This is a great coffee shop and bakery in the heart of Towson. If you're in the mood for a pastry they have a huge selection. I had a chocolate croissant which was very good! They have a variety of syrups for coffee & my fave is an iced mocha with marshmallow syrup....kind of like drinking a s'mores. The inside is spacious and inviting with a ton of seating. However, I am quite disappointed in the lattes themselves. I find that the lattes aren't really driven by caffeine but more sugar. I felt a sugar high that leaves you crashing after a few sips. There was no richness. If you're looking for a decent coffee place, I do not recommend. Between the caramellow and the churro latte, I'd say the churro latte is more basic flavor-wise which I really liked. The sandwiches are always amazing but I will say I don't think the person making the sandwich knows the difference between a beet and a red pepper because I have now multiple times gotten a sandwich where I asked for beets and got red peppers on it instead, unless your beets just happen to look like red peppers in which case I'm sorry for even saying something, but they don't look or taste like a beet. I like their quiches, however, why can't put a foil or something on top? they are open to the elements with people pointing OVER the counter! Believe it or not I actually accidentally walked into this place thinking I was going to pick up my pizza order (the pizza shop is 2 doors down) but the directions on my phone were confusing and I ended up finding this little gem along the way! And so happy I did too. It looked and smelled amazing so the next morning I brought my friends here for breakfast. They loved the lattes. I think it is up there with one of the best in Baltimore. i went here on one of the windiest days ever at like 4 pm. i like that this place is open late. the interior is quite large. i ordered a butter croissant and my partner ordered an apple turnover and a chocolate croissant. compared to other croissants i've had recently, these ones are quite small, but serviceable. we asked for our pastries to be heated up and it took them a full 30 minutes to heat them up (one of the employees had to chase down their sandwich sign that had blown away, so not entirely due to slow service). we were also the only people who had ordered at that time. the pastries came out slightly burned. the pastry itself was good, nothing to write home about. if i wanted a late afternoon treat, i would consider roggenart. otherwise, i would probably look elsewhere for pastries. read more

Roggenart has become a part of our Sunday morning breakfast routine. There is a lot to like about this Towson bakery. First, everything is freshly made. I've rolled in a little after opening and witnessed first hand pastries being pulled from the oven and lined on the trays of the display case. Second, there are vegan options. Their vegan croissants were really good. I've yet to try their vegan breakfast sandwich but I love knowing that it is an option. Third, they are consistent. Finally they opened the location in Towson, not far from my hotel. No more trips to Columbia or Elliott City. This is a beautiful location, spacious and classy. The menu is the same here as it is at the other locations. Here I had a cordon bleu with was perfect, delicious and not to much, perfect for a Friday morning. Reminds me on this place we have here in Rochester called Spot Coffee but this place was much more welcoming, food was better, and the desserts were very very good. We started our day off at Roggenart with breakfast sandwiches on a croissant, sandwiches were huge btw. I forgot what my lady had but I got a chicken (deli meat), egg and cheese sandwich with tomato and avocado, which those two were a really great touch and made the sandwich taste even better. We also got the cookie-croissant and a chocolate croissant which were both amazing and a must try. My husband got an almond croissant and breakfast sandwich. The croissant tasted good initially plus they warm it up, but several bites in, he ended up spitting it out bc something inside it tasted like sweat. :( So that was a bit of a bummer. Our total for a breakfast sandwich, one lunch sandwich (chicken and pesto) and almond croissant (which cost $4.99) totalled almost $30. I guess that's to be expected with inflation. read more

What a lovely space. Clean and larger than I initially thought. There were a few people and since it's near the university, some students took up some tables to study. We came in for an after lunch snack. Since it was later in the day, some of the options were already sold out. Ordered the pain au raisin, which they warm up for you if you're dining in, and an iced coffee. Both were fantastic. I haven't had an iced coffee that smooth and the pastry was flaky and not horribly sweet. The server was excellent. The friendliest person I have ever encountered. You can tell that it's a fun place to work from the way they interact with one another, without being rude or obnoxious to those around them. Great spot to chat and enjoy a treat. The prices were fair. they might be a little more affordable than the other Roggenart places, perhaps because they're in a college town? During my Christmas Covid Convalescence, a friend of mine dropped off some sweet treats on my porch. What a sweetheart! I immediately devoured the almond croissant then had to try a little cream puff. Delicious! I'll admit, I made the mistake of putting the box of treats in the fridge until later in the day. Unfortunately, this only made them hard as a rock and inedible, although I was able to scoop out some of the filling in the mini treats (one was lemon and the other like a creme brulee) to at least try them. The remaining cream puffs were okay, but not as fresh as when they arrived. I suggest leaving them out until ready to indulge. read more

The service leaves a lot to be desired. On Tuesday I ordered an apple strudel and the woman brought something else, saying ".. apple". It wasn't. I got up and showed it to her. I asked her to warm it up a bit, but after a while I had to get up and said "I'm ready for my strudel". It wasn't even busy, around 11.... The first thing we were surprised to see is that they have no menus. When I asked a server, he told me that they have not had them for a long time, and they were waiting for them to be printed. The restaurant consists of two rooms - one large room with a long, large high-top table, booths, tables, and cozy corner seating with a coffee table. The walls are stone, wood, black tin like ceiling, and lots of natural and ceiling lighting. The main room has a cozy corner seating with a coffee table as well as several tables. Here is where you place your order and where you will see an array of their baked goods. Another surprise was that you have to clean your own table. The restaurant was not very clean. I had to ask a server to wipe off my table that was left with a ton of crumbs on it and drips from something. The floor in the large room was covered in crumbs and trash. It appears that the staff takes a really long time to wipe off tables after someone leaves and does not worry about the trash on the floor. . We found the prices high for what we ordered. We had a Pain Au Chocolate ($4.50). It was small, served warm, with not much chocolate. I ordered a Three Cheese Grilled Cheese which came on sourdough bread with American, Cheddar, and Gruyere cheeses ($8.99). It was perfect - crunchy outside with a gooey inside. My husband ordered the Prosciutto and Fresh Mozzarella sandwich, which had aged prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, arugula and creamy, homemade, cashew, pesto sauce on a fresh baguette ($11.99). He thought it was just okay, he would have liked more prosciutto. Both sandwiches came with Uglies Kettle Sea Salt Chips. I always enjoy a Roasted Beet Salad, so I asked for a side one ($4.99), but I was too full to eat it. We had free water (self-serve) to drink. Our total bill was $30.47 before tax. We were glad that we had a coupon for $7.00 off which enticed us to try the restaurant. Our overall opinion is that we were underwhelmed. They also have outside seating. read more

I've been here twice--the service is extremely slow. The first time it was very busy so I gave them a pass, but the second time there were only a handful of customers in the whole place and no one was in line, so I ordered a ham and cheese croissant--the kind that's in the pastry case. They brought my coffee but totally forgot about the croissant. I had a number at my table and was sitting across from the register. About 20 minutes later, I went up to the counter and told them I just wanted the pastry in the case, they didn't have to make a whole sandwich or anything and they seemed surprised no one had brought the croissant yet.
