These mechanics who work here are too cool for words! My car has been registered as non-operative for two years. The DMV required smogging my car before registering my car for the year. I took my car to have it smogged here. The guy said, "You know what? How long has your car been non-op? Two years, eh? Well~due to the fact you disconnected the car battery from your car for two years, we're just going to hook it up to the diagnostic machine testing if the car is ready for smogging. If the car isn't ready for smogging, just drive your car for at least 100 miles. By the time you reach 100 miles, bring your car back, and your car should pass smog no problem." The guy tested my car. My car wasn't ready for passing smog, so I didn't pay for the diagnostic testing! I left the shop and drove my car for 100 miles as the mechanic advised me, brought my car to the shop, and my car passed smog no problem. The cost smogging my car was $39.00 because I had the shop's advertized magazine coupon. I received my smog certificate. I went to the DMV with my smog certificate, got my car off non-operative staus, and received my registration sticker for the year. AWESOME! So cool! read more

I asked Amy to look for a transmission leak or oil leak because of excessive smoke from under my 2004 Ford Explorer. They neglected to check but finally ran OBD2 and got a P1744 error. I asked them to service the transmission which is fluid and filter replacement. They failed to replace the filter. They charged $178 to diagnose and $126 to change the fluid. I now have to send the truck to another shop to replace the filter because the error could be caused by dirty filter or clogged valve port. To make it worse, they did not even show me the trans fluid and recommended a transmission replacement. read more

During the rainy season, my truck hydroplaned and I hit the center divider, which totally knocked my front end out of alignment, they fixed my truck for a very decent price. I have used these guys in the past and they were friendly and seemed to do good work. They recommended that I get my ball joints replaced. So I went there in November asking them to please do the ball joints as they recommended. The woman at reception, who had always been friendly and attentive, did not seem to be paying any attention to me that day. I don't know anything about cars, and $600 later I left assuming that they had done what I asked - the ball joints. I just went to get my oil changed somewhere else, and they said that I need new ball joints. So I called Rodeo Auto Tech and asked what the heck? They said no, they didn't do the ball joints. Instead, they did $600 of other work that I didn't even ask them to do, and I didn't understand was different than what I had asked them for. (Yes, I approved the work - but I THOUGHT I was approving what I had asked for.) So now I have to pay someone else to do what needed done in the first place, and I'm $600 poorer for work I didn't need to be done. read more

When I dropped in everyone greeted me with positivity, seemed like a very pleasant environment I totally trusted my car here. All and all, they saved me thousands. Hilltop Ford told me that I needed to replace my long block. For a 2011 Shelby GT500 that's at least 10,000 used and twenty five thousand new. Unlike Hilltop Ford, they went through the logical steps to determine the root cause of zero function. Sensor malfunction was a significant culprit. Unlike Hilltop Ford, they followed all steps described on YouTube to determine the condition of the long block. The engine was heavily flooded with fuel, partially caused by my poor gapping of the pricey NGK plugs. They drained the fuel oil mixture out and replaced the spark plugs with factory spec. plugs at factory spec gap. The long block Hilltop Ford said must be replaced sounds and behaves as expected. I am now planning to get a refund from Hilltop Ford because I was about to get a loan to replace an engine that did not need to be replaced. read more

I can't count the number of times these guys have saved my ass. After decades of being taken by auto mechanics, I had almost lost hope that there were any honest shops out there. Well, here they are! It may sound cheesy, but they really DO care. I don't know them personally. I am not friends of the family. I don't know a guy, who knows a guy. I'm just some schmuck off the street that they treat really, really well. For example, last week my fairly new Honda wouldn't start. I had to call AAA. They came out, my car magically started without any assistance, and I drove to work. Weird, right? So since I was leaving on a 3 hr drive in the morning, I thought I'd call Rodeo Autotech and just run it by them. I almost wasn't going to go in, but they were like, "just bring it in and let us take a look, no commitment." So alright, I brought it down, left it, get a call 2 hrs later, it's ready to be picked up! Turns out, the cables that attach to the battery weren't screwed on. You could just lift them right off of the terminal, so they had been moving around and disconnecting. Not only did they save my ass once again, they refused to charge me. Took my Subaru here for an oil change. Brought my own oil and filter from Subaru to be used. It was clearly noted on the work order to use the oil and filter that was provided. When it was time to pick up my car, I checked the engine and it was pretty dirty with oil drippings everywhere and the car is fairly new. On top of it they did not follow the work order that states to use the Subaru oil I've provided. Instead they used their own oil and it was WRONG. Even the cap says to use 0-20. Fortunately they decided to replace it with my oil but that took another 30mins away from work which was frustrating. read more

So I used to trust these folks, but never again... Car was returned with 50+PSI in front tires, no coolant (just water) in radiator (underfilled and overheating), AIT sensor unplugged, cut heater wire on the primary 02 sensor, loose oil pan plug leaking. Misdiagnosed a leaking axel boot as blown suspension and didn't clean up of fix the brakes that were wearing unevenly due to axle grease everywhere even after request was made. Left the rear main seal leaking after having the trans off twice and should have replaced the $5 part while available to access and request to fix oil leaks was made. Do not waste your money here! Pure incompetence! Hey but they approved my smog like this after a week. Not sure how they got it to pass, I've determined it needs a head gasket and will be doing that job myself. They refused that work even on a simple pushrod engine. So sad. read more

Woke up to a flat tire one morning while trying to leave home for work. I called AAA and although they arrived pretty fast, they didn't have the right tool to get to the spare tire under my car. Fortunately, they were able to put enough air in my tire to get my down the street to the nearest tire shop. They were able to get my spare tire out from under my car and swap it for the flat. I had my Dodge Ram towed here earlier this year for a "multi-cylinder misfire" code. This was after I had tried to fix it myself by throwing parts at it for a week. Had it towed here from a recommendation from Kim at California Sport Touring. Fearing the worst, I reluctantly came here (my experience with Dealer repair centers and a couple other shops usually involved getting bent over and raped). I left it there and awaited the bad news, when a couple days later(over the weekend), to my surprise, not only did they find the problem, they didn't overcharge me like the dealership would have. Will never go here again. Came to get Smog Check . Car is 2000 But runs fine only 127,000 miles. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Smog Inspector checks it .Go to front desk , lady tells me "sorry it didn't pass" because it's been "TAMPERED" with . Because I have a small tiny piece of black Tape on my vacuum line . . ????? The car is old lines aren't all the greatest shape but no engine light ..! So much for Visual inspection lol.. Had one flat tire that needed fixing so I called in and asked "how much is it going to cost me to get my flat tire fixed?" and I was quoted $25. So, I got my car towed to this shop and was told that I would be given my quote/receipt when I pick my vehicle up. It took them 7 hours to fix one flat tire and my total in the end was $165. $165!? to fix ONE FLAT TIRE when I was quoted $25. There are several mechanic shops within 5 miles range of this place that offer far better value with much faster services. read more
