This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I paid a discounted rate of 100.00 for what was said to be a 2.5 star hotel experience lol. Check in as it 3 .... I had to beg to check in at 2pm although there were plants of "clean" rooms available. Of course when I get to my room it wasn't clean and management needs to replace things and work on their customer service since they know the hotel is tattered. Then I try to use the hotel pool. And they shut it down when it gets dark and have no lights. When can I use the pool if I can't check in until 3 .. it closes at dusk and you have to catch a flight or check out by 11am. The continental breakfast literally had bread and bananas - the worst. And I've included pictures of how

This was likely one of the most filthy, poorly maintained, disgusting hotels I have ever stayed in. Had this been a Flea Bag roach motel on the side of a highway in the middle of nowhere for $19.95 per night, I would understand, and not complain. But I paid Nearly $70 for one night, and it is in the middle of North Miami. Photos online must be from 25 years ago, because it looks NOTHING LIKE THIS NOW! The carpets were "sticky" had to wear shoes in the room and in the hallways. The sliding glass door on the external wall was screwed in place, but the genius who screwed the door in did not get it closed all the way before he screwed it in, so there was a gap in the closure on both sides of the door and every sound off the road, parking lot and area outside the lobby was heard perfectly in my room. (not to mention the heat and humidity leaking in thru those gaps) I got zero sleep. The air conditioner worked well, (Thank goodness) but it had a hard time keeping up with the constant flow of warm air coming in from the huge gaps in the sliding glass door, so it kicked on and off like 40 times per hour all night long. The lingering smell of Marijuana was pervasive throughout the entire property. At first I assumed I was just walking behind someone who had recently been partaking, but no, the entire property reeked of the smell. Towels were soft, sheets appeared clean, pillows sucked and were only about half the size of a normal pillow. Lobby was disgusting. "Included" free breakfast was totally not available (I presume due to the RonaVirus scare) But no alternative was offered, or even mentioned. The caution tape stretched all over the lobby to keep people out of the breakfast area made it look like a crime scene. The front desk attendants took FOREVER to check in each person (the line was out the door due to the whole 6 foot distancing thing) and once I was at the front of the line and it was my turn I realized why it took so long. None of them speak English past about a 1st grade level. So everything had to be repeated multiple times and it was a struggle to understand anything they said. Just totally gross. I could go on.

This place is something else, dirty, smells and all around a horrible experience. As I'm writing this the shower is broken and I have to wait until the maintenance person report to the front desk that's ok for me to get a new room. This place needs to be shutdown.

(Continued from Last Review. Yup I got more to say :D) So early the next morning I pack up all my stuff. Head down to the front desk to check out and let them know I would not be staying there another night. And there was no one there! Which is perplexing because there were four standing around the night before doing nothing. I have to meet a client. I don't have time for an employee to mosey on up to the desk. So, I leave my keycards with the little folder that says my Room Number on it on the middle of the counter in plain sight. Which apparently, they didn't see or ignored because I got charged for an additional night!! I had to contact them two days after I checked out to even get my receipt. And I was told they had just emailed it to me. After I reviewed it, sure enough they charged me for an additional day. I emailed them back to let them know of their error. This was on a Friday. I waited until Tuesday to call them and try to talk to the manager. I should have known it was not going to go well when I asked for a manager and instead of identifying herself as the manager started drilling me with questions. I tried to explain that I did not stay in the room the second night. And was cut off by the rude manager saying I should have informed someone. I tried to explain that no one was there which she replied there's always someone there. Umm no there is not. I had to leave the key card and folder. She tells me they didn't know I had vacated the room until the next day when the maid went to clean the room after my planned checkout. So, you're telling me, the maid didn't clean the room the second day? That's another mark against customer service. Overall, this hotel is trash. The employees there are rude. The neighborhood is not family friendly. Avoid this place at all costs. Please! Oh and when I got home I was so afraid of being infested with bed bugs, everything went right into the washer. I didn't separate darks from whites; cold from hot; my shower kit went right in, everything still inside it; my cloth tool pouch went in, my work boots and sneakers also went in. so far I've been free of infestation.

I needed a quick room and actually booked while at Miami Int. Airport. It's a ways, North, from the airport but the price is right. Check-in was quick and they waved the security deposit for me. The building is old but has a historical feel. All of the staff and other guests were really friendly and helpful. The bed was awesomely comfortable so I have no complaints. Yes, I would visit again.

