We stopped here specifially to purchase sandwiches for our trip back I am so happy that my wife and I found a Safeway not one mile from where we were staying in Berkley. This is an awesome supermarket and I knew I would be back. This market is also big and bright with nice wide aisles to push your carts through. The staff here is extremely helpful and was always able to point us (or even escort us) to exactly what we were looking for. On this visits we came here specifically to pick up some sandwiches for our flight back to New York. The choice of meat (and non-meats) is extensive and they have a wonderful selection of breads and toppings. The team member behind the counter helping us was wonderful and friendly. He was definitely having a good time constructing our sandwiches. I also found the restrooms clean and more than acceptable. I was more than a little surprised to read some of these one star reviews. Clearly we were in a different store or the fact that they only have one or two reviews with no photos or friends connected tells me that they're just not real. If you're checking reviews you could always look for the yelpers with an "Elite" staus... They have been around for a while. KUDOs to the team at Safeway.
