Still a fan! Working at a client's so had breakfast delivered and Rogelio's is open before many other places. I was handing over a cash tip to a wonderful delivery driver when other establishments would have only been open for five minutes. First of all, I am delighted how enormous my horchata is!! And it tastes great, plenty of ice in there. The drinks arrived chilly and the food was hot, life is good. The machacado is texturally lovely, the beef's not petrified nor too chewy and the peppers/onions tasted so zingy fresh and brought wonderful color. Modest supporting cast of beans and potatoes were comforting and the right size--some places you wonder if it spilled out on the way or they only put enough to cover the bottom of the tray section like a comestible trompe l'oeil. My guisada taco was satisfying; been a long while since I've had any so I savored it straight up. Didn't even add salsa. Good bite size chunks and flavor, no gristle. The poblano Escobar was the second big happy surprise for me, roasted peppers had such a nice taste and texture. Mild enough I could feed it to my Midwestern ma and generously stuffed. I'll have to have Mr R try this during Lent. Surprise number three, their salsas. I tried them out on my leftover machacado plate, which became two fat tacos. Now I don't mind when I'm at a taco truck and the salsa shot you get is Herdez from a bottle, but THESE beauties are so fresh. Both red and green brought more heat than expected*, I loved it. Driver mentioned they'd redone the interior since she'd last visited it herself and was planning to go back and eat there in the near future now. I asked if they still did their fresh squeezed oj (I haven't stepped in there for a while, either!), but she hadn't noticed. I do know their cooking's still banging, what a great start to my day. *Over a week later their verde cut with mayo for hard boiled egg snacks still makes my nose run. Can we buy this in a jar? Bc spouse would LOVE IT.

Amazing family owned restaurant. Everytime I've visited this place , which has been about 15 times over the last 10 years, it's been incredible . It's located next to my dads business and it's always been my go to breakfast place. The food is cheap, delicious , and comes out fast! I personally don't like the chips (they are pre-bought) but the salsa makes up for it read more

Ordered To-Go on my way back home and I was not disappointed! I ordered in the restaurant and was out of there in five minutes! I got two (maybe three, okay?) tacos: Bean and Cheese (a classic to review) and Papa Ranchera (my personal favorite.) The bean and cheese was good, nothing special. I wasn't wowed by this one. Tortillas were NOT very good and for me, that's a hit and miss. Papa Ranchera- AMAZING. I love blended Papa Ranchera tacos- where there's so much sauce the papas stay together. Very soft papas as well. Delicious salsa. Taco salsa was very fresh. Size of tacos: very good. I'd recommend, it's just a little overpriced. read more

Loved this place. Waitress was friendly and took great care of us. The food was so good! They have daily specials that are $6 for breakfast or $8.50 for lunch and dinner. I had the sour cream enchiladas which come with a verde sauce that was so good. Excellent all around. read more

It would have been good except I ordered door dash and chose no cheese or sour cream as I'm allergic to dairy (they had the options on their door dash menu which means they can abide by this request). The chicken flautas were loaded with cheese. Waste of money and now I can't even eat my dinner. Do not recommend if you have food allergies as they do not pay attention to medical issues. read more

Great food! Great service! Great prices! Rogelio's has everything you are looking for when searching for a restaurant. Prices are great and portions are good. If you are looking for good traditional Mexican food, Rogelio's is your place to go. I opted for the Eggs and Carne Guisada plate. The portion was good and flavor was on point. My meal would have been way better if the tortillas were homemade. We will continue to visit Rogelio's and recommend others to visit as well. read more

I have no food pix to post cuz we wolfed everything down within 8 minutes .... that's no exaggeration .... charro beans & rice were well-cooked & full of flavors, street tacos al carbon where should I start, tenderest meat & robust, beef enchiladas were MUAH !!! and the margaritas, DAMN no cutting corners at all! Not worth the stop, food is over priced and the quality is not there. 1. Guacamole $10: They put it in a cup but fill it with shredded lettuce and top it with the guac. 2. Chicken quesadilla $14: just no, the " fajita chicken"was old and dry no seasoning, the flour tortilla was chewy like it had been microwave, lacked cheese 3. Mole chicken $12: This lacked flavor, tasted like can mole, chicken it self was tough and had a lot of cartilage, really small portion 4. Met owner of Root Cellar, he highly recommend Rogelio's. He was right, may be the best cheese enchiladas ever. Pablo the manager came out and helped me with my order. Had rellano, it we great. Only thing would be lighter greaser chips. We are going to have breakfast here tomorrow. Flan needs it's own line, homemade and truly the best I have ever had. We came back for breakfast. We all had Migas. Some of the best we have ever had. Tortillas were hot. Coffee only $1.5. M-F Breakfast special $5 lunch and dinner $7. Cannot best the prices. Average is the only way to describe my breakfast. It was nothing special. Ordered the huevos motulenos. The corn tortilla on the bottom of the scrambled eggs was chewy, did not easily break apart. The eggs lacked spice. The beans and potatoes both lacked flavor. At least there was salsa to add some taste to everything. Was not impressed. read more

Real authentic Mexican food in San Marcos we order a lot from the menu: Menudo we order the large one and it was wonderful it's huge on a clay pot Tacos de barbacoa they are made with authentic beef cheek well cooked Tacos John Wade it's a mix of barbacoa and migas in a four tortilla it sounds weird but believe me it's one of the best tacos on the menu Also order their micheladas are fresh, tangy and spicy wonderful after a rough night on the square Thanks Rogelio we enjoy it a lot Gracias read more

Established in 1998.