Broke down palace replete with bedbugs, staff that won't answer phone even when you are looking right at them. Signs plastered everywhere regarding Covid safety requirements, yet NOT one compliant measure. Handmade signs everywhere "all facilities closed due to Covid", elevator out of order, cigarette burns on the carpet. Kindly staff directed me to a "restaurant" that was actually a bait and tackle shop. Luckily there is actually a police station inside because sketchy folks were everywhere. Pillows are throw pillows so you can't even use them to buffer the springs protruding from the tired saggy mattress. Pool full of dirt, hot tub with a lovely green sludge covering it. Conveniently located across from a hospital so you can hear the dulcet sounds of sirens for hours on end. I could have caught a glimpse of the freeway but my windows were so filth I couldn't really see out. Mold and water stains everywhere and patched up holes where someone punched doors and walls. I was too afraid to shower there given the filth of the rest of the place. Called from the room, it rang 67 times. Called from my phone at front desk and watched them ignore the phone and me, at the same time. Maskholes everywhere and a $53 ride from the airport, where I should've slept because I wouldn't have bedbug bites. Staff didn't care but in their defense, they were not listening. Lucky me I got the room next to the one operating elevator so I got to hear the grinding every time anyone went up or down which went on all night. The stench of weed definitely was a nice touch, I can't imagine what it would be without it.

    Shower. Unbelievable that it's real.

This is worst hotel I have ever seen in my life. So dirty and old! Don't even think to stay here! Look at the photos. We came here around midnight and it was too late to find new place. We change the room because the first one was completely bad.

I stayed here a couple times, numerous days on end sometimes, I do stay in the area, so its very convenient, I never have any problems but with this one housekeeping lady, and yes, i will state her name, her name is MARGARET. I had one run and with her before and her service sucks! In a nutshell, she wants you to do her job, meaning grab towels from the laundry room and all even though she is on my floor and have a cart full of clean towels. She had the nerve today to talk about me in creole to one of her coworkers, wich was so obvious about it that the coworker that didnt even had my room, grabbed it from Margaret cart and basically told her it wasn't the time for whatever she was saying. It was clearly obvious. This is my second run end a with her and her customer service just sucks. She was pointing in my face and I was only 3 feet apart from her. I'm not sure she may think I'm somebody else but to the fact this happened twice in a row, no I THINK ITS HER. SHE DEFINITELY HAVE A RATE OF COUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10 SHE IS .5. NOT EVEN A 1!!!! WOW. SOMETHING NEEDS TO. E DONE

Pubic hair found on the bed in a "clean room"
    Kristin T.

This hotel was disgusting! The building was outdated and the air was stale and moist. When went.to sit on the bed there were what looked to be pubic hair near the pillow and a nasty stain on the carpet. There were also papers and brochures left one the nightstand from previous guests. They offered us another room, but at that point I did not trust their housekeeping staff. We were refunded by Priceline and decided to use a well known hotel chain. I will never stay at a hotel that is not a part of a reputable chain. Save yourself a headache and look elsewhere.

Walking distance to a Publix, the mall, bakery, etc. The hotel checkin is on the 6th floor, the first floor is mainly a seating area and concierge. They offer free hot breakfast, mini fridge and microwave in the room, cruise shuttle at time of this review is priced at $12 with pick up times at 10a, 11a, and 12p. If you miss breakfast, they had breakfast bags with fruit and other grab and go items. You will need your room key to access the laundry room and guest floors. There is no carpet in the room I was in (basic king- not the elite level) and pets are not allowed. Service animals only. The hotel has a lobby bar, three restaurants are located right next door (Sproutz, Batch Gastropub, and Shahs of Kabob). I dined at Sproutz and Shahas of Kabob and both are good, but they are not affiliated with the hotel. I stayed 3 nights prior to my cruise and I really enjoyed my stay. The air conditioner worked with no issues, pillows are very soft, bed was firm, but not uncomfortable and I slept better in that bed, than my own. There is a master light switch to control the overhead light in the entry and bathroom. You can operate them separately (it just takes some flipping of lights to figure it out). Decent water pressure and nice, hot water at night. Morning time I suggest getting your shower in early. Hot water is still present but not as hot as it was the night before. Tip- I took my shower at 5/6am the morning of checkout and the water was hot and perfect for a nice shower before leaving for cruise. Staff was always smiling, friendly and willing to assist. Carlos at the concerige desk is very helpful, ask for his recommendations and he is more than happy to assist. The 7th floor has the laundry facility, but many machines were out of order. This is going on my pre cruise hotel list because it was the perfect hotel and the perfect location. It was about a 15min ride to the cruise port and airport. My gf and I stopped through here on our way out before boarding our flights later in the afternoon. If you're toting your luggage and not a hotel guest, you will have to find another hotel to store your luggage while enjoying this most decadent brunch experience. Luckily we arrived early enough to our reservations to sort that out. Reservations are a must if you don't want to wait. The restaurant is gorgeous with various spaces designed differently but keeps to the exotic Asian theme. Dining in the atrium near the water feature in the middle with stage for the musicians is where we had our experience. Olga was our server. She brought us our special beverages not available at the bar: Bloody Mary's and endless bubbly in our glasses The offerings here are more than I can name, but there is something to satisfy every craving. The favorite for me is the caviar bar. It comes with all the proper fixings on a blini with Crème fraîche. Do you need a vodka shot to go with? Yes, that's also available also at the caviar station. Fresh raw oysters, clams or shrimp cocktail is available in abundance with everything else here. The ceviche was great. I passed on all the various noodles but had to have some lamb curry and basmati rice- delicious! I had some Peking Duck and leg of lamb at the meat station. The filet mignon and lamb chops was ordered and brought to the table. The leg of lamb and filet were slightly dry but still good. The lamb chops with chimichurri sauce was amazing- nuances of vibrant flavors. Assorted fresh fruits were a colorful collection of enticements. I saw some papaya and enjoyed its fresh, sweet juiciness. I am not a dessert person but had to try the key like pie. Then of course, the matcha dessert is a sitting temptation next to the pie. So, my dessert spoils were more than intended. What the hell right? Lol That was the sweet ending to my Setai brunch. There was so much more such as bread, fried stuff, eggs, bagel station, toast etc. One can only eat so much. I stuck to enjoying my favorites. The experience is pricey but so worth it. It is truly the best brunch experience I've ever had. - better than Vegas and a cruise ship!! I always have to experience a Setai brunch whenever in Miami!

