    Smash burger
    Emmy C.

Been wanting to try this place. The smashburger was really good, but the meat that went over the bun did not taste as good as the meat inside the bun. The sauce and flavors of the smash burger is good. I would rank this in top 3 smash burger places I've tried. I normally don't care for fries that come with burgers, but the fries that come with the smash burgers are really really good. I couldn't stop eating them. There are crispy on the outside yet had that softness in the inside. They were so addicting that I found myself not being able to resist them. I just wish they sold the fries on its own. The RR Korean wings were a little bit more Gingery than I'm used to. But I do like how they had only flats. The street tacos were good. They were wrapped in the tiny taco tortillas but they stuffed it really well. Generous amount of meat and veggies on it. The flavoring of the carnitas have an interesting taste. It was also juicy so I had no need to add sauce, but the sauce was also good and added another flavor. The churro was not bad, but I prefer Augie's pillowy churros. The cool as a cucumber drink was good and had a refreshing ness to it. If I was not driving I would have wanted to try some of their old fashions, because it sounds pretty delicious and if they did the zero proof drink while I'm pretty sure the old fashioned are also delicious as well. This place is probably a good place to have a date night. I tried to take pictures but it was a little bit too dark for my camera to capture the environment. But I definitely have to come back to try some of their old fashions.

Stopped by the Rodeo Room in Santa Barbara for a few cocktails and some gastro pub favorites. The wings were on point, the smash burger delivered, and the dark, cool vibe made for a great night out. Definitely worth a stop.

    Carnitas Tacos

Went here on a whim after we visited a friend nearby. Been seeing it on my radar and a few of our Yelp friends gave it rave reviews, so we finally tried it. Got there right as it opened, which incidentally was during happy hour. Original plan was to just get a round of drinks and some tacos (got a Classic Old Fashioned and carnitas tacos) but ended up getting two rounds of each instead because the food and drinks were so tasty. The Old Fashioned was basic but executed at a high level. The tacos just tasted sublime. 10/10 would recommend.

Rodeo Room never disappoints. Dark, moody, intimate... trendy music, great strong drinks. Best grilled cheese sandwiches I've had in awhile. Bartenders were friendly and attentive!

Stopped here on Halloween night before hitting State street. They sat us in their back patio which I had never seen, it was small but cute (& much better than all the loudness inside). I really like the drinks and bites here! Minus one star because we ordered the Saigon wings and to my unpleasant surprise there was ranch heavily drizzled on them. This was nowhere stated on the menu or else I wouldn't have ordered them. Believe it or not, not everyone likes ranch!!

Ube cocktail and happy hour tacos with carnitas

I came here for the first time about a week ago and had their Ube cocktail with their happy hour tacos. Honestly, everything was impressive. The drink was frothy yet quenching; I would definitely order again. I ordered the tacos with carnitas (but they did offer cauliflower as an alternative, which I appreciated) and they were actually very filling and had a good flavor. I also really enjoyed the vibe of this place, it was giving gothic rodeo. The service was on point and they checked in on us multiple times. Overall, a good place to grab a drink and snack during the week.

Good Morning Vietnam, Laid Back (I think?)
    Jenny H.

I absolutely LOVED my Good Morning Vietnam (viet coffee twist on an espresso martini) and we also later tried the Manila Ice which I also loved (the ube flavor came through just perfectly) Only docking one star because the music selection was a bit strange, transitioning from rock to Clairo to 2000s pop.... and felt a bit too loud if sitting inside. They do have a quieter outdoor seating area which is a bit small though!

The new bartender here is a misogynist. Ladies I would not recommend coming here. I saw that he made comments to coworkers about women and other employees were smiling and laughing. I would say the food is ok. The wings were not served hot. I will not be visiting this establishment ever again.

La Vie en Rose and The Abuelita

The place may be hard to find at night because there isn't a giant sign that says "Rodeo Bar." Look for the "Restaurant" sign and Rodeo Bar is next door. Speakeasy feels with a laidback dim-lit atmosphere. Cozy, small, intimate, and perfect for conversing. Seating: indoor, at the bar, and small outdoor patio. The Abuelita ($16): Resposado, mezcal, thyme, mole bitters. A different variation of the classic old fashioned. The mezcal provides a smokiness to the drink. It's a strong straight forward sipping drink. La Vie en Rose ($15): Vodka, coconut, rose, guava, lime, almond. Love this! There's a nice balance of the flavors and sweetness/tartness. Perfect for an after dinner drink - like a dessert. If you aren't careful you may order two of these (it's that good). The bartenders and service were friendly. They also have a small food menu, which unfortunately I didn't get to try. Overall I would come back if I'm ever in the area.

My friend and I have tried espresso martinis at 21 different restaurants/bars in Santa Barbara and rodeo room is my favorite. Also, I think about their chicken bites regularly.

This could be the dumbest restaurant concept of all time. It's literally the darkest restaurant I've ever been in. I love a dark restaurant, but I do like to see the people I'm with and the food I'm eating. I can't "see" myself ever going back.

The craft cocktails are so elevated they are in another stratosphere. They are complex and the garnishes even are next level. Yet, you must order food because what the kitchen produces matches the heights of the drinks. Best Brussels sprouts we've tasted in years; the steak is amazing and smash burger is so splittable!

Though always skeptical of such consensus, unconsciously I bought into this for years. One day, a favorite bartender from another establishment wound up here. I started popping in early, more than a little wary, cautious to plan for an early departure. But slowly I got to know the other staff. The absolute nicest bunch of people in Santa Barbara. People I never went out of my way to befriend, who picked me out as a regular, showed me respect I never asked for, treated me with the utmost kindness even though I never did much to deserve it. Wildcat has become a place where I'm comfortable walking in, even on a busy Friday or Saturday night; and know I'll be valued, respected, and protected, even by people I barely know. And also served the absolute coldest draft beer in the city except for Lure which closes at 10. This sounds like an ad but I swear it's the damn truth. Be prepared to wait in line. The line is part of the fun. These are your fellow patrons, after all. Your friends and neighbors. Enjoy it while it lasts.