Rogelio Nieto left his homeland of Sauz-Palo Gordo (El Sauz), Mexico at the age of 15 in order to fulfill his ambition of living the American dream. Through his endeavour he found his passion for the food industry and worked in several different kitchens found in Austin, Texas. After helping manage several different restaurant for 20 years, Rogelio decided to introduce his own recipes. With the help of loyal customer that already loved his popular dishes, Rogelio opened the doors to his restaurant in 1998. Since then Rogelio's Restaurant has continued running with the help of his family, staff, and its loyal customers.

My wife had visited years ago, and a close friend had recently recommended it, so it seemed like a good opportunity to give it a try. The building itself is beautiful. We parked in the rear lot and entered through the bakery, which immediately caught our attention. There was an impressive variety of pastries on display, and the kids were quickly informed they could each pick one out later if they behaved. The restaurant also has several colorful walls and decorative displays that make for fun photo opportunities and selfies. We were seated at a large table toward the back near the restrooms. Service was friendly throughout the meal and reasonably attentive despite the restaurant being busy. To drink, I ordered the jalapeño prickly pear margarita, while my wife chose a peach, coconut, and strawberry margarita. Both had excellent flavor. My wife's drink was especially memorable--it tasted like a cross between a strawberry margarita, peach bellini, and piña colada. The only thing missing was a little more tequila, as both drinks leaned more toward the sweet side than the spirited side. The chips were slightly thicker than I typically prefer but still enjoyable, and the salsa selection was excellent with a pleasant level of heat. The kids ordered bean and cheese tacos from the children's menu, and the restaurant happily substituted fruit for rice without any upcharge, which we appreciated. For our entrees, my wife ordered the vegetarian enchiladas while I chose the fajitas. The fajitas were good overall, though the meat portion felt a bit light and seemed stretched by a generous amount of green peppers. The rice, however, was excellent and one of the better components of the meal. Before leaving, we visited the bakery. The kids enjoyed their donuts and cookie, while I opted for a guava empanada that turned out to be one of the highlights of the visit. Overall, Casa Maria impressed me more with its atmosphere, bakery, and creative drinks than with the food itself. It's a beautiful restaurant with a fun family-friendly vibe, a strong bakery program, and some excellent margarita flavors. I'd gladly stop back for the pastries and drinks--and if they ever decide to be a little more generous with the tequila, even better.

When I showed this to the server she tried to say that was for the guacamole, which was a total fabrication because a) the $1.99 was on the line that says desebrada and b) there was a charge of $1.25 on the line for guacamole. After not accepting this she said "I don't know" and was going to leave it at that until I asked to speak with a manager. The manager had ZERO customer service skills as she started by saying "what's your problem?" I patiently explained the overcharge again and she took out her phone and added the amounts on the bill, she didn't explain why she was doing this, but I assumed it was to check if the $1.99 was actually in the total, and it was. She then said "let me check the computer" and was gone for nearly 10 minutes. When she returned she said the computer is right the ground beef is $12.99 and the desebrada is an additional $1.99. She refused to match the price in the menu and walked away! We won't be back and suggest you don't waste your time, unless you like mediocre Mexican food, terrible service, being charged more than the menu states and having a Manager metaphorically flip you off!

I tried to find something "different" to avoid the lunch rush. What better than the side cafe in a Thai market? As hoped, it more than met the expectations. You turn left in the market and order from the cashier. There's some paper menus. Then you go to the other side and find a seat. Shortly afterwards this older gentleman will deliver the most amazing Thai meal you can imagine. Oh man, it almost makes me wish I get called up on jury duty again. I went with a classic Pad Thai lunch menu. Came with a wonderful spring role and some soup. Both were excellent. The Pad Thai was just insanely good. It's been about 20 years since I've been to Thailand so maybe my taste buds are aged, but it made me think I was back. If you ever want a great, hidden gem of Asian food - you have got to try this place out.

Terrible customer service. Canceled items off my order, when asked if something else could be substituted was told to do on my end because they couldn't edit orders. That would've caused double delivery fees so I asked about this and was ignored until the other items in my order were picked up and I was unable to communicate through the app anymore. I added the other item while I was waiting but they didn't include it in my original order and when I called the restaurant to speak about it was left on hold for over 30 minutes, while the manager was on the phone with DoorDash because they substituted the item and didn't know why the driver didn't pick it up. When I called them on that lie, I was the one who added the additional item after they claimed they couldn't edit orders, I was told I was being rude and put back on hold. Kicker they eventually just hung up on me and wouldn't pick up the phone when I called back. read more

We have been patrons of this restaurant for a couple of years when we are in San Marcos. The food is traditional Mexican. Prepared well and the service has always been good and reasonably priced.
