Great job! Rodent Stop came back multiple times until they had eradicated all rodents and sealed every entrance point. My attic is a complex arrangement with access only through the ceiling for the area with most rodent activity. They cut a hole in the ceiling and sent a guy right in, found the largest nest, sealed all entry points and cleaned it all up. Rodent Stop was the third and last company I had called. When I noticed there was a rodent issue in my house, I called Rodents Stop. While they did address and fix the rodent problem, it did require them to come out a few times, which is inherent to the process because they have to come and inspect and remove any rodents that died. However, I had to contact them and make the follow up appointments. There is one issue I had with the company. They did not properly insulate the attic to code and I discovered this when my air conditioner was serviced and the technician told me. I called Rodents Stop to notify them and they did come and fix the insulation. Granted they fixed the problem, but it should have been done correctly and to code the first time, especially when that was what they were paid for. Had it not been for the technician I would have been completely oblivious to the fact that they did not insulate the attic properly. read more

I didn't end up hiring Rodents Stop, but I wanted to share with fellow potential customers why not. Rodents Stop was very responsive-- arrived the day after I called. They spent 40 minutes inspecting my 1907 creaky old house and then about an hour at my kitchen table discussing how badly infested it is--nests in the attic attracting rats from miles around, holes everywhere in the structure, my family's health at risk, I need to do this as soon as possible, etc. They asked me the house's square footage (2000 square feet), typed numbers into a calculator, and quoted me at $5200. An emailed estimate would arrive shortly, I was told. When the estimate arrived, there was not any information or itemization to explain how $5200 was arrived at--just a lump sum of $5200 to cover "Labor-Initial inspector, technicians, returning inspectors. Material-OSHA approved safety masks, coveralls, gloves, screening, drywall, stucco, concrete, access doors, vent covers, extra strength hazard bags,, Rodents Stop sanitizing solution™, preventative plastic, floor covering, traps, bait, LA County dump fees (hazardous waste)." When they followed up with an email asking if I had any questions, I wrote back expressing my concern that the invoice wasn't itemized---that there were no descriptions of service or quantities indicated as relates to cost--so I couldn't know how $5200 was arrived at and that made me uncomfortable. I asked if they charged a certain amount per square foot and, if so, how that relates to the work. I asked if it were possible to see how the $5200 breaks down and how that number was arrived at. That was December 6. Although Rodents Stop was quick to inspect and quick to email an estimate (and apparently quick to respond to negative Yelp reviews), they never responded with further explanation or detail. I got another estimate from a smaller outfit for $1200, and this week I'll get (hopefully) a mid-range estimate from my last bidder. Maybe it's an "if you have to ask the price then you're shopping in the wrong store" kind of service--by all appearances, Rodents Stop certainly seems like a Class A act, and their inspector was a gifted salesperson. But as a single female homeowner, I've learned to be skeptical of contractors, service providers and repair folks who aren't willing to really explain, when asked, how they arrive at their numbers. And I don't appreciate scare tactics to pressure me to spend money I don't have--the inspector strongly encouraged me to pull out my credit card or apply for their payment plan because of the urgency of the situation and because, should I wait, the infestation will intensify and the cost will only increase. In the end, I'm offering one star for responsiveness to a potential customer and another star for that exhaustive list of supplies at the ready--including (thank goodness) appropriate safety gear for their staff, *extra strength" hazard bags, all the building materials needed to plug holes in any kind of structure, and permits to dump rat corpses. But the lack of response to my request for more information is a big red light. read more

I had Rodent Stop rodent proof my home about two years ago, because of a problem in my garage where my disabled husband had physical therapy six days a week. Their team was here for at least six hours, inspecting the whole house and attic in addition to the garage. The problem we were having at the time was definitely solved. They came back a few weeks ago for a requested follow up, and they repaired the area in the garage that I thought might pose a potential problem. I think they are excellent, but I think that home inspections every couple of years should be initiated by them in order to ensure the lifetime warranty they give you. I found droppings (a lot) in the closet of our house. There was more "evidence" under the house and in an outdoor utility closet. Rodent stop came out set traps and sprayed repellent. We live in the foothills so i was expecting to have to have them come out for a repeat visit. Not so! I have not seen any rats or evidence of rats since they serviced the house. We are happy with Rodents Stop. Someone came within a few days to set traps in our attic and garage. He also sealed off all entry points into the house and crawl space. Because he could not get one of the skunks out of the crawl space, he set a trap for it. He came back a few days later, and, with the skunk too smart for the trap, he opened up the crawl space so that the skunk could escape. A few days later, someone came to check on the attic and the crawl space. No animals were under the house, so he resealed the crawl space. Someone came to our house every few days for the next three weeks to check up on things. With no further problem, Rodents Stop declared the problem over and has not been back since. I want to point out that, even though the problem is over for now, if we ever have rats again, Rodents Stop will send someone to take care of it, free of charge, as long as we live in this house. I am not sure, but I think that this guarantee is for the life of the house, even if someone else moves in.