As I was walking out, the woman at the door literally GRABBED my drink out of my hand. Ma'am... you can use your words. You can simply say, "You can't leave with your drink." There is absolutely no reason to grab someone or their drink. When I said, "Oh, really?" she responded with an incredibly rude "YES, REALLY." The attitude was completely unnecessary. I'm from Vegas, and walking around with your drink is extremely common in certain areas, so I genuinely wasn't aware of their policy. Maybe instead of acting like everyone should automatically know every bar's rules, a little basic communication would help. Overall: cheap-looking, weirdly childish atmosphere, ridiculous 2000s music, and an unnecessarily rude door experience. If you're looking for a very young, chaotic club with questionable music and a door staff member ready to confiscate your cocktail like it's evidence at a crime scene, have fun. For everyone else: save your money and go somewhere better.

Honestly... save your money…read more I dropped by this Jordanian restaurant /hookah lounge to chill for a bit, have a beer, and enjoy some hookah. It looked like a cool vibe from the outside, but the whole experience left me super disappointed. When I walked in, the place was empty--just the owner and two staff. No greeting, no welcome, just awkward silence while the owner stayed on the phone trying to fix what sounded like a billing issue. The staff didn't speak much English (which is fine), but there was no real effort to help or explain anything either. Eventually, I got a hookah and a beer--$48.50 for one hookah and one beer. Yeah... nearly $50. No food, no extras. That's wild. Then I was told I had to smoke outside on the back patio, which turned out to be a tiny little corner--maybe 6 by 10 feet--with uncomfortable chairs and a random wood bench. It took 15 minutes to even get the hookah (remember, no one else was there), and when it arrived, it was totally burnt. Overpacked, harsh hits, and I ended up having to scrape it and fix it myself just to get it to smoke right. Wanna know the kicker? You only get three coals. That's it. No refills unless you pay for more. No one checked on us for almost an hour, and when I finally asked for more coals, they said (in broken English and mostly Spanish) that that's all you get unless you pay extra. I've smoked hookah all over the place--three coals is nothing, especially when you're charging $35+. No one came around, no vibe, no music, no nothing. Just me, my burnt hookah, and a beer that wasn't even cold. I really tried to find something redeeming about this place, but nothing hit. The service wasn't there, the product wasn't good, and it honestly felt like I was bothering them just by being there. Bottom line: for $50, you can do way better just about anywhere else--or even at home. Hope they turn it around, but for now, I wouldn't recommend it.

But that's only because we order a lot of food, luckily there was a big side thing and I could put my stuff there and empty dishes! We had a cotton candy sunset so I couldn't have asked for a better spot, hostess was very sweet in accommodating us the best we could! I understand needing to sit two people at two tops and not at four tops. Service - our server, Aubrey(?), very sweet she looks like Sansa from GOT. Loved her sweet energy and helping us decide on what we wanted. She never rushed us and came to check on us a healthy amount! Other people came to refill waters and take dishes away. It was kind of funny because we would kind of whisper to each other like where's our hot sake or like we need some more water and it's like they had a microphone at our table and it would literally appear a second later hahaha that was awesome! Service was on point. Food - shishito peppers: so so good. That yuzu lemon flavor with the char .. amazing. I wish every shishito pepper was spicy but when you do find a spicy one, so tasty! Firecracker shrimp - bf and I appreciated the crispness, but idk why we thought it would be spicy haha it was good with both sauces! It's I think a spicy mayo and tamarind sauce. They put both on the side for you to try separately and then together. We both liked the sauces together! The shrimp was very crispy and we really loved that. Toro/seared salmon belly sushi - melt in your mouth, salmon wasn't fishy, can't complain! Crouching tiger roll - it was delicious and honestly loved how perfectly equal the pieces were.. I hate the "butts" but there were not butts! Crazy! Loved it but there was a slight need for lemon or something to cut the heaviness but other that very good Ribeye - delicious! Perfect amount to share between my bf and I, was a little more medium rare than medium but it was good for us to take home and cook a lil more! Overall amazing experience, great staff and delicious food!

When we arrived on a Tuesday evening, there were about seven patrons throughout the bar and the outdoor seating area with the live music drew us in. We were told to order at the bar, so while the rest of our party was seated, I stood there for five minutes before someone took my order. Totally fine, but no sorry for the wait or even smile or any warmth from the male bartender, who disappeared for a five minute break shortly after taking my order. The tables at the outdoor seating area were very sticky and since there were no employees in sight I (and the other patrons who arrived then) cleaned the tables ourselves. After waiting 10 minutes I went up to the bar and assumed since our drinks hadn't been delivered, I was supposed to pick them up, I was told don't worry, we'll bring them to you, and after another five minutes, our drinks arrived. The cocktails were decent, nothing revolutionary but I am spoiled in this department, well made but nothing to get excited about . After 30 minutes of enjoying the genuinely nice outdoor area we ordered another round, three shots took another 10+ minutes. When we realized we had to leave to make our reservation, we asked for a box for our untouched food, and we were told we don't have boxes. They ended up finding one for For us, but it appeared to be a pastry box from somewhere else. The female bartender who took over after the male clocked out, was much more personable, but not much more efficient. To their credit, this bar has an excellent selection of tequilas and Mezcal's, so if you're not in a rush and you enjoy those spirits it's definitely worth stopping by. The music was really great and was definitely the highlight of that bar.
