The Rodeway Inn has very basic accommodations, but the staff/owners were so gracious, generous, pleasant and helpful, I have to give them 5 stars. I needed a place to stay near a car rental place there, as my car had been wrecked the day before (I hit a deer). When the proprietors learned I didn't have a car, they offered to drive me more or less wherever I needed to go. They were warm and helpful - that's what you want when you're on the road! Thanks to the proprietors of the Rodeway Inn. They deserve all the plaques and medals they have up in the lobby! read more

If there was a no star that would be what i would click on. This place has such horrible communication. There room is very clean but if you have horrible guest service then the rooms don't matter how cheap they are. The owner told me to if it was possible to move downstairs and I told her I prefer to stay upstairs because I'm a female and she agreed. The next day she comes knocking at my door wanting to enter my room to talk while I wasn't probably dressed she tried a second time to enter and i didn't allow her. I was in complete shocked at her actions. Then she starts to say you need to switch rooms and then I proceeded to tell her you agreed last night that I could stay upstairs. She goes back on her word and starts to threatened to call the police! What! for what? Don't stay at here. Better to pay a little more and have great service then here. read more

Caveat: this is a budget place, no frills, but BUDGET Recently purchased by charming new owner/managers who are working hard to upgrade the place. Pros: friendly reception at 955 last night; immaculately clean, new mini fridge, mini Keurig, lots of storage, plenty of hot water, new floor and bathroom finishes, accessible power outlets and functioning A/C, grocery store within a short walking distance, very quiet all night. Breakfast: mini muffins, two kinds of cereal, coffee. Not-Pros (Cons is too strong a word): strange lighting fixture, on/off switch for the fan is in the corner behind a chair, furniture is tired (but all functional). Overall, exceeded expectations (which were low). For the money, definitely a deal. read more

Visited 7/26/2017 Not the greatest Rodeway Inn I've ever been to but any port in a storm. It is dog friendly and was easy to get a room. The room was fairly clean although The carpets were quite stained. Not real nice for $95 a night including the $15 pet fee. There is a small refrigerator and a microwave oven. Good enough for a quick night sleep but not much more. I would look elsewhere next time. read more

Looked so cute when driving by, highly disappointed. Breakfast was stated to be at 7 am. At 7:20 doors still locked, everything dark, no one around. I promise if you use priceline or one of the other booking sites you can get a MUCH nicer place for the same price. Lesson learned. read more

I stayed here one night on my way through town and was happy with my stay. It's an older motel, but clean and well maintained. There is a large parking lot and covered parking outside each room with a covered spot reserved for each room. The parking lot was clean, lots of blooming hanging baskets of flowers. The vending/ice machine/laundry was clean. The room was well maintained, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were SO soft! There was a microwave and fridge in the room (the fridge was larger than most hotel room fridges). The AC unit was a little noisy, but did its job. No carpet, there was vinyl flooring which I prefer. My only interaction with staff was when checking in. The gentleman was pleasant. It's near plenty of restaurants, a couple of grocery stores, etc. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. read more

Eh, not so great. The room reeked of cleaning chemicals when we arrived. I mean REEKED. We had to air out the room for hours to avoid headaches and queasy stomachs. The shower looked like it was fresh out of a serial killer movie - a dark, marble-encased coffin in the bathroom, but it was relatively clean. The pool was a disgusting puddle of green goo. If I'm paying for an ammennity, it should be clean and functional. That was not the case with the pool. The floors were relatively clean, and there were no pest problems I could see. I guess that's a good thing, but it certainly isn't enough for boasting, or for me to desire another stay. read more

I decided to stay the night in Ashland again, on my drive down from Seattle to SF. After calling around a bit, Knights Inn (now a Rodeway Inn) quoted me $70, almost half the price of anything else in the area, with the Shakespearean festival kicking into high gear. And... now I know why motels have the reputation they do. On the upside, free wi-fi, their beds are comfy, the rooms are reasonably clean, they're inexpensive, and they have a "breakfast" service from 6-10am, where they provide coffee, milk, some cereal, packaged pastries, fresh bananas and apples - but really, unless you're in a huge hurry, why not go to the inexpensive, and tasty, Mother Goose Cafe that's 50 feet away? The downsides? Cheap pillows; cheap, thin tissues and toilet paper; I found a bug (not bed bugs, fortunately) in a towel and one of the comforters; and my accessible room was not really accessible, as the shower has no fold down bench, the motel doesn't have shower chairs/stools to offer, and you can't close the bathroom door with a wheelchair inside (and if you don't, the shower steam will supposedly set off the fire alarm). Another caveat - this is no longer a Knights Inn Motel. They sold the property to the Rodeway Inn chain, for better or for worse. Personally, I'll stick to slightly more upscale places next time around. read more

