The food & drinks were great. We started with 2 cocktails the EL Narco, twist on a margarita mae with Cimarron Blanco, Xicala Joven, BroVo Uncharted, Allspice, Ancho Reyes, Pineapple Amaro, Lime. And the GREEN APPLE PISCO SOUR made with Pisco, Cocchi Americano, Orgeat, Green Apple, Lamon, Golden Green Apple. The meals are served tapas style easily shareable, but you may not want to. We first got the SMOKY SPICY TUNA ROLL. The presentation was GREAT!!! It has Tuna Tartare, Seared Akami, Spicy Mayo, Cucumbers, Togarashi, Smoked Dome which is also Available Smoke Free. The BIRRIA EGG ROLLS followed these were our favorite!!! Made with Slow Roasted Beef, Guate Censoreme, Oaxaca Cheese, Onion, Cilentro, Lime Next came the CHAR SUI PORK FRIED RICE made with Charred Pork Belly, Fried Egg, Ginger, Garlic, Shiitake, Chili Flakes, Soy Sauce, Scallions. Finally we got the DRUNKEN NOODLES, we added Chicken. Made with Wide Rice Noodles, Baby Heirloom Tomatoes, Egg, Onion, Garlic, Fresno Chilis. Over all our favorites were the Birria Egg Rolls, Char Sui Pork Fried Rice and Smoky Spicy Tina Roll. The prices are a bit hirer from what you may pay elsewhere, but you can't beat the presentation and eclectic ambiance. If you are looking for an interesting evening out give this place a try. This speakeasy within a restaurant, Asian fusion tiki lounge is a whole vibe. There's a side entrance, through the restaurant, or if you want a bit more flair, take a seat, and let the wall spin you around into the space. So incredibly cool. The decor is over the top, the pink lighting is fantastic, and the leopard print on the bar, and the menus, is just fun. We sat down at the bar, so we could check out the happy hour drinks, and food specials, and were not disappointed. The bar seats are large, comfortable, and plentiful. The bartenders are great, super friendly, attentive, as are the servers who brought our food; and also checked in on us. We tried many things on the menu, from drinks to food, and everything was delicious. I started with a penichillin, a riff on the penicillin that was very tasty. I also had the old fashioned, with chai flavoring in it (well balanced, great depth of flavor), and the lychee martini (delicious, not sweet). On to the food. We started with the cucumbers, which are deliciously marinated, with great flavor. Then the kimchi edamame, which was a great riff on traditional edamame, great umami flavor, and some spice (but not overly so). Next the bao buns arrived, I had the pork belly bao, which was outstanding, generously portioned, and had some coleslaw that added even more flavor. Then the bang bang shrimp arrived, and this was one of my favorite things we ate - crispy, and bit of spice. The crab fried rice was exceptional, generously portioned with crab, and mushrooms in it. This was a very unique experience for me since I usually don't go to speakeasy's let alone have a full course meal at one. The entrance was phenomenal and such a cool experience (won't spoil it but definitely go to check it out). We ordered a LOT of food- crispy rice, kimchi butter edamame, both of the baos, soup dumplings, salmon roll, pork belly fried rice, and ramen. Everything except for the ramen was absolutely delicious and the presentation was appetizing. The ramen was a huge disappoint, lackluster broth, clumpy noodles, and bacon for pork belly which was an interesting choice (understandably this is a modern Asian fusion so didn't mind it). Nonetheless, the drinks and the rest of the food were absolutely delicious and we had a great server who just made the experience 10x better and worth coming back to. The ambiance is dim but makes you feel transported to a different universe. It's dark and gothy yet still evoke a familiar feeling. Had our first visit here and we'll definitely be back again really soon! Ashley G was wonderful and really attentive our entire visit. We had a lot of questions about different menu options and concerns about our allergies. She was very careful about ensuring that our food selections met our dietary needs and offered up suggestions of alternatives when needed. She also helped me to select a wine and offered me two different tasting options based on the kinds that I usually order. The atmosphere is super fun and the decoration is themed for a tiki room / speakeasy vibe. The chairs are made of leopard print and there are some animal themes throughout, notably the carpeted areas. I opted for the truffle edamame and the Royal roll, both were absolutely wonderful and I would order them again. In order to enter this beautiful establishment, you must sit in the two chairs on the wall while it spins you into another realm. The ambiance was literally to die for ! I like the creative mishmash of everything from the cheetah print everywhere on the carpet, chairs, bar top, walls, menu to the colorful lights and plants. I'm so delayed in sharing this review, but I absolutely loved Roka Hula and I have been there at least two more times since my first visit. The small and intimate spot is designed as a speakeasy with a super fun secret entrance. My absolute favorite here is the banana old-fashioned. That said, it is a tiki bar and I do find it worth noting that if you have an allergy to cinnamon, this is not the place for you. The last time I was there, we sat next to a couple that ordered a drink with cinnamon on it and the table side presentation of that drink and with myself and my dining partner being essentially coated in a layer of cinnamon. It immediately made me think of my friend's husband that would've been in a lot of trouble in that situation. And honestly, it made me feel a certain way about the safety of people with an allergy to cinnamon. Hopefully they just know not to go into Tiki bars? I mentioned it to the manager and I didn't feel he took it seriously which is actually the only reason I'm taking it down to a four star because of that. Piggybacking