed and well lit at night. The staff were helpful and explained everything. They have an extra large chair in front for a cute family photo op. They also have a small gift shop and offer the option to purchase pictures from the ride which includes your rate of speed. You betcha! Would I go again IF I was limited and could only ride one mountain coaster in the area for some reason? First time on a mountain coaster and its FUN! The main difference to a roller coaster is that you can control the coaster yourself, choosing how fast you want to go. I thought I would block the people behind if I brake all the time which I did, but wasn't a concern at all. Nine minute roller coaster ride through wooded areas at up to 30 mph. There aren't any actual views of the mountains like I saw from the Skyland Ranch, coaster, but the ride is longer. The facility seems well-maintained and the restrooms were clean. The weight limit is 375 when it's dry and 330 during wet or snow. Anyone under 56 inches is required to ride in the front with someone taller in the back. read more

The staff here were more friendly than other mountain coasters in the area and more informative on how to operate. The ride itself was ok. Anytime you get speed you come to another uphill. But this one has interesting things to look at while going uphill, tunnels, and neat little up and downs. It's pretty smooth and does go fast. read more

As mountain coasters go this one was a blast. I have been on one in the European Alps and this is absolutely comparable to that. I enjoy that you get to ride up and then it is an up and down hills experience. We also returned for a haunted night ride which was amazing. The line was a bit slow which part of the reason for only 4 out of 5 The music played in the queue is a positive and a negative. The music creates a party vibe while you wait, but forget about holding a conversation. The difference between previous experiences and this one is the other contributing factor. read more
