We were celebrating with friends this past Sunday and wanted someplace off the beaten path - i.e., outside of the funk zone - and we found it in the Rodeo Room! It's small, yes, but it's the perfect place to enjoy a quiet night with friends. Fantastic menu of small bites and inventive cocktails, and the two bartenders on duty couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. We stopped in before dinner - and then again after dinner for round two! Good solid stiff drinks and a great vibe. Checked my email today and found a $5 off coupon for our next visit! Just want to thank rodeo room for sending us next door to the brewhouse. Our party of 3 came in to a half-empty room for dinner and drinks, & their lady bartender wouldn't seat us at either of their 2 available booths because "people might be coming later". She told us we were welcome to sit on the isolated benches out back or at the empty bar. We ended up next door where they actually seated us at a table! Shocking. Yeah, we were outta towners but occasional SB visitors while kid doing UCSB ... and they treated us fantastic with exuberant welcome, super fast service on food and commendable, unique cocktails ... on a Saturday night ... on commencement weekend!!Funny, we stumbled in after being told wingman next door only did takeout - but ended up with a memorable evening for our party of 5! Music was a bit above conversation volume but fit the overall vibe so no complaints, just awareness. I wanted to check out Rodeo Room since it was a new spot in town and their Instagram page looked interesting. My partner and I went here and unfortunately, not the experience I was expecting. Instagram page is very deceiving. We walked in. We were greeted right away. Sever told us to sit whenever we wanted but then when we picked a table he told us we couldn't sit there. If there are certain tables that are reserved, no problem. But just tell us where to sit instead of letting us pick a table and then telling us we couldn't sit there. Ok, we picked a different table. It was SO incredibly dark. We had to use our phone lights to look at the menu. The music was SO loud, we could barely hear each other. Menu is limited (food and drinks). We ended up leaving. Overall location is very small. 4 tables and a bar. Decor is trendy. I like the vibe they went for. They're just starting out so hopefully they will make some adjustments. I just don't see myself returning or recommending. read more

What a cool new spot on Montecito Street! We sat at the bar and met the owner and head bar-master. Given a complimentary cocktail shot ( strawberry tequila, I believe). Very tasty! We only had a drink but really enjoyed the atmosphere and welcoming feel. We do love sitting at the bar so hope to return, next time we'll order something to eat, as well! read more

So here's the thing. The drinks and food were great!! Our waitress seemed to judge my friends and I immediately because of our demographic. She seemed upset and annoyed with us. ‍ My friends and I all work in the service industry so we understand how it can be frustrating dealing with a bigger party. We will always tip well if the service is decent!! She basically abandoned our table and we had to find someone to ask for the bill. Also my card was charged $32 when I only spent $17 with tip. I have the receipt!!! So bad service and I had to call my credit card agency . I only got 2 happy hour drinks. Bummer I really liked this place otherwise:( read more

Just had a fabulous evening here with my mom and my aunt! My aunt lives right up the hill and recommended we go here for a drink and a bite while my mom is visiting. They only arrived a few minutes before I did but mentioned they were starving and parched, already halfway done with appetizers and wine, so they didn't have to wait at all!got to sneak in a few bites of their brussel sprouts and Mac n cheese, UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Our server Alice was so friendly and attentive, recommended the Thai Me Up cocktail for me and made it right in front of me. AMAZING!!!!!! It was like she read my mind. And the meatballs!!! Perfect flavor, great for the three of us to share. The final chapter, my aunt went home and mom and I decided to move to the bar to catch up. She is the Negroni queen, LOVED her barrel aged Negroni so much she had another! I had the cutlers cool beans, a refreshing take on an espresso martini. Loved it! Plus we got to watch the talented mixologists behind the bar have fun with the smoked cocktails. I loved this place. We went there the first night visiting Santa Barbara because we had a late flight and it was what was open. We went back because it was by far the best food we had in Santa Barbara. Tacos were amazing and drinks were good, but the peanut butter Chocolate torte is the best dessert I've had in my entire life. My friends and I were all excited to find out about the Rodeo Room and went there today for tapas and drinks. The atmosphere is great. The waitress was very accommodating and let us sit at a table that said "Reserved". When we asked, she said "it is reserved for you!". The atmosphere was very comfortable and cozy. Thank you interior designers for coming up with something that looks dark, moody, and very inviting, versus the very cold, industrialist, interrogating room bright lights we have encountered in the past 10 years. The cons: Since I was not able to get the attention of the bartender, I went behind the bar to ask him to please turn down the very loud music. It was nice but it was impossible to hear ourselves talk at our tables. Behind the bar, the sound was much softer, so it must have had something to do with where we were sitting (across from the bar in a booth). Bartender claimed he would turn the music down, but this never happened. As it was annoying not being able to hear each other, we finally left and went to the Fishhouse for more drinks and tapas, where the music is background and not the focal point of the venue. We had hamburgers, street tacos, wings, which were all great. One of our friends had the salmon tacos, which he claimed was awful, refrigerator cold, and he could not eat them. This place could be top notch if the bartender paid attention or cared as to what customers ask him. And perhaps change the salmon tacos for something more edible. Best! read more