to my Voodoo Bayou review, Roka Hula is the speakeasy part. We went here for drinks after eating at Voodoo. The entry experience is cool, sitting on the thrown/chairs and you slowly spin into the speakeasy. It is a little odd as you enter as people are sitting at tables eating but ‍ enjoy the moment (you do have the option to walk around, but where's the fun in that?) The service and drinks are amazing. The drinks are super fun and themed. Again slightly pricey, so not a regular thing for me; but definitely a cool place and great service if you're looking to try something different. You enter through Voodoo Bayou, and then you can sit in two chairs that rotate on a platform and turn you into the speakeasy! Roka Hula's ambiance was a 10/10- eclectic lights covered the ceiling, cheetah print decked out the carpet and bar, and the music was great. The bartender was hilarious and did an awesome job explaining some of the drinks in the menu. The drinks are on the pricey side, but I think they were worth it. I grabbed a Frankenstein, which is a twist on the classic zombie, and yes it was set on fire. The presentation on all of the drinks were incredible, and I was super impressed that they make a lot of syrups and components of the drinks in house. Awesome new speak easy tiki spot in Dr Phillips/Orlando area As a huge tiki fan, I find myself often having to travel a ways north of the area to find great tiki spots, so having one here is very welcomed. Situated within Voodoo Bayou (another great restaurant/bar), you enter through a rotating wall into an area with quite a few tables and ample bar seating. The decor and lighting are very welcoming and provide for a great atmosphere to enjoy some food and drinks. The food in here is completely different from the other restaurant, with more Polynesian/Asian offerings. The pork belly rice bowl is one of my favorites, being delicious and a great portion as well. There's also a great range of cocktails that are both unique and tasty. I would like to see an expansion to their drink menu in the future though, as it features a smaller menu and I feel it could offer more. read more

For the edamame, for dairy free - remove parm and ask for it to be cooked without the butter (wish they had signs on their menus...). Went here for after-dinner drinks to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were a group of 9 on a Saturday night. We made reservations which was a good call. It can get pretty busy and the space isn't large. We had the choice of entering through the special chairs or walking through a side door. Since there were so many of us, we let the birthday girl go for a ride and the rest of us walked through the door. They have a special cocktail menu or you can order whatever you want. Their specialty cocktails looked fun and some of them came in cute glasses. I will say that the drinks are pricey. We did not eat here. I did look at the menu and was intrigued. Another hidden gem. I didn't even know that this place ever existed nor that I really hear about it. I was just drove by it and didn't think much of it. But me and a partner went in here. We looked at the menu and fell in love so we decided to order drinks and food. She decided to order the baos based off her prognosis, it must have been delicious. I decided to go with the Branzino sushi and I was in heaven. If I have anything negative to say about this restaurant is that it is a bit overpriced. Otherwise the food is delicious and decor is really something that will blow you away. The waiter that we had her name was taiës and she was truly full of smiles and full of life, and truly explained the menu extremely well. We were excited before we even started ordering. Once the conversation ended in the food started coming to the table, we devoured it in a matter of 30 minutes. Again, absolutely delicious with the fact that one of my drinks were set on fire and comes with a little bit of cinnamon on top before it served. It was truly lovely to see and I really really really like this place. I'm sure I'll be back in about a couple couple of months or so in order to try the second half of this restaurant. Second time around was a charm! We had Faith as our server and she was great. This time I had the go-go devil cocktail, which was in the sweeter side, but so refreshing and enjoyable. I was so excited to check another speakeasy off the list! Roka Hula has been all over Instagram so once I had the chance I just had to run over! Something to note about this place - if you want to experience the chair then you have to make a reservation. They take walk ins if there's availability at their bar, but they walk you in their side entrance. The inside is lush and decorated with skulls, animal print, and the same jeweled orbs like what you would see at Permanent Vacation. We went to the bar as we were told there was space, but when we got up there, only one seat was open so my husband stood until someone left halfway through our meal. For our drinks we ordered the go-go devil (lychee lovers, you'll want to order this), the devil's grin (old fashioned), and the tea party for two which is a stunning show with your tea! Sake, yuzu, blood orange tea, and some other great ingredients made that tea my favorite drink of the night! Now on to the food! For our appetizer we ordered the shrimp and pork dumplings which was shumai in a ginger broth. It ended up being a great pairing of flavors, but I just wanted more lol! I took the sushi route and got their rainbow roll (DELICIOUS), while my husband ordered the pork belly fried rice. I tried a few bites of his, and it was some of the better pork belly that I've had in a restaurant. The rice could've been stickier to make it easier to eat but still a yummy dish! I'm not sure that everything on the menu warrants the price tag attached to it, but you have to keep in mind that part of that price comes from the experience.
