A Grey Goose martini? "Sorry, we're out of Grey Goose." Since I am not drinking alcohol for medical reasons, I ordered a glass of iced tea. "Sorry, we're out of tea." A restaurant out of tea? Four short blocks from a still-open Publix, with enough tea stocked to get the restaurant through an evening? The shrimp cocktail ($22 for four large, not giant, shrimp) was rubbery and clearly from frozen, not fresh, shrimp, since two of mine were still icy. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant, all the reviews were great. Upon arriving the hostess was amazing, we had a party of 8 and they gave us a private room, which made the guest of honor feel very special. The service was fabulous and friendly. However the steak was underwhelming. I ordered the aged ribeye and the flavor was disappointing. One of the other members of the party said the filet was not tender. Probably THE worst steakhouse in the area. Service was slow and the food was bad-steaks horrible. We were celebrating with a few people for our friend's birthday on a Thursday night. There were maybe 3 or 4 couples in the restaurant. Our appetizers took forever to come out and the steaks were cooked horribly and grossly underweight. My steak was supposed to be an 8oz filet, medium rare. What came out was more like a 6oz rare and charred on the outside. We ordered three bottles of champagne, two seafood towers, numerous other appetizers and several steaks. I was sitting at the end and when I put my champagne glass down, did not realize that where was a gap underneath the tablecloth between the tables that were pushed together. So, not knowing that the surface was uneven, I put the glass down and it fell, breaking and spilling champagne all over the tablecloth and on my friend next to me. The service was slow and for the amount of people that were there, our food should have come out a lot faster. I understand that a lot has changed since Covid, but when a restaurant is charging for the upscale experience and food quality, that shouldn't be changed. It took so long to get our food, that by the time I cut into my steak and realized that it wasn't cooked, I decided I was better off taking it home and cooking it myself. I just had a horrible experience trying to book a rehearsal dinner party event for 35 - 40 guests at Rococo Steak. When I was considering Rococo Steak for my son's wedding rehearsal dinner, I was e-mailed a menu with event dinner pricing. The Rococo "Signature dinner" was $103 per person,. I figured that was reasonable for a nice 3 course dinner and that the cost would actually be closer to $150 per person with hors d'oeuvres and alcohol added. Thus, for 35 -40 people, I was prepared to spend $5,300 to $6,000 before gratuity. Once the event planner and General Manager of Rococo Steak knew that I wanted to have my event at their restaurant, I was told that the minimum spend would be $7,000. When I objected to this high minimum, the General Manager of the restaurant actually increased the minimum to $8,000 (making my dinner $200+ per person)!! Needless to say, I will not be having my event at Rococo Steak. I hope the company that owns Rococo Steak reads this review so they are aware of how this restaurant is being managed. read more

Hmmmm well I really feel like my expierence was more of a 3.5 rather than a 3 but that isn't an option. The service was good, some of our food was good. My friends steak , and my charcuterie and cheese was good but we had issues with our truffle fries and my salad. My salad was like maybe a half a cup in size, it was kind of ridiculous. 3.5 I'm rounding up because this place is better than Ruth Chris and some other higher end steakhouses & my seafood entree was 4 stars but my BF's steak was a 3 (according to him). First, what you care about, the food. I'm not a huge salmon fan but the other fish entrees sounded boring and I don't eat cows, pigs or chickens. I was surprised how much flavor there was in the salmon considering how strong the natural flavoring of salmon. It was marinated in miso and I thought for sure the taste of the fish would overpower the marinade, but the flavor of the marinade stood out! In a great way! Not overpowering, just a nice flavor boost to enhance and compliment the salmon. Highly recommend. My BF's steak was waaay undercooked and he despises sending food back but had to do so bc it was inedible as it was. It came back better, according to him, but still not what it should be for almost $50. Second, what you may care less about - the atmosphere. Who designed this nightmare filled with red chandelier nightmare? The exterior is so exquisite - like a grand historic home- it really is a shame that the interior designer bludgeoned the interior with the goth vibe. My husband and I visited Rococo Steak for our twelve year anniversary. Hey, we married young! The staff 's hospitability was the most enjoyable, memorable, and relaxing experience possible. I was even being super annoying on the phone when making the reservation to ensure that they were open on New Year 's Day and that we would have a booth hidden away in the corner. As other reviews have noted, make sure to not sit in the center of the room as you will definitely