We were only passing through Ashland and needed to stay just 1 night. We booked using Priceline and at $60 for a King Room it was slightly more pricy than some of the other Motel/Inn 2 Star accommodations we've been staying in throughout Oregon, but not as well maintained. Look, for the price it's just about a clean room with a bed and hot shower - that's what you get here. It's not the nicest or most welcoming place around for the lower end price, but it's certainly adequate. The continental breakfast consisted of a juice machine, coffee and some cheap looking supermarket pastries. Biggest bonus would be the Wild Goose Cafe which shares a parking lot with this Rodeway Inn, I would definitely recommend you stop in there for your diner style breakfast ($5.50 for 2 large buttermilk pancakes) and super friendly service, or later in the evenings its more of a restaurant/bar. read more

One of the most unpleasant experiences I have had with large Chain motels. I used their online reservation system and instead of reserving the date I wanted next month itt made the reservation for today. I live hundreds of miles away. I called within five minutes of being notified of the error yet they absolutely refused to cancel the reservation made in error. If they think they are gointo screw me out of one hundred dollars they need to re think that. I immediately locked my card and the Choice motel chain will never see another dollar from me or anybody else I can talk sense to. Bad corporate behavior. Update. In spite of their seeming ineptitude my card hasn't been charged yet so I was probably a little to harsh in my comments. Just be cautious using the online reservation system. read more

I would have given this place no stars but yelp wouldn't let me continue without at least giving one. This place is horrible. I stayed in room 122 right across the parking lot from the bar! I have to admit I was looking for the cheapest place and boy did I find it. Appliances are old and dirty, shower was half finished. The couple that run the place are horrible. The wife. Is ruthless and even grabbed my money off the counter and said "no refunds." When I questioned her charges for various things. Do yourself a favor and get a tent and a blow up bed. It will be cleaner and cheaper and I would rather spend the night with wild animals than the people that run this place!!!! read more

Nothing special about this place, but it's a fine motel for the price and location. A bit of traffic in the parking lot at night, but overall, the motel is good. The room was decent and clean, and the A/C worked well. The bathroom was small but clean. The pool was ice cold, but it was nice to soak in the sun for a bit in the daytime while waiting for the night-time plays at the Shakespeare Festival. The morning breakfast was weak, though, and the breakfast room is joined to the lobby. Thus, it was kind of cramped. Overall, though, totally a good deal for the money. read more

This motel has a few perks. It's right by the 5, so it's very easily accessible. Checking in and out was very easy, and took only a minute or two. The room was very clean, and it had a retro/vintage look to it, which makes it feel overall more comfortable (imo). There are some downsides to balance out the good. First and foremost, in the parking lot sits the Wild Goose Café & Bar. The latter part of that name automatically guarantees that you will hear loud, drunk, obnoxious people at the wee hours of the morning, and that is exactly what happened. Nothing like waking up at one in the morning to people yelling. The only other issue we had with this motel is that on our second night our room keys suddenly stopped working. It was easily fixed by the manager on duty, however. The most important thing about this place is that they provided exactly what we needed: An affordable place to lay our head at night. read more

The place says pet friendly then says we can't have are dog there so I gave him the key and said I just want something that said I canceled he said you bought on Priceline you deal with them. I said ok that's fine just give me something saying I canceled long story short he refused I left Priceline called saying he said it was non cancelable I called him he said deal with it. In a trip from Portland to central California we stayed at several motels in little towns along the way. This place stood out as being clean, in excellent condition, and even tasteful and updated, compared to every other place of comparable price along the way. This is the only place I would recommend to a friend of all the places we stayed. And I wouldn't mind going back there. read more

Knight's Inn was great! It was easy to find off the freeway, was affordable, clean and comfy, and had free Wi-Fi. They had a li'l fridge, and a microwave, and a coffee maker. Plus, their TV had cable! I would have loved if they had a DVD player or VCR, but oh well. I was surprised that I didn't find an alarm clock in the room. I was lucky to be on vacation with two early morning birds, who naturally woke up at 7am though. =) Even if it's not in the heart of Ashland, it's totally fine because Ashland is such a small town already. And parking is really easy to come by... both in the hotel and the downtown area of Ashland. read more