First, the good, it's an awesome location on the southern tip of Brickell Key. The pool was wonderful and gets mostly continuous sun exposure during the day. My balcony faced west so I had sun during the afternoon as well (perfect for a tan). Honestly, I never felt like I needed to leave the resort being a pool guy. The base price room was spacious and mostly clean with a separate shower and tub. The bad- the service wasn't great here. I felt like anytime I needed something I had to ask 3-4 times before staff would remember (including freebies that were part of the room rate). The one time I asked a concierge for assistance he was super brash telling me to go talk to the front desk. The property felt old and in need of a renovation (again it's being demolished so not surprising in that context). Also, a lot of the ads for the resort promote its beach which no longer exists- it's now a model home for the condos going in. The hotel is pricey and gratuity is auto-included at 20% for everything which would be fine if the service was better and they didn't ask for additional tip on top of it. I wish I stayed here 20+ years ago because it felt like in its hay day this was a swanky hotel. Today, it's tired, on its last months, and the staff really don't seem like 5-star talent (as a benefit to the doubt most people would be unmotivated if things were shutting down too). Part of me is excited to try the new hotel whenever it opens, part of me wonders if the poor service is just part of the brand. The gym was tacky- literally they just through equipment in 6ish guest rooms with the doors propped open. Kind of funny but not 5-star hotel caliber.

The Brickell area is a vibe, walkable and full of restaurants and shops, which makes it a perfect pre- or post-cruise stay. The hotel's proximity to the cruise port was a huge plus. The king bed does take up most of the room, stretching from the window to the wall, so the room feels a bit compact--but it's thoughtfully designed. The sink is located in the main room across from the bathroom, and I actually found the setup pretty functional. The shelves around the sink were stocked with a washcloth, hand towel, hair dryer, and tissues, plus hand soap and lotion at the end of the counter. There was also enough counter space for toiletries. There's an open closet area and a nice touch of wall art, and the laminated wood flooring gave the room a clean, modern feel. One of my favorite features was the in-room iPad that controls everything--such a fun tech-forward touch. I also absolutely loved the decor throughout the hotel. There's also a bar on the second floor with outdoor seating, which is a great spot to relax and people-watch. Overall, this hotel has a fun atmosphere, smart use of technology, and an unbeatable location. I'd definitely stay here again, especially for a quick stay before a cruise.

Overall, I'd say M Citizen is a great choice for its location and vibe, but pack light and don't expect spacious quarters.

We arrived early around 11:00 AM and were immediately greeted with a glass of prosecco. Because I'm a Platinum member, I was able to get an early check-in and an upgrade. The staff took great care of us, bringing our bags up to the room while giving us a tour of the property. Our room was a stunning 1-bedroom suite with partial ocean views. The setup directly at the beach with refreshments was beautiful, as was the pool area, and we were told the pools were heated. Now, if you've read one of my reviews before, you know I'm going to order room service, and it did not disappoint. Just a heads up, valet was $60 a night. I will absolutely be back, and a huge thank you to the staff for such a great experience!

Not sure what construction as it looks mostly the same. Additionally had to wait 45 minutes for a room service menu as QR was not working and our bathroom faucet fell off the wall. And it's the high season, January. Beware stay clear. Not worth 1500/night for a suite. Construction still going on, many workers not present in hotel but all over the site. Very disappointed.