feel like you are on display. Rococo Steak is located in an amazing stand-alone, stately two story building in downtown St Petersburg with plenty of parking. The building is breathtaking and even more impactful inside. Like a true steakhouse, the lighting is perfectly dark and comfortable. So far, all of the other steakhouses I have been too in Tampa Bay are way too bright. The side dishes are to-die-for; authentically washboarded cream corn, perfectly toothsome mac and cheese, and crispy truffle fries. I could go on about the crème corn for hours, but I have not had that exact flavor since I was a child eating our farm grown corn prepared by my grandmother. Drinks were plentiful and creative. Now, I can see why there was such a crowd at the bar for daily happy hour. It is nice to find a place that has more "manly" drinks--- bacon filled, smoked, and savory flavors. Oh that seafood! Seafood should be noted as their specialty, along with desserts. As all of the seafood we tried was plump and freshly prepared. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the steaks here, which are of the highest quality. The steaks were thick cut, barely seasoned, and tough to chew. The steaks were even prepared medium, so I don't know what happened. I did not want to complain to the waiter, and was getting full anyway, so I just took the steak home and fixed it up to eat as leftovers later. For the price, I recommend going with the seafood instead. They were so kind to give us a complimentary dessert that had a chocolate note "Happy Anniversary" on it. Such an unexpected treat! But how was the steak here? Very excellent, I must say. I opted for the NY strip in an effort to compare to the Council Oak's now extinct 24 oz. strip, and I can honestly say the two are close. There was a little more char here at Rococo, and that tickled me fancy. Despite the char though, the steak was cooked perfectly throughout--medium. In fact, I may not have had a more perfectly executed medium in the past. They tend to lean medium rare or well done, so hats off to the chef. We had a party of 6 and shared 3 sides: mashed corn, mac n cheese and shrooms. As with many steakhouses, they were all decent, but not mind-blowing. My post meal sweet tooth was met by a delightfully crafted old fashioned and some peach bourbon bread pudding that was off the charts amazing. Everyone else went for that chocolate thing and were all saddened by my superior ordering skills. I need to re-up on meds because I feel a second visit coming on sooner than later. We're trying to find a steakhouse in St Pete but sadly we didn't have a good experience here. My partner ordered a prime ribeye medium rare. He took a few bites and told the server he thought it was overdone. She didn't offer to re-cook the steak, and said she hoped we liked the other items. Steak was cooked to perfection medium. with half lobster tail. I went with the Prime Ribeye‍the menu is À la cart so each item was separate. the prime Ribeye was $89(angus would have been ~ $65) half lobster was $16(whole would have been $32) The steak was cooked over a gas grill with a thin charred crust on the out side with a good light saltiness. I would say no additional seasoning (like salt and pepper) is required but i'm a sucker for the house steak sauce, tho i found i liked the steak without it. The lobster tail was cold but well cooked and the butter sauce was clear and delicious as well. I chose to pair it with a neat whisky($15 angles envy). the Atmosphere was nice(dimmed lighting with soft music playing in the background), I arrive late(10:15pm) and eat at the bar. Very nice experience but a little on the expensive side for one person($128.40 before tip) but honestly a 16 oz steak is plenty for two in my opinion! But again we'll worth it. My wife and I were in town for the weekend and came here for dinner. The ambiance was really nice and all of the staff was so friendly and nice. The waiter helped us plan the rest of our evening and recommended quite a few bars and restaurants to try. They also had a large number of premium wines and cocktails to try. If you love wines, definitely check it out! We ordered the duck appetizer and cowboy ribeye and my wife ordered the snapper entree. We also ordered a side of mushrooms per the waiters recommendation. The ribeye, yes traditionally is a fatty piece of meat, however it was overly fatty. No extra fat trimmed off and he said every bite was just eating fat. He didn't even finish it and that never happens. I ordered a lobster tail (you can add on top of steak but I wanted it lol) and they brought it on a separate plate for me, not to be considerate but because they had forgotten it. Which I will say, I don't know if it was an accident or on purpose but they did take it off the bill without any complaint from us so that was a really nice gesture! For my entree, in addition to the lobster tail, I ordered the carbonara pasta. I didn't care for it and also didn't finish it. It was a little undercooked and extremely salty! As for the staff and service I would give 5 stars because everyone was extremely nice and on top of everything! Unfortunately we just didn't like our food and for the price that was disappointing.