My husband and I first stayed here back in 2001 or 2002. We had a good time here and decided that if we ever stayed in Ashland again that we would stay here. This last weekend we stopped in Ashland on our way home to Washington and decided to stop here. There are now new owners, and the motel is being upgraded. There is beautiful granite tile in the bathroom -- so far the sink and the walls of the shower. The owner told me that next year they will replace all the shower floors and all the beds [I had no problem with the bed -- it was very comfortable]. I needed extra pillows and the young lady at the front desk graciously provided me with an extra pillow. Accessing their free wifi was really easy [we stayed at a big chain motel in another town on our way to California Thursday night and their wifi kept failing -- I got knocked off at least 6 times in a 15 minute time frame]. The wifi here was not only easy but I never got knocked off of it the entire evening. After reading the reviews for the Wild Goose methinks that the Lisa B post could be part of the group of spammers these two Ashland merchants are having problems with. I also showed up with a AAA card and I can assure you that the price I was charged for the room was well below the lowest price that this Lisa B person noted in her post. Since both my husband and I love Ashland I know that we will be returning again to this beautiful city. And we will undoubtedly be staying at THIS motel. Decided to make a reservation at the RI in Ashland as a rest stop while my son and I drove up from Long Beach, CA to Tacoma, WA. The main reason I chose this spot was both for location and price...I figured after a long day on the road we just needed a bed to crash in. The pleasant surprise was the rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and there was even free wifi to take advantage of. The next morning I figured my son and I would just walk to the diner/café that was right next door but I decided to walk into their free breakfast area just to see what was what. When I saw the hot waffle iron and no line I immediately had a change of heart and took advantage of the free breakfast. The Indian woman attending was very respectful and helpful. We enjoyed fresh hard boiled eggs and coffee to go with my hot waffle. It was nothing fancy but it did the trick...I will be sure to stay here again next time I drive the length of the western US coast. Clean room and a yummy warm breakfast for less than $100...Done. read more

I stayed here alone with my children for a week while waiting for my husband to join us and I must say that in spite of having very close proximity to a bar, I felt very safe and relaxed. Their deskstaff are incredibly professional while remaining personable and friendly, the cleaning staff are quick and very proficient. They are also right next door to a great diner, which happens to have a bar in the back. Honestly the only reason I can't give five stars is because of the bar so close and when we checked back in the bigger room was closer to the bar and some nights we heard drunkards. The price really is fair for the cozy and clean accommodations. Also you are close to everything; the highway, gas stations, restaurants, health food stores, grocery stores, fine dining, downtown Ashland... overall nice affordable, no frills, hotel. read more

Run by total narcs. Was needlessly woken up by staff entering room at 9am, even though checkout was at noon. Some staff was rude, and desk clerk charged an extra $25 fee for ramrodding more than two people in a double queen room. Also, bad coffee. Would not recommend. read more

Our favorite place to stay in Ashland! The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. Wonderful staff, very professional and always courteous. Free wifi and there is a coffee shop/bar footsteps away that opens at 6am with amazing coffee! Sushi place next door, supermarket across the street (fridge and microwave in the room). There is nothing else in town better for the price and since they have a lot of rooms, we've never had any last minute booking issues. We paid $100/night for 4 people. read more

This hotel was very clean. It has a groovy shower gel/shampoo/conditioner dispenser, an iron, hairdryer, decent tv, and coffee maker. The big surprise was the fridge and microwave: BONUS! We stayed in a double room for about $70. This hotel is a great deal. Very disappointed. My son and I checked in Wednesday July 3rd for three nites. Was quoted a a price of $72 and change - with AAA. They advertise online $66. Ended up being charged $82 and change to my credit card. Will never stay there again - for a second we thought about going across the street to the Super 8 - but just wanted to unload the car and start seeing Ashland. Right off the freeway was very handy - and only minutes to downtown - and close to grocery stores. The room was clean - just a shower stall - no tub - bummer. Stayed on second floor - and really enjoyed meeting other travelers. Did have an iron - which was great - fridge/freezer was a plus. Free Wi-Fi came in very handy. Continental breakfast was ok - took advantage of it on the morning we were checking out. read more